  • Some will attempt, most will fail on this Everest-Lhotse double expedition which is the ultimate prize of the Khumbu Valley for those who want to take on the feat of climbing two 8,000m peaks within a single 24-hour period. Everest (8,850m/29,035ft) and Lhotse (8,516m/27,939ft) are the first and fourth-highest mountains in the world and share an approach through the phenomenal terrain of the Khumbu Icefall and Western Cwm, allowing back to back summits from the staging post of the South Col.
Giripremi organized the first-ever civilian expedition from India on dual 8000er mountains under the leadership of Umesh Zirpe. Giripremi's Ganesh More, Anand Mali, and Bhushan Harshe reached the summit of Mt. Everest (the world's highest mountain), whereas Ashish Mane summits Mt. Lhotse (the world's fourth-highest mountain) at the dawn of May 19.
The breathtaking full-length documentary captures the journey of the lifetime dream of the young mountaineers.

Another gem I hadn't seen before. I kind of like the fact that it doesn't have that Hollywood slickness. I did that trek from Jiri so it is always great to see it again. I remember getting to Lukla and suddenly the trail was filled with people who had flown there. Teams wearing corporate logo jackets off on a "bonding" adventure. Ugh. Hats off to the guys in this film for not taking the easy route. And this is still my favorite channel on CZcams!

Very nice ! And what a nice surprise to see Reinhold Messner on the base camp and spending time with the team. Good insights in some parts of the video about the conditions of the hike. Lhotse is less talked about but well covered in this.

It’s not easy to piece together this complicated footage to allow us to share with an Indian victory in mountaineering! Nice work!

Thank you Mr Snow - a prefect name - but perhaps you should also be called 'Mr Mountain Magician' - who always seems to magically pull another unknown mountain documentary from out of his sleeve...

They don't say what time they left the South Col for the summit attempt.
To arrive at the summit at 6.45am I'm guessing that they must have left before 9pm.
That was a selfless decision for the expedition leader to turn around due to lack of oxygen bottles.
Nonetheless, I'm surprised that they didn't have extra in the case of such an happenstance or an emergency.
