This required quite a bit of AV synchronising, but is well worth it, even though the video quality is at least fourth generation. Unusually for this channel, I did not film any of this myself. But I felt it was very important to round up all the best qualities that could be gleaned into one presentation as it is a show I fondly remember - A coming of age Slayer set for me. Thanks to the original videographer tolvis77 for his full length efforts on the day. He can be found on You Tube.
Audio is a live radio broadcast recording that I have separated into low and high frequencies through a multiband compressor for a wider characteristic with more immediacy and to conjure the wall of sound that was present in the mosh pit on that day. All video sources are linked below...

Cool to see Paul back in the day shortly after he got the job as Slayer's new drummer
Yeah, and doing a fantisatic job.
I was there, at the front. That Russian flag was actually my cousin's friend. He just came back from there. He's English. Kind of odd really. I had to sleep in the woods the night before because they lost the car in the car park. Fuck, what a gig!
Classic story to accompany a fucking classic show. I was near the front helping to build and topple the stack in the mosh pit. Bottles of piss bouncing of the back of my head and dodging all the lethal freebee frisbee records that were flying around like ordnance. My neck wouldn't put up with that shit anymore heheh.
Slept in the woods absolutely superb this is what i mean with my comment about it being not just music but an experience that can never be repeated. I was only young at the time but massively into metal but didnt know any older people into metal to go with anyway but man did i want to. I was delivering newspapers at the time when donington was going on delivering kerrang to various houses with the compulsory read front to back beforehand :) looking longingly at the monsters of rock ticket ads in there like a kid looking at the argos catalogue at christmas.
Welsh & down the front by one of those flags .........still recovering 😵
BRUH THANK YOU! I've been wanting somebody to put the official live audio over this video!
My pleasure dude. I was there that day. My first Slayer gig and it doesn't get any better.
There is no official audio if this show
The audio of this stems from a radio broadcast. Official enough for me. 🤷
Have the privilege to watch Slayer 4 days before that gig🤘
Thanks!
no worries
I am one of those faces at rhe front. Still feel the excitement.
The Almighty, Wasp, Slayer, Thunder, Skid Row, Iron Maiden what a line up. The thing to take from this is the atmosphere here and many others will never be recreated no matter who is playing and i never even went. It wasnt just the music it was it was the whole experience before and after setting foot on the hallowed ground of donington no mobiles or internet just people living in an incredible moment in time. Love these old Monsters of rock videos but so depressing knowing you never took part in it.
Killer show!
The speech at the end! 😊
@e.risner1904 I just noticed your mention of the speech at the end. I sure caught that too. As a matter of fact, I liked it so much that I typed the whole thing out in another comment a moment ago...
🤘😎👍
That was Tommy Vance Radio One DJ talking at the end.@@m.c.ruckus2032
**British Donington TV Host gives SLAYER and their music a very complimentary review at the end of the set... (46:00)
.... Tom: "Thank-You Very Much! I'm sure we'll be seeing you again, real soon, Good-Bye!....".
TV Host comments:
"...Absolutely mind numbing music! You know, some people are still fooled into thinking it's just wild noise thrown out of an amplifier but, to achieve that sound, musicians need to be as precise as a fighter pilot and as fit as an athlete.
THAT, plus talent makes SLAYER a major force in today's "Rock/Thrash" music scene!
They're a really great American Band, appearing for the first time... at The Monsters Of Rock!"....
🤘😅🎙️🔊
Last time they probably told the truth...
It’s sad to think there could have been a complete gig video of Paul Bostoph playing this set…that would have been incredible to watch!
He’s Absolutely on Fire here…as they all are, sound’s on point: humongous and clear…Kerry’s still got most of his locks…incredible gig ❤
I read in modern drummer magazine about 1994/5 that Paul was asked to join them permanently on the flight over to play these European gigs in the summer of 1992…you can see why here…🤘❤️
Remember being there and being gutted Lombardo wasnt there. But....yeah, Bostaph played a blinder.
🔥🔥🔥
FFS I miss this band so much.
I was there at Donnington in 92.....and they stole the entire show
Used have the whole festival on tape gutted their gone
The Best drummer replacement ...slayer sound still there...still craving for Joe jodirson replacement for Slipknot true sound.
I can tell the audio is from the camera mic and not from the mixing board because it's shot from Hanneman's side of the stage and has his guitar way louder because of his stage volume. This is okay because Kerry King was never a great lead player and his solos were always kind of ass. They changed their stage set up in later years and the guitar players started moving back and forth across the stage and stage volume wasn't the same issue anymore.
The audio I found for this was labelled as radio broadcast. Definitely not the camera mic is all I know as that sounded worse. Can't remember where it came from now. Been to sleep since then :)
This is only high quality if I look at the screen through binoculars.

Do you need someone to count them for you?
Too bad SLAYER made a fatal mistake with Dave Lombardo!!!! Every great SLAYER album has Lombardo behind the kit. I like Paul but it’s not even close!!!
Fucking badass. Even though i never liked Bostaph.
