    Dude. Phenomenal video. I was watching how to play vids for this and Bolt Action and I’ve gotta tell you that this is by far the best I’ve seen. Everything is presented clearly, in detail in a way that I can understand that none of my friends will play this gems with me. 😂
    But this does give me ideas on how to incorporate foot soldiers and a better version of artillery into the World of Tanks mini game which they do play.

    So you can fire through your own infantry bases now?
    Also Aircraft used to attack top armor. I wonder why this rules was changed?

    • @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Yeah, so the 4th edition rule boom doesn't have anything on shooting through infantry teams. I never played any of the previous editions, so that rule and the aircraft rule is entirely new to me. However if you can find the rules, or a rule book there's a bunch of really weird shooting scenarios, like targeting hq and observer units. Along with mistaken target. I didn't want to make the video an hour long, going on about all the different things that apply in the shooting step, and to be honest, I rarely play with those rules anyways. Thank you for the comment :)

      You can shoot over stationary infantry. So if your infantry moved in front of you and block your line of sight you cant shoot over them if all or practically all lines of sight are blocked by said infantry. Per the 2019 rule book page 51.

    Great intro.
    I plan to start on FOW this year too. Will you be posting up batreps?

    • @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds  Před 5 měsíci +3

      Thank you! We plan on making battle reports for Team Yankee, and Flames of War later on in the year! They're quite a bit of work but we have some crazy ideas in mind. We posted a video on our plans for the year, so hopefully that will help clear up any more questions, but if you do have any questions you can also comment:)

    Thanks for the video. At 12:16 about splitting the hits, what’s your opinion on that rule? It seems a bit odd from a realism perspective, but I guess FoW is more of a game than a simulation. I’m interested in playing FoW with 6mm Microarmour. Are the unit cards sold separately or do you have to purchase the miniature, too?

    • @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I recommend buying the books, because they have all the unit stats, points, history, and formations, opposed to just the stats, but if you are looking for just unit cards they are sold separately. Just call your local game store or see if you can find them on Amazon or another online store. :)

    • @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds  Před 6 měsíci +1

      And I find the splitting hits rule weird, because the attacker should chose which team to take out, or if a team is behind cover, it can still get hit. There is the mistaken target rule as well, but I honestly don't know anyone who plays with that rule, because it makes it impossible to get anything done lol.

      @@BrushstrokesBattlegrounds Thanks for the replies! I'm sure there is a "gamey" reason for it, and that's find. It's just a bit odd.

      You know, I wish I had an answer for you. It's in the works. We've been finishing up painting all our North Africa models, but with exams and sports it's quite difficult to find a time to play. I really wish I had an answer for you, but all I can say is that it is in the making. Thank you for your engagement and comment!

    Is there anyway that a shot at a tank or AFV can immobilize it? I don’t see anything in the rules that deals with immobilizing vehicles and tanks?

    • @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds  Před 4 měsíci +1

      There isn't a rule that "immobilizes" a tank or AFV per se. However, the bailed out rules can kind of behave like immobilization, as the crew has to get out of the tank to "fix it". Or maybe they're just scared lol. Anyways, while a team is bailed out of their tank they can't move or shoot until they roll a successful remount. So in a sense, they're kinda immobilized. Flames of war doesn't do an amazing job of portraying realistic events or scenarios like that, which is unfortunate but if you're looking for a fun game to play in a few hours with some buddies FoW has you covered.

    • @chriscamp60
      @chriscamp60 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      So due to no immobilization rules there's really no drawbacks to assault guns not having movable turrets ...?

    • @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds  Před 4 měsíci

      I've never thought of it like that, but yea you're right. I played a game the other week with ISU-152, and those things absolutely dominated! It would definitely add to the realism of the game if there was a rule like that, but it's whatever. Thank you for your comments!

    Hi I dont think you get to save when hit in an assault. Infantry that hit other teams simply destroy them.

    You do have to have at least one formation

    • @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Sorry for the late response, Me and Everett are on vacation rn, but yes in standard play you must take at least one formation (all of the backed out units) and you can take as many formations as you would like within the point limit of your game. You can also take the same formation as many times as you would like. Me and Everett like mixing stuff around and trying new weird stuff that formations sometimes don't allow. Most of the box sets are formations so it shouldn't be hard making one or two, but when you've got a crap ton of models like us, it's usually more fun to just play without them. But formations are definitely the most balanced and easiest way to make an army:) thank you for your comment

    I dont think there are infantry saves in assaults

    • @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds  Před 5 měsíci

      You know, it's actually really funny, because me and Everett were playing a game the other day and we went back and forth on whether there were infantry saves during assaults. And the rule book is very open ended about it (I don't think it's written very well) I'm pretty sure that the unit being assaulted rolls saves after being assaulted. But again it's super unclear.

      Thank you so much for the comment! I recommend checking out the flames of war wiki Fandom. They do a pretty good job of explaining the rules (a lot better than the book lol) fow.fandom.com/wiki/Assaults

    Your infantry bases need a paint job, and magnets for your tanks,

    • @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds
      @BrushstrokesBattlegrounds  Před 3 měsíci +1

      We haven’t gotten to the infantry bases yet, but the tanks did have magnets until someone I know dropped a book by accident on the tanks… so they do need some repairs.
