  • Part two of the shorter "quick check/fix" video.
    I go into more detail of decompression systems in general, as well as specifics to this system. Gotta love "convenience engineering." Unduly complicated and, to me, prone to hanging up, which causes undue wear on the starter.

    I have quite some time trying to start my bike and did not found anything, took it to the agency and they wanted me to buy a new starter. but This bike was easy to push start, but suddenly it wasn't. My biggest suspect is the decompression system but since I have to move to another city I had to put on hold this. But now that I watched this video I am more sure that this is my case

      It’s awkward but simple to check. Let me know what you find. TWD

    Great job describing and showing the maintenance. Once a season with the valve check seems not too bad. I am a new S40 owner so I did not even know the bike had this system. I am subbed and hope you will do a valve adjustment video soon. Thanks

      Glad you liked it and are not alone not knowing about the system. Both bikes are currently down so I’m not sure on a valve adjustment vid.

    Thankyou for making this video. I see the valves are old school too (locknut type). I use vaseline for lubing stuff that I'm not sure about - it's safe for our skin so I hope it's OK for seals etc.

      I’m sure Vaseline or even a light machine oil is fine. Anything to protect the metal.

    I've road my 2007 ls650 almost every day since 2018. Never adjusted the compression release. I took it off once to fix an oil leak. The only time it ever failed to start the coil was dead. Other wise Full choke push the starter. Some of the screws have vibrated out so loc-tite is a good helper. I had to replace the 1/2 hose between the valve cover and the air cleaner box. I would never use lithium to lube the solenoid or WD40. Blast or STD silicone spray. He must ride in really dirty environment. Dirt road?

      But does it actually work? Easy enough to check. If not it’s causing undue wear to your starter etc.

    Will the the fire at plug without the decompression control module connected or missing

    • @someguitarguy.
      @someguitarguy.  Před 11 měsíci

      That’s a good question. I think so but the only way to be sure is to check.

      @@someguitarguy. My bike has power to the coil but someone has took off the decompression control relay. I was just wondering will the bike still fire at the spark plug without the control unit connected

      @someguitarguy.  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@RpmAuto I would think so. If you have power to the coil but no spark at the plug maybe the coil is bad?

    seen it.. didnt like it / or know what it was lol ..fix be -strong battery and starter/ make this part of your boat anchor!

    • @someguitarguy.
      @someguitarguy.  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Decomp systems are common on large singles and even some V twins. If this doesn’t work, you can also add your starter and/or battery to your anchor.

    Lo hicieron automático porque originalmente era manual.y la gente.no lo usaba,total la.moto arrancaba igual,pero con el tiempo rompian el bendix y el burro de arranque.

      @@someguitarguy. I translated it because he gives an insight into the history of this: "They made it automatic because originally it was manual, and the people didn't use it, the bike started the same, but over time they broke the bendix and the starter donkey."

      @someguitarguy.  Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@urastus9202 I think they made it automatic for simplicity…and they know people are lazy. Similar to the automatic fuel petcock.
