All these old 2000 adult cartoons give such a nice, cozy feel. I like it when they stay mostly down to earth and don't overblow it with stuff like excessive swearing or gratious violence.
It's cool how good character's can stay down to earth not be like Family Guy. But I feel a good cartoon should have some of it's elements overblown. A good example is Gravity Falls. Some of it's character's are down to earth and true, Meanwhile the plot situation is basically the X-files on a kids sugar high.
@@josephcalabrese6337 oh yeah, that's good too. It kinda balances out.
@@josephcalabrese6337 what is it with cartoon stans and their hate boner for Family Guy? Is it so big you gotta bring it up on something completely unrelated?
I honestly want to see (or make if it's possible) a down to earth chill cartoon in modern times. Kinda like Downtown. Not overly adult, just natural dialogue and jokes when they are needed. And not a parody of modern society, smartphones do exist but not everyone is obsessed with them
Many of the network ones felt buttoned down to me. Stuff like The Oblongs and Bob, The Devil, and God are still alright, but they definitely feel "safe" despite their wacky set-ups.

Wait, he only won because almost nobody participated and he was the only one to follow the rules? I won a contest the same way! I did an animated PSA for my local water companny. It was horrible so it wasn't ever published, but at least the laptop that was also part of the price is really cool.
There was a Comicbook drawing contest at my local library that I participated in. There were two categories which were Cover and Panel Scene but I went with Cover because I knew my limits lmao.
But I ended up winning because I included all the important details, such as filling out the backstory info and such. My brother also entered but he didn't actually include any info so his was rejected, but I feel like maybe othe kids also forgot to fill out the non-drawing parts.
I wonder if that's up somewhere still.
I should probably have mentioned that it was for original characters only, so I think that may also have been a rule others didn't follow. I only vaguely remember the winner of the Panel category, it was back in 2008, maybe 2009, though.
I've won a few art contests by the skin of my teeth xD
My happiest so far has been winning an 'honorable mention' type place in a frickn Mindless Self Indulgence video contest just out of sheer aesthetics looking cool xD

MTV is so short-sighted. Abandoning their animation potential to pursue live-action just because it's cheaper.
MTV died a long time ago.
@@BaranoffIsaac fuckin MTV, they cancel the one show that rose them to popularity (I know it was also other cartoons and their music videos but B&B had a huge influence on MTV).

It always kind of bugs me when people make their self-insert the cooler lead of the main cast while exaggerating everyone else or making them have a notably worse image. As much as I love Regular Show, you can see the same thing with Mordecai
If that was the intention, I'm not sure they succeeded. Nitz was kind of a loser. And personally, I thought he was pretty bland, and the other guys were far more sympathetic and likable.
Idk I kinda always got the feeling mordicai was just as big of a loser as rigby or benson
Mordicai is the biggest simp in the world. Even Rigby got a stable relationship before him
But Nitz and Mordecai are honestly pretty sad losers. Even when they win, everyone else around them kind of wins more and better. They are the protagonists but I think making the loser with less skills and powers the other guys is a way to kind of put the viewer in that position
Brian Griffin is the embodiment of that, he shares all of the same beliefs and voice is closes to Seth's normal voice but now he's been more exaggerated with his liberal beliefs.

I feel like the reason why collage settings isn't a very popular setting for animated show is simply because that collage culture doesn't really exist like how it does in the US. In Europe, from my experience at least, collage is just treated like the final stage of school and not much more. The social aspect does exist, but nothing like the "live hard, die young" attitude that is depicted in shit like American pie.
That sounds like a valid reason
