What Made Metal Gear Solid 5 One Hell of A Game?

  • čas přidán 5. 02. 2021
  • Metal Gear Solid 5 is a flawed game and in some ways those flaws stick out like a sore thumb, but if you really open your heart to what it was able to accomplish with its fresh take on the series, there is a lot of fun to be had from this type of experience in the franchise.
The differences between it and past iterations in the series might not make it for everyone - and that's okay - but at the same time, it's still definitely one hell of a game.

The Witcher’s story is far more complex, the game boasts more small details in the physics engine and the world itself. You are a clown. Witcher 3 is > than anything kojima has ever done. The FOB multiplayer was broken and numerous cutscenes can't be viewed again after experiencing them the first time. You can replay missions, but many cutscenes can't be viewed again. You'd have to delete your 1 and only save to go through everything all over again and lose all progress you've accumulated. If Zelda, Mario and Batman Arkham games did this they wouldn't be seen as such good games.

Have played it for 502 hours from main missions to side missions to mother base attacks and defend missions and loved every minute of it. Long live Hideo Kojima for giving video gamers the unforgettable mgs series during last 20 years that will remain etched in minds till death 👌👌

One of the most underrated aspects of this game in my opinion is the whole base management system. It's really fucking awesome seeing your base go from a tiny little oil rig to a huge branched out base. I also really enjoyed the staff system and having to go out into the field to find the person with the required skill for specific jobs. It's honestly just so addictive and really makes you feel like a boss. I also fucking loved the companion system. DD is still my favourite video game dog and Quiet is an incredibly unique and fun character to play along with. Truly a masterpiece and i will now proceed to replay the whole game for the first time in about 3 years 🤟

It's similar to Witcher 3. If you can get passed a lot of the flaws and learn to enjoy it it can be one of the greatest games you'll ever play. For me the flaw with Metal Gear 5 is that it's a shooter and I only play shooters once in a blue moon so this game kicked my ass up and down the stairs and I just could not find the patience to learn so many new things at once just to be able to progress in the game. The aim control is awful too, if you don't move the stick far enough your camera and reticle won't move but as soon as you move it far enough it shoots to the other direction and it makes precision aiming VERY hard.

The systems in mgs5 were some of the best in the series. The sheer fun and possibilities to be had. The sense of progress you felt as your base got bigger and your arsenal wider. As a long time series fan however the stripped back storytelling, cut content, lack of memorable bosses in a series that is known for it was frustrating af. But to have these issues and still be a fully playable pretty much bugless blast of a game im not too mad

It has Escape From Tarkov vibes where you have a hideout that you customize, drop into a raid, kill stuff, loot items and materials then extract back to your hideout. The only thing that threw me off so far is that you can't start a new game from the menus. You have to go into the game files and delete your save game. Which is pretty strange but everything that Kojima touches is really really strange to say the least.

I loved how the story was told though interactivity and just playing the game rather than constantly having your gameplay interrupted every five minutes to force forty minutes of expositional cutscenes down your throat. It wasn't explicitly slapping you over the head with it's story which is why it flew completely over most people's heads.

It's like the witcher but for Soldiers. You absolutely must use tactics in this game, but what I absolutely love is that this game gives you a mission and you have to actually plan, resource and execute this mission in whatever way you chose. The game gives you the freedom to use your head and think. Want to ambush a convoy? Go for it. Or do you want to instead sneak in quietly, break a few necks and sneak out undetected. Do it. Or maybe you just don't care then bust out the heavy artillery and go nuts. It doesn't matter. You Choose

Gameplay was indeed phenomenal, I loved playing it, but the story disappointed me greatly. This game was the last MGS and it failed miserably to provide answers that would have explained what is, imo, the enduring mystery of the series: Big Boss's descent into villainy/madness.
In fact, character development was non-existent across the board, save maybe for Quiet. It didn't matter anyway because you barely interacted with anyone throughout the game. And also the base, the locale you came back to after every mission, that was a big missed opportunity, it served as nothing but a nice backdrop for cutscenes, which were very few and far between. The villain's motivations were also barely explained and you had to listen to literal hours of tapes to figure out any of it. Again, 10/10 gameplay-wise, but quite a poor story compared to the other entries in the series.
