I do have an idea for the story:
Black Shadow is being evil, and you must defeat 8 F-Zero Racers before you can challenge him to a fight. After conquering the 8 racers and 4 Black Shadow fortess Stages you kill Black Shadow, BUT THEN: Deathborn appears out of nowhere, and you need to complete 4 other stages to reach and then kill him.
You'd have to get creative with the weapons, but I have a few ideas.
Samuri Goroh gives you a long reach sword that is infinite ammo, but sliding doesn't produce a Falcon Kick and you can't Falcon Punch.
Rush Jet would be the 16 bit sprite of the Blue Falcon, and it uses Boost power when you attack, but that wastes all the ammo when you use it, but its very powerful.
You can only charge the Falcon Punch on the ground. You can't move while charging. You take double damage if you get hit while charging, you also lose the charge When you release the charge, you unleash the punch, however, you can't move until the punch completes. There is a slight delay before you actually punch something when releasing a Falcon Punch
All bosses are weak to the Falcon Punch, and they all suffer knockback from the punch. Landing a Falcon Punch is extremely risky, but not impossible.
You can only Kill Black Shadow and Deathborn with a fully charged Falcon Punch, however you can weaken them to 1 health before you FP them. when at 1 health, both bosses stop moving and attacking allowing for an easy FP.
Falcon kick is a new game plus unlockable. When sliding, the users hitbox becomes an attack hitbox. FK leaves behind firesparks that rise up and can deal damage. FK does low damage and high hitlag (meaning there is a small delay between cosecutive hits on the same enemy with the same attack.) Firesparks deal 1 damage each. All bosses suffer damage from FK.
Excuse the text heavy and very specific weapon descriptions.
Since I was thinking Megaman when typing this, all bosses have a special weakness in addition to the FP.

YES!!! The best F-Zero theme ever created is finally immortalized in 8-bit!
Love it! Absolutely amazing :) Real shame there haven't been any F-Zero games since the Gamecube one =( You should try 8-bitting Mute city too if you feel like doing more tunes from F-Zero.
Mute City is still my favorite F-Zero track but Big Blue is a close second.

I mean, I came here from toycat too, but even if I was going to talk about him on some other person's comments section, I wouldn't just not look to see if anyone else said the same thing. Point is, there was a game that was relatively well known by the name of Shatterhand, where the whole gimmick of the game is punching things years before Smash came out and made that Falcon's gimmick.
Yeah, serious answer, I just like Mega Man, and the sprites used in the games are super easy to edit. Plus he's an iconic character from the NES era. Alas, I don't know every single NES game, so I may miss easier opportunities for better pictures.
Mega mans 8 bit music engine is the most popular and easy to use, that's a prominent reason why he and Mario are two of the most iconic 8 bit characters and have the great soundtracks, fantastic sound engine my dude. And just a question to Bulby what engine is it you actually use, just curious as i may take future reference as i'm hoping to get into music composition when i'm older.
