Mods cost (shop prices for parts) about $200 per mech. Maxed pilots sell for $100 deals plus $25-30 weapon implant pack plus $10 ability cooldown plus $190 for implant parts so that's $325 per pilot. So yes, 1 maxed pilot is more expensive than maxed mods for 1 mech.
But if you don't max out implants, pilots would be cheaper. And offer more flexibility (you can swap around different mechs and different weapon energy, you can refund implant parts to change to different weapon families). And their in-game economy is more accessible to f2p (barred by time to randomly access the implant you want)

i think you interpreted that as a "justification" of the cost, but it wasnt. apart from what you said, Mods also offer less value than Pilots, so its no contest. I was simply trying to relate this new expensive thing to another expensive thing that most players dont perceive to be that expensive, with the key difference being resource gain. so its a bit preemptive to compare until we know how much we regularly get from events/etc.

These mods made the game so effd up now any mech can have 3 or 4 abilities combined and impossible to kill and so for now on we've no option except the fact to dive into these mods as well and none of any mech ability left unique anymore, f**k you mech arena

Stasis beam feels stronger
Helix feels worse
Arcs are good but the mag is too small so embers are still way better and maybe frags too
Vipers are ripping up everything in my tier
Major nerf was all the light mechs 16 energy was barely passable before and just won’t be enough now

stasis in general feels much stronger. ive actually been doing much better with light mechs now

before mods, yea. it was kinda mid, Repeater doesnt have enough mag size. now that Mods are here, itll prob be worse for the same reason
