We used to make a pouch from a kind of fabric lume material, tape it up, leaving one side open and stick an ice scraper (the flat kind) in it. The ice scraper was roughed up with fine sand paper and could be written on with pencil. Two writing systems in one.
Good point. Thanks for the comment bro!A good SOP to mitigate this is that the challenge, pass and number change every 24hr pre planed on the OPSKED that way it adds an extra layer of security. But I agree with limiting everything you write down. Including important grids, markings on your map etc.

Idk about sleepy rangers, but we were taught to NEVER write down pass/challenge. If you can't remember 2 words you probably shouldn't be deployed
