  • In today's video we document a disaster of a Dodge hornet, customer pays 41 thousand dollars drives off the lot and the steering immediately makes noise and then eventually fails.
This is one of many documented with this issue. This is a significant safety concern with this car/suv.
What do your think of all the hornet issues?

There is a new definition for the word “JUNK”
    That definition is “STELLANTIS.

Well now we know Stellantis can rent out vehicles to make sounds for horror movies. The steering sounds like a geiger counter, a bed having a fun time, a creepy attic.

For multiple reasons, wouldn't come close to purchasing any Stellantis product at this point.

My nephew had a expensive ram truck and the brakes would engage at highway speeds for no reason! They never could recreate the issue. He traded it off.

If Stellantis isn't careful, people can go to other brands then the 4 brands that Stellantis has. You can buy a Subaru that won't break down on you. You see Chrysler and Dodge cars broken down on the side of road sometimes. Stellantis is building their cars with cheap parts just to save money and they don't care about their cars breaking down.

Even back in the late 70"s and 70's midwest winters, and the concurrant rust and pot holes, I've never heard that noise in a vehicle under 50,000 miles.
This at a time when most cars were worn out at 100,000 miles.

Be interesting to know how the sister vehicle is performing on the Alfa Romero side and if both vehicles are using the same components or just the body and fitting cheaper everything to the Dodge.

I had a similar issue with my Saturn years ago. I took it in and they needed to either replace or lubricate the intermediate steering shaft. I can’t remember if they issued a TSB or recall for that issue.

Yes, I had a Saturn Ion QuadCoupe that made creaking/clunking sounds whenever you steered, or went over a bump. The car at the time was only two years old, with less than 30,000 miles on the clock.
Turned out to be WORN OUT bushings on the strut rods (or similar part) and they had to replace them.
I don’t think they ever issued a TSB or recall on it as I never received any kind of notice.
That was just the first of MANY problems I had with the car as the years wore on. It’s ten years gone now, and was replaced interesting enough by a Dodge Challenger. ☺️

That creaking sound is normal, nothing faulty for all you conspiracy nuts. No need for service. That's the sound of the powershot storing it's electrified energy spooling up, ready to explode at the push of a button. Its so powerful it can be heard from the steering column. Any hellcat driver would kill for something like this. 😄 🤣 😂

Sounds like a bad or unlubed bearing in the steering shaft or something rubbing in the clockspring that gets the signals from the steering wheel buttons down to the instrument panel while allowing the wheel to turn. Probably annoying, but not a safety thing because the car seemed to steer just fine. If the power steering was going out, yeah, that's a problem but this is just a creak noise.

First of all if you spent $47k on a Hornet you should immediately take the car to the psychiatrist first then go to the dealer.

You buy an Italian car, you get Italian reliability. 😆 I'm in NJ, I was behind a Hornet today going NB on route 1. You could smell the weed several car lengths behind, had to close my vent. I was was watching another channel today, I won't say which one but they were saying that you can get 84 months with $0 down on a Hornet. I'm putting the pieces together now and it all makes sense.

I thought it was obvious that there would be reliability issues with this product. That's why I just _leased_ one. If it breaks, I don't really care. The video of a creaking sound lacks context, but even if I totally concede that these are reliability nightmares, I think you're failing to see the humor in the car. It's a fake Dodge. It's built in Italy. I would prefer to have leased a BMW X1 M35, but that was more than x2 the price. CX-30 Turbo didn't have all the features I wanted.

Can't believe the total crap cans these clowns are making. They make Chineezium look good. I got my first car in 1970 for $40, a 1960 Valient and it was run hard by 2 teens before I got it and it was running as good as when I bought when I sold it in 1972 for $60 bucks. Man those were the days. And by those days I mean when we used to think the future is better. Wow were we wrong.
