You really have to watch the official video to ‘get’ this. Dolores is spellbinding in it.
She wrote it after two young boys, Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry were killed in Warrington, my home town, by two bombs hidden in waste bins by the IRA. I was there the day before with my kids who were the same age.
Dolores was touring England at the time, and wrote this in anger.
Fact!
Their recording company gave them a cheque for £1 million not to release it because it was so controversial. Delores tore the cheque up.
RIP Johnathan, Tim and the wonderful Dolores.

The cranberries have a lot of great great live versions of their songs. Dolores Oriordan was amazing on the stage !!

Takes me right back to 1995 this. Dolores was such a great vocalist and the lyrics of this are their very best. Shes greatly missed
Cranberries were quite "rock" but they had more ballads too. Amazing album tracks. Youve probably heard this song in half the Irish films and shows ever produced. Was in Derry Girls recently
