- Do you remember Clank's mother from the original Ratchet & Clank game? After having played the Future saga especially Ratchet & Clank Future A Crack In Time, the introduction of Clank's father Orvus makes us wonder what ever happened to Clank's mother, does she need to be remembered?

3:53 Damn, that's actually kinda depressing. Orvus is a bit of a tragic character when you really look into his background. His gift to the Fongoids backfired on him, he essentially gave up his freedom and locked himself in the Clock for thousands of years to protect it, he never got to meet his son, his friend Darkwater was killed, and he was captured and interrogated by Nefarious (thanks for not doing something about that Ratchet). I hope that he's brought back in a future game, this poor guy needs some happiness.
Little side note: While it's not a theory about Clank's mother, I have a theory on why Orvus recruited Sigmund. Thousands of years with nothing but your hivemind to talk to? That poor guy must have been lonely as hell. So he recruited a janitor bot from Viceron to keep him company. It's really the only sense I can make of Orvus recruiting Sigmund. I mean, what can Sigmund do ability/fixing wise that the powerful Zoni can't?

I'll never forget the ending scene for ratchet and clank 1 after you beat chairman drek and destroy the big machine too. like when clank walked off on his own thinking ratchet left him but he turns around and sees him again. it's so beautiful I think would you say?

I think orvus creating the soul of Clank while his mother creating the physical structure make them BOTH eligible in having a hand in creating Clank 🤔 rather than Her just being labeled just a 'robot factory'.

That computer on the factory in Quartu most clearly is Clank's mother. It's part of the machine that makes SentryBots. How it's related to Orvus? This one is a big paradox. Orvus might have hacked into the machine inside Drek's factory, causing it to malfunction and produce Clank. That could very well be why Orvus claims that he created Clank. Who knows? Maybe he had a Zoni with him that escaped one machine and got into Clank's body. However, when that Zoni entered Clank's body, it might have lost its memory.

Does anyone understand why Ratchet said "Oh brother" in that cutscene?
I interpreted that scene as Ratchet feeling uncomfortable surrounded by a sudden flood of emotions.
If you disregard a Crack in Time and the entire Orvus and Zonie connection, Clanks creation was still intentional. Clanks Motehr, the Fabrication Computer was clearly sentient and knew of Drekks Plans so she created Clank AS a defect (since he is so much smaller and smarter) du send him out to stop drekk. She even showed him all he needed to know before he fled through the shute. Clank was a intentional Defect.
How could I forget?
That was the best part of the game.

Since the Zoni are made of energy it seems likely Orvus melded with the computer on Quartu to design and create Clank. During that process the Zoni energy gave sentience to the computer, thus creating Clank's mom. Orvus created the soul while Clank's mom created the body. She was still bound by her programming in creating Sentry Bots, but she did make her own choices like creating those 2 Info Bots to inform Clank and later Ratchet of Drek's plan. She probably already knew Clank's destiny as Timekeeper from Orvus, so since Ratchet and Clank made it to her she trusted Ratchet and Clank to keep each other safe. That way Clank can grow and mature until he was ready to become Timekeeper.

Well I mean clank's girlfriend from Going Commando does kind of look like an InfoBot, she even has the screen popping out of her mouth at the ending of GC
I always assumed for the movie that the lightning was a line of code from Orvis to show a more direct visual since the First game did make it more unexplained or so.
On a side note, what happened to Aphelion? She just dies in All 4 One unceremoniously and is replaced with Azimuth ship, I liked her since she was the first bit of info to the Lombax race and felt like the 5th new reoccurring character for the group (Quark and the plumber being 3 and 4). But no she died, a Lombax ship with Zoni enhancements just dies to a over sized electric leech.

I always figured that Orvus and the Mom had worked together. The Mom didn't like churning out war bots for destruction, but didn't know what else to do. Orvus came with the soul of Clank and the Mom figured she could make a defect for the soul to occupy. Maybe Orvus did show her future events so she got the timing right, but I'm not sure how the Mom would've become sentient. A lot of robots and computers in this world seem sentient, so maybe she was created that way. I'm not sure, and since it seems that she's now dead and Orvus is gone too, we may never know. Especially if the reimagining continues and never touches on it.

I honesty havn't met her mom but like I said before; this still could've worked In the Reboot's Movie and even though It still flopped that possibility never happened.
It is sad they didn't bother with that. Especially since that scene is better than the Reboot film in many ways and not by professional writers, just any staff at them at the time and how we got the crazy story/good humour it says a lot.
They have the Mother Zurkon instead which doesn't compare (the game at least).
Even the beginning of the movie/game they could have made it relevant as a way to send Clank on his way if there wasn't an Infobot. The Future Saga changes are good but it would have been nice to know if Orvus used the computer of the factory to be sent on his mission (unless I missed something) but Future Saga did a good enough job I'd say with how it approached other elements, the reboot it seems they missed a lot of potential.
Plus when you think about it, we already know Clank wasn't Born on Qwartu in Solana, but in the Great Clock by Orvus, when he left the first time to drop off Clank there, and I guess you can say his mom became his adopted mom, then to Viceron, Zoordoom Prison to get Sigmond, etc.
But what I'm getting at is, Clanks mom is his adopted mom, seeing as she had no part in creating him, Orvus did that, or we can assume he chose to place clank in her, as the final component for creating him.
If you look at it that way, perhaps!

This was a really good head scratcher. I always forgot about clarks mom but the time I got to future series which in itself still leaves me with dozens of questions.

Man I want the next ratchet game to dive deeper into the lore of the zoni there just so freakin cool I’ve seen some fan art of what the zoni dimension could look like and it’s amazing if I ever get the chance to work with insomniac I would definitely make this a reality

I think the lightning strike hitting the bot factoryin the remake was actually Orvus sending Clank's soul to be born.
I honestly never thought about this whole thing that way, but your theory makes really a lot of sense, i wouldn't be surprised if they made it an actual, official explanation

While Clank is a defect for not being like the robots that the factory made, I still think he was never a defect because he was created for a reason by Orvus and his mother computer. That second seen with him, Ratchet and his mom always gets me.

I've always believed that Clank's mom was a warbot, I never played the first game.
Such a classic the 1st one!
The way I see it is Orvus created a Zoni in the Great Clock (Polaris) and then had Clank created in the robot factory on Quartu (Solana) transferrin' the Zoni soul into the robot and Clank's mum sent him the infobot straight away to assign him with the mission to stop Drek, his intentions were to get Qwark's help and complete the mission but was chased and shot down by the Blarg and just happened to crash land on Veldin where Ratchet lived, met him and made a deal to work Ratchet's ship if he escorted him to Qwark, they never meant to stick around with eachother long but as the story progressed they were forced to work together longer cause they had no choice, but their bond grew and became unlikely friends, Clank's mum might of saw it comin', probably knowin' Ratchet to be an obstacle interferin' with Clank's goal but could of predicted that he wasn't a bad guy and could be useful in aidin' Clank instead of Qwark's help, that's one of the great origins and lore for the series. Clank also got both his parents which make him more lucky since Ratchet's is all dead.
Also, in Clank's subconscious, he summoned a bunch of Qwark's to swing his chronoscepter at, something Orvus knew, he did say ''perhaps a buffoon who has made life difficult for you in the past'' perhaps implying Qwark.
Right, that's another thing to address, maybe Orvus knew it too, I thought he was guessin' but he could of known it was Qwark, also cause he displayed the events that Clank done in the first game up above them while they were there.
4:50 AM, here in Italy when video and notification pops; so...Clank's Mother.
I don't mind on her for long time, what a shame, as a part of a robot fabric even after rewatching the scenes in Clank's subconscious...
Now i have some thoughts, maybe she was a bond or a melting of Orvus entity and original computer of Quartu's Plant; what was left was a Semi AI entity, who gives the birth to a new "child" (robot have a motherboard, no? Sometimes Clank reference to it, or Ratchet as the opening in the Reboot), looking after what he should/must do in/for the Universe (after Orvus put Clank's Soul into the body).
My opinion: she isn't Orvus, he traveled to Quartu for sure, but use her ability to build a new robot (she already do it, with Warbots) and maybe left some Zoni's Energy inside her circuits, to keep an eye over both Ratchet and Clank, as a "babyphone" even if he is in Polaris instead Solana.

I would like you to discuss what happened to Orvus. I think he went back to the Zoni dimention, beeing pure energy again. Maybe he'll comeback in one way or another. It could be fun for him or other Zoni to take a different form, maybe of some organic creature? Kinda like reincarnation / possession or something. Just a thought.

Also I think that It was Orvus communicating through the "mother" with Clank. Clank just assumed the computer as a "mother" not knowing that he actually talked to his father. The computer says "son" establishing itself as just a parent and Clank is the one to say "Mom?".

Also also, do you think that in reimagening Nefarious should be consider one of the parental pareties? I don't mean parental figure as he is faaaar from that haha don't get me wrong, but he is the designer of the robots and Clank as well... in a way. Just that Clank turned out disable... well different was Orvus doing. Maybe that's why Orvus actually wanted to talk to Nefarious?

That also explains how Neffy was able to create such perfect copy of Clank with relatively no time. He already knew the entire blueprint. Well except, the Zoni part, of course.
Orvus being the mother honestly doesn't sound crazy! As for the Orvus and Nefy theory, well we can't forget that the lightning strike (Orvus most likely) is what created Clank. It just so happens Orvus found the perfect factory for it, that's simply how I always saw it.

Yes, I thought that the lighting was what created Clank as a person, gave him his Zoni soul and mendled with the robot design to make a defect, but he still has some symilarities to the evil bots, not to mention his tank mode, so I though he was in design very symillar still. Like a limited edition of the same thing or... PS3 slim while other bots were just a regular PS3s.

If Orvus can see into the future, and was watching over Clank (so he must've seen the events of Up Your Arsenal) why do you think he didn't see Nefariosu as a villain and trusted him? Or maybe it was Pollyx who was posing as "the fellow scientist" that was suppose to talk with him?

but VIVI I really gotta ask you something, what do you think of the Simpsons overall nowadays? do you still like it? personally I still watch the more newer episodes and mostly get a lot of enjoyment and laughs out of them, but I seriously wish it would already! 30 seasons really is long enough I think! the show definitely lost steam after the 10th season, but seasons 11-20 were still fine. I'll never hate it no matter what but I'm sure you can agree to right?

To me the Computer/Clank's Mum made sense if combining the Future Saga and the Original Saga as a way for Orvus to send him to there and programmed his mission to be to find a 'hero'. Otherwise it wasn't always clear but it's the connection I made. There he just stumbled upon the Zoni and obviously the other events play out (obviously I might be missing something that makes this believable I just don't know what). Still can't get over the writing of that scene though compared to others when it comes to emotional scenes. The IRIS computer scene always felt odd but again I can't think of them as friends through every scene in the future games but the fact it wasn't followed up, probably to avoid it being more cringey but either way it would have been something compared to just the separation of the characters we see in ACIT.
I kind of imagine that Orvus met Kaden and Alister before Tachyon's invasion and tells him what will happen (or must happen) in order to prevent some sort of cataclysmic event that would end the universe and uniting Ratchet and Clank would be the only way to prevent that from happening. Kind of like a Thor: Ragnarok situation.
Thus explaining WHY Kaden wouldn't look for Ratchet if we believe Kaden is still alive.

Orivs did the right thing by having a Warbot factory make Clank's physical body. The best care taker is the one who can take care of the enemies quickly.

Also I Believe Clank IS Orvus’s Son Why else would Clank not only be immune to Sonic weaponry BUT Also Nether Energy?, Unless He Genuinely Cared About Clank, It would Also Explain Orvus’s Final message Explaining That he wished his son would do that which made him Feel Whole.

The only sound theory I know of is that Orvis sent Clank's soul to the robot factory as Clank's "mom" created him as a defect. It's clear she made him the way she did on purpose because of the conversation they have very late in the game when you go back to the robot factory planet. Clank's mom never intended for Clank to crash land on Veldin and meet Ratchet, she just knew Drek's plans (considering she was the one churning out his robot army like a queen bee) and wanted to get the word out on the off chance that someone would stop him.
And if Orvis could see into the future, don't you think he would've seen that the meeting with Dr. Nefarious on Zanifar was a ruse to capture and torture him into telling him about the Orvis Chamber? None of the Zoni have the ability to see into the future or the past for that matter. They just have the ability to control time travel. And as seen with the Fongoids, they have the power to give that ability to other people. (That actually gives me another good point. If Orvis could see into the future, he would have never given the ability to time travel to the Fongoids because he would have known it would eventually lead to the Fongoids tearing a rift in space-time due to their overuse of the ability.)
When it comes down to it, Clank's origins in the first game don't add up with what we're told in CiT because Insomniac can't see into the future either. They didn't have any plans to make Ratchet and Clank their own chosen one origin stories when they started working on that first game. That's a big issue with making connecting canon later down the line; it has to be able to perfectly fit into the current canon and a lot of people have trouble with that.
You have good points about seeing into the future. What if we look at in a way where everything that happened was intended to happen. If Orvus saw into the future, he probably deemed it as fate, changing it probably would've never resulted in Clank meeting Ratchet and all.
@@VtnVivi Ratchet and Azimuth talked about that at one point: That going back in time and saving the Lombaxes meant Ratchet and Clank could never meet. Ratchet would still be safe in another galaxy with his kind while Clank probably would've been destroyed in the spaceship crash on Veldin because Ratchet wouldn't have been there to find and fix him. And Drek would have gotten away with his plot. But I digress, I'm getting off topic.
Even if Orvus had the ability to see into the future, there's no guarantee that the future he saw would be the true future. As with time travel, making different choices as small as deciding to have chicken and broccoli for dinner instead of lasagna can vastly alter the future canon (for lack of a better word.) So it would still be better for everything to be left to their own devices to play out the way it did instead of trying to guess how he thinks it should play out and accidentally screw over the future in the process.
And I think that's exactly what he did. Orvus envisioned Clank to become the senior caretaker of the Great Clock in his place, but he ultimately wanted his son to decide for himself what he wanted out of life.

I actually thought it was pretty good overall. not great and especially not as amazing compared to hit and run but it's kind of sad how there haven't been any Simpsons games since then would you say? I'd love to see a new game for modern or next generation consoles but probably won't happen now do you think?
