  • Commonwealth Coach and Trolley recently agreed to accept Hampton Roads Transit #1223 into its fleet for preservation. This bus was reitred after 24 years and more than a million miles of service to the Hampton Roads Region. A few years ago, #1223 was rebuilt in-house by Hampton Roads Transit, which extended the useful life of the bus.
This is a 1999 Gillig Low Floor with a Cummins ISC engine and Voith D864.3 transmission (retarder was disabled) and Meritor RC822 axles.

Is this a 1999-2000 Gillig Advantage Low Floor Bus and HRT still have the 99 Gillig Advantage Low Floor Buses around or the Buses are going to be retired soon in 2024.
