Hampton Roads Transit

Commonwealth Coach and Trolley recently agreed to accept Hampton Roads Transit #1223 into its fleet for preservation. This bus was reitred after 24 years and more than a million miles of service to the Hampton Roads Region. A few years ago, #1223 was rebuilt in-house by Hampton Roads Transit, which extended the useful life of the bus.
This is a 1999 Gillig Low Floor with a Cummins ISC engine and Voith D864.3 transmission (retarder was disabled) and Meritor RC822 axles.

Is this a 1999-2000 Gillig Advantage Low Floor Bus and HRT still have the 99 Gillig Advantage Low Floor Buses around or the Buses are going to be retired soon in 2024.

The bus was retired and on its delivery run to the Commonwealth Coach & Trolley Museum in Roanoke, VA
