So Emerald, back in the day we were called Ridge Runners as opposed to hill Billy's or red necks.
Is there a more recent term for hill people you can share?

I think the Boss Man wins for the best location for 'take your kids to work' day. That was quite the ride up and down the mountain.
Thanks for the comment. Happy 4th. Boss Man.
thanks boss
So refreshing to see young ladies that can communicate without profanity all over the conversation, kudos to the boss man for raising em up right 🤗👍🏼
I’ve never heard a single “bleeeep” in any of the LCLY videos. 👍🏼

It makes such a huge difference, and a very pleasant change from hearing the usual mouthful of profanities.
I totally agree
Girls, I don't know if you've noticed it, but your dad has to be one of the hardest working guys around. You should be proud.
Thanks for the comment. Happy 4th. Boss Man.
Great video! Em and Jade need some time off to go utving a little more. They looked kind of nervous!😊
thanks boss
Not only is he a great example, but his kids seem to be following his example. Well-earned honor and respect.
I do more work in 5 minutes than he does all day
"Oh my gosh, wow, that was epic, how did that, I've never seen, where are we, etc." Your continuous astonishments were funny 😅
This does prove that your dad knows what he is doing. This is the most I’ve ever heard Jade talk.😊
did not know jade could talk
she's adorable.
Those mountain laurel are beautiful
My hair went grey when my daughter's became young ladies. Lord help all us old men with daughters. Seems like boss man is doing a great job👍🙏
Thank you for the comment. I get it… Boss Man.
Seeing you both laughing and having a good time is sunshine in the dark. Thanks for that.
These days you dont have to look very hard to find someone offended by everything! Your operation is keeping the forest healthy unlike where I am out west where it is not well maintained and burns up seems like every single year!
Exactly. How many trees and forest animals were lost in the Canadian 80 million acre forest fires. Such a shame to have lost so many really good trees for harvesting to build homes.
We love God’s land and am proud to harvest…Boss Man.
That's right, the only reason there are forest fires is because them damn tree-huggers don't like logging. (I'm being sarcastic). It was Reagan who first promoted the idea of raking the forests to prevent forest fires. We can't have nature be untidy, and now we have an excuse to manage every inch of it! I love logging and the timber industry. You don't have to go insane and suggest that it's a lack of 'maintenance' (like logging whatever the hell is profitable) that is the cause of all ills. Sure, every hot-blooded capitalist wants there to be no consequences to their savagery, but wishing don't make it so. LCLY is a tiny operation and taking advantage of gypsy moth kills is more a matter of taking advantage of 'free' lumber than any sort of help to the overall ecosystem, let alone the trees themselves. If you want to be a gung ho 'we take what we need' capitalist then just do it. Don't make an unbelievably transparent excuse, like 'The forests need to be raked and maintained proper'.
One of the best videos yet!! Kudos to the boss man for actually showing us how back breaking this work is. And a major thumbs up for the ladies for the ladies willing to take us all along for the ride. One of the highlights was watching Jade become so animated in front of the camera. We all know how Emerald has learned to let the lens showcase her talents, so it was a joy to see Jade do the same!
Thanks for the comment. Happy 4th. Boss Man.
Very much enjoyed the latest vid! Your family is an inspiration. Thank you for bringing us along!!!
Not only do we get to enjoy rare gems up on the mountain but get to accent them with beautiful rhododendrons! I did not expect that they grew that far north. Great video!
That was mountain laurel.
@@bdickinson6751 Is it related to rhododendron?
@@JonathanGillies Distant cousins. They both grow in similar conditions, i.e. soil types, moisture requirements etc., as well. Mountain laurel is Pennsylvanias state flower. I might add that rhododendrons are very common here as well.
@@bdickinson6751 Thank you for telling me!!! Here in the Hebridean Peatlands, the rhododendrons spread wild and take over large areas if they are not controlled. Controlled burns have to be carried out from time to time to control their spread!!!
@@JonathanGillies You are quite welcome.
Thanks for the insight to what it takes to bring lumber down to the mill, you folks are great. Stay safe and stay happy.
You could tell that was Jade’s first trip up the mountain. I think I noticed her white knuckles on the steering wheel and her face showed her seriousness consistent with surprise. Your videos tell a lot about you girls character and we get a chance to watch you grow into outstanding individuals.
your pops is one hard wroking man you ladies should be very proud to have a dad that is such a hard worker and learning from a man like him. makes me miss my old man for sure. keep up the amazing job ladies and props to your dad for sure, i bet driving that big equipment is super rad. cheers and blessing from southwest Michigan. its been smokes as heck and dry over this way this summer but extremely smoke the last week and almost unhealthy to be outside. praying for some relief soon and they get the wildfires under control in Canada

There aren't hardly enough firefighters in Canada to fight only a fraction of the fires.
Too cool .. That is a place you take your lunch and eat it with a Great View ! ! ! !
That's some work. Just to get up. That road is sketchy yet. Love the new shirt! I wouldn't worry about the huggers. They have no clue what it takes to keep a forest healthy.

That was a beautiful half hour spent we you on the mountain. Thank you.
Oh my goodness. Thank you for the lovely pictures of the rhododendron. I asked several months ago and you delivered. Your dad is even working in a patch of it as he is cutting trees. About 18 years ago, I spent a week or two riding quads in the mountains of West Virginia. We were on logging roads. I understand your anxiety while going up and down the roads. It can be quite intense. Just think, your father gets to do this nearly every day. What a great life. Thank you so much for the lovely pictures. I have watched the video a couple of times already. The mountains are so beautiful.

Happy Canada Day to our Canadian neighbors. 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Brought back memories of my days on the west side of Mount Mansfield in Vermont during my logging years in the mid seventies. Very long steep run to the landing. Nothing has changed in fifty years.
Man this brings back memories.
My dad cut timber for almost 30 years. We started out with a mule and a 1956 twin stick duce and half. In the summer time I would help him skid logs to the landing. I have so many fond memories of those years and I still miss the smell of sawdust in the morning.
Thank Ken for the comment. Lots of fond memories…Boss Man.
I was on a Loblolly pine tree farm in the Sandhills of SC yesterday where they were thinning with a feller buncher. Quite the contrast in landscape and techniques

I wish he would use soft shackles and soft rope for pulling like that. There are many horror stories when chains and cables and metal shackles break.

Ken's doing some serious tree felling target "practice"! Emerald and Jade your crushing it with each exciting new video! I noticed a "bumper" tree on the edge of the logging road on the way up. Our new forester harvested some of the older bumper trees off our land recently. My old forester said the logging operation is just going to create new bumper trees. I seen at least one new one so far though I haven't walked around the destruction. Harvesting trees and cutting logging roads is pretty violent but give nature 50 years and you would wonder if nature wasn't the ultimate victor in all this. I really love how much you girls enjoy being in the wilds of North Central PA. Apparently saying "ladies" is no longer pc. I have no idea why, nor do I want to know.
Thank you for the comment. Happy 4th…Boss Man

Loved that video. Like the way your dad put trails leaning to the inside. Been there. We don't have mountains here in Michigan but we do have some pretty steep hills. Wish he had someone out there with him. If nothing else just in case. Jade looked like she was having fun. But it is good to see a family owned business really work together even with a few glitches. Great video.
Thank you. Inside leaning roads sure do feel better for the operator…Boss Man.
You're welcome. They are much safer especially since the next stop down is about 250 ft. And the softest spot is the river but my sons and I common sense. Just stay safe out there.

Thanks James. Happy 4th…Boss Man.
This is a high-end video f'sure, not that your others aren't. This one seems more personal, a peek into why you so love what you do.
I'm wondering, if someone could tell me, why the boss man levels off the stumps after the fall.
I’m not positive (I’m not a logger) but maybe to keep the log being dragged out from hanging up on the stump as it’s going uphill to the skidding road. Just a guess.
If It is a high value tree I cut as close to the ground as possible. I like to clean the stump for appearance, but more importantly to avoid “dead heading” into it and stalling the skid. Sometimes I also cut a ramp on the stump so the skid passes…Boss Man.
@@KenBreon thank you Ken.
This is a great video! It really shows some of the many skill set the Bossman has to have to get the job done! And, as always, Em and Jade are a great team!

Keep that vehicle in low, LOW gear coming down. Don't totally rely on brakes! Great video!
Another great video ladies. Hard to believe how much physical labor is involved in bringing those trees down and hauled away. Your dad is awesome.
Those PA ridges are mostly large loose rock hidden by the under growth so quite a chore to build a haul road. Down central PA many ridges have even wider roads cut in to haul everything for the numerous wind farms constructed on the ridges.
Fabulous ride and awesome job by the Boss Man!!!
Thank you. Happy 4th…Boss Man.
You and emarald and jade are a great team. As long as you as a support team. Good job.
Looks like the boss knows the value of good roads. Seems like good going for a skid road. It's not that steep!
Beautiful place you live girls. I drove through that part of PA last fall and was impressed by the beauty of the countryside and mountains and I live in New Hampshire where we have beautiful mountains as well, it's something to appreciate. Anyway nice to see the woods side of the operation. It's been a few decades since I have been logging oddly enough we use to hug them too. Then thank them for providing us a living. Cheers

I too am a Husqvarna and Levi man. I've pulled rope and snared lods. It is hard work. I have much respect for the men that has made a career of this type of logging. After roping a log, then negotiating incline, it ain't like walking on a city sidewalk.
Thanks for taking notice. I appreciate your comment…Boss Man.

Em and Jade, hope you know how good you got it. keep it up
Don't worry, the tree huggers have probably never even touched a tree.
It's too much like work for those sorts.
I don't know where this is, but in Oregon they drive 60d spikes into trees to try to kill A mill operator.
@@powskier So they drive spikes into the trees, and thereby damage them, in order to "save" them from being harvested. Sounds like the sort of warped logic those kind of people use. Anyone who gets caught doing that and causing someone to be killed, or severely injured, deserves the death penalty. Here in PA they could become part of these ancient mountains known as the Appalachians.
Yeah it's funny how tree huggers want to stop cutting trees but don't complain about the lumber to build their house or the paper to wipe their butts.
@@powskier That is a shame. Some people are so stupid
Strong work!
