I don't think you realize you repeated the directions for the Row 19 repeat. Chaining 5 and skipping 2 V stitches was repeated twice so naturally I thought that was the pattern. Until you finished row 20 and clearly that's not what you meant. I went back 3 times just to see how I messed it up and, yup, same instructions repeated twice. Not a big deal, it's an easy fix but when you struggle with written patterns and videos are easier to understand, it's a bit frustrating. Otherwise, great video and I love how it's turned out so far!
Thanks for making a comment on that. I too do not read written patterns well and depend on the video. I can't wait to make this shawl for a friend of mine.
Yes! Thank U!! It should be chaining 5, skipping 2stiches 3x chainging 3 skipping 1stiches, chainging 5, NEXT 3x chainging 3… it make a differend
It is like the Virus meets Granny by Fiber Spider. Absolutely GORGEOUS!! Thank you Jonna for sharing your tutorial. Your tutorial on the virus shawl is what helped me so much.
I am so beyond thrilled somebody besides me finally uses the standing dc as a beginning instead of ch 3! I’ve tight that standing dc to people for a few years now because it just looks so much better and cleaner! I’m really happy to see this! 😊🧶💗
I just finished this shawl. I made it one repeat larger. I think it is the most beautiful thing I have ever made. Thank you so much.
Chainless double is a very handy skill. It is so much neater and gives a nicer edge. I use this whenever possible. Love this shawl ❤️
?
This is years old but I just had to comment. I've just enconutered the chainless double for the very first time (I'm not a complete beginner but not super experienced yet either) and either I'm doing it wrong or the look is just not for me. It looks incredibly wonky every row I've tried it in and it's almost impossible to tell where I should crochet into when I come back to the end of the row.
@sashimster3243 when you make a chain-less double crochet you need to be sure it wraps tightly. Then pull the new yarn neatly through.
When you come back to it. Look closely to the side of the stitch. It has two loops that form at the top/side of the stitch. Those are what you’ll work into.
These take practice and if you don’t want to use them you definitely don’t need them.
If the chain 3 is too long and this is too “wonky” you can also just chain 2.
Thank you for watching!
Absolutely beautiful! I definitely will make this. I love your shawls and wonderful tutorials! Thank you!!!
So gorgeous! As always, thank you for a thorough and easy to follow tutorial!😊❤

I hve been crocheting since I woz 9yrs old (a looooong time ago) & I never realized there woz an alternative way of doing a double, the saying goes "U can't teach an old dogs new tricks" but U hve defin8ly taught me a couple so thank U 🙂Also I love the various combinations of stitches U can put with the Virus stitch, I hve tried almost all of them now & hve had lots of fun trying them out so again thank U 4 this 1 🙂

Just bought the paid pattern from your etsy shop. Omg I had no idea there was a CZcams video on how to make this. The written pattern and pictures are stunning. And this is video is amazing. Thank you so much for making such a great pattern tutorial. It goes at a pace perfect for learning and going along with the video. I've made other projects by following other CZcams video's and I end up pausing and having to rewind several times to keep up or understand. You have completely relieved my worry of not being able to create this shawl. I'm so excited to begin making this 😊
This is so great to hear! Thank you for purchasing the pattern, watching and commenting. And of corse if you have any questions as you go please message me where you purchased the pattern (Etsy or Ravelry) or message me on my Facebook page: JonnaMartinezCrochet. ❤️
Love this pattern! You are such a good teacher and pick beautiful patterns to teach! Thank you!
Beautiful shawl! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching and commenting! I’m very happy you like it! ❤️
IN ROW 19! if you hit pause you’ll see a note on the video that says that she realized afterward that she repeated herself by accident or perhaps missed it while editing. I guess it’s difficult to make the correction now in the video itself without having to reload it. But at least she does acknowledge the mistake. Yes, I too did it as it was in the video. I think I should have 5 shawls by now, because of all my own mistakes. But I’ve decided to make a second shawl, it will be much easier now that I’m familiar with the pattern.
GREAT TUTORIAL !! Beautiful shawl. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and commenting! Really happy to hear you liked it.

Thank you Jonna. The shawl turned out very beautiful. I used Caron Latte Cakes pink melon for my daughter-in-law and she loves it. I did have a bit of difficulties with the one row where there was a video glitch and I thought I was to chain 5 two times in a row. But once I figured out the problem all went smoothly. Thank you very much... I will make this again!
That sounds beautiful! I’m glad you were able to work though the glitch. Thank you for watching and commenting.
