🇦🇫 When Taliban offer you gold: Afghan youth in crisis | Talk to Al Jazeera

  • Among the hundreds of thousands of refugees entering Europe a significant number is made up of young men from Afghanistan. Last year, more than 100,000 Afghans fled to Europe and the exodus continues.
But why are so many Afghans leaving their home country?
In Kabul's Kote Sangi neighbourhood, painters, carpenters, plasterers, and other manual workers sit outside waiting for someone to come by and hire them, even if only for a few hours.
This scene is replicated throughout the Afghan capital as thousands of casual workers hope to earn a dollar or more a day, the desperation etched on many faces. But their chances aren't good. These men don't have the family or the political connections often needed to get a job. And Afghanistan's unemployment rate is estimated to be at 40 percent or higher.
Afghanistan's economy still depends heavily on international aid and 61 percent of the country's operating budget is funded by foreign donors.
The withdrawal of more than 100,000 NATO troops, and a scaling down of aid has shrunk the economy drastically. Building bases for the troops, staffing them, moving food and water to them, injected billions of dollars into the economy and employed tens of thousands of Afghans for years.
In response to the economic downturn, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has launched the National Employment Programme in November 2015 to give thousands of Afghans job opportunities.
But will he succeed? How do do young Afghans feel about their country's economic future?
On this week's Talk to Al Jazeera in the Field, we examine the job market in Afghanistan. How does it really work? And what jobs, if any, offer some kind of future for the young people who decide to stay in Afghanistan?
We talk to business leaders who are looking for workers; the head of one of Afghanistan's biggest recruitment companies; and job seeker Abdel Fatah, who studied sociology at Kabul University and wants to stay and work in his country.

More like every afghan who had guts has died. So much war, so much destruction. Afghanistan is where Alexander the Great fell, drove the British away, fought off the Russians and now are still in war. So I'm not sure where you heard afghans don't have guts.

isis in Afghanistan used to pay $700 to fighters. With extremely little influence, where did they use to get funding from? Don't tell me they were extorting money from very poor population who didn't have money to start off whereas opium trade yields a lot in the West but it is extremely cheap in Afghanistan. You could get 10kg of opium for $8. Yes, it is that cheap there . So opium is not profitable for the insurgents in Afghanistan.

Do you have any concrete evidence

    • @iaking3579
      @iaking3579 Před 7 lety +1

I don't work for the ISI so no I don't have solid evidence BUT many now widely acknowledge Pakistan's support for the Afghan Taliban. Just type into google 'Pakistan's support of the Afghan Taliban'
Just read this: "Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has admitted that Pakistan supported and trained terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in 1990s to carry out militancy in Kashmir.[51][52] From 1979 Pakistan was in favour of religious militancy.[53]“The Kashmiri freedom fighters including Hafiz Saeed and Lakhvi were our heroes at that time. We trained Taliban and sent them to fight against Russia. Taliban, Haqqani, Osama Bin Laden and Zawahiri were our heroes then. Later they became villains" says Pervez Musharraf."
My opinion is not fact but the fact is that Americans and Afghans alike widely believe that Pakistan is playing a double-game. When you connect the dots it all makes sense. For example the Afghan Taliban Quetta Shura council was in Pakistan since 2001 but the Pakistanis only acknowledged its existence in 2012. Osama Bin Laden was hiding in some giant house near some military area which also doesn't make sense how the Pakistanis didn't know. Also the fact that the Pakistani government recognised the Afghan Taliban government of the late 1990s early 2000s doesn't help Pakistan's case in my opnion.
My opinion is not out of nowhere. I have come to my conclusion to my research. I can still go on and why there might be a relation between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban

Money cannot just eat by itself as well as gold. Everyone will find their own dream in their own land, build a country from your own land from farming where all history start. Your country is rich in beauty of land, tourist group like to go to your country to play, when they play, your food industry wake up, When food industry wake up, your agriculture wake up, when agriculture need transport and ferterlizer, your chemistry start, then you electric mechanical start, you believe in clean hand on study socialogies where clean hand means no food. Just as a old men that give a word. Go back to the day where how human start, 1st agriculture, if you are smart and rich, go to do trading of good/food, you create jobs for transport, mechanic , electrician, industrist, police & army for security, bring back to real world, for a country that break up with fail security. Where can you start. That the socialogies start to work out to build a safe country with everyone to join the benefits. Not to damostration in paliament house, you are in a country where everything start from raw.
