  • Very straightforward task, as simple as removing two screws and a display housing. Remember to use a plastic prying tool to remove the plastic housing. If you don't have a prying tool, use a credit card or something similar. Metal screwdriver will leave ugly marks in the plastic.
    If you have the segment display, you can replace it with a dot matrix one from a higher trim of the car. I used one from a Peugeot 1007. It fits perfectly.

      Try eBay, search for a part number 9648634177 or Peugeot 1007 LCD (it's the same part). I bought mine from a local junkyard

    MY BERLINGO'S LCD SCREEN SO DIM ,IT IS VERY HARD TO READ WHAT IS DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN. I WONDER IS ONLY SOLUTION IS REPLACING THE SCREEN AS SHOWN OR DO YOU THINK THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE SOMETHING ELSE? ALSO WHERE DO YOU BUY THE SCREEN FROM PLEASE? MINE IS 2005 MODEL BERLINGO.

    • @MrGigga2160
      @MrGigga2160  Před 3 lety +2

      If it's just dim and the screen itself is fine, you can just replace the light bulbs on the back side. There are three bulbs and they burn out over time. They are really easy to replace. I don't remember the exact type, but most car parts shops will recognize it and sell you a new one. They are very cheap

    Does the whole unit need to be replaced. I thought it would just need the bulbs replaced. Useful video, though.

    • @MrGigga2160
      @MrGigga2160  Před 3 lety

      You can just replace the bulbs if you have uneven backlighting or one of them burns out. I replaced the original simple display with a graphical one. I should have included before/after, but it's too late now

    Does the new display show more information than date/time and radio station name without additional coding? Thanks in advance for the information and best regards.

    • @MrGigga2160
      @MrGigga2160  Před 2 lety

      Everything works without coding with the exception of temperature readings. I had to add the temp sensor on the side mirror and it didn't work until coded in.
      Information about fuel consumption, average speed etc also works, but you need a wiper stalk with a button on top to cycle the screen to access it

    • @BBBTVPL
      @BBBTVPL Před 2 lety

      @@MrGigga2160 Thanks for the reply! That's what I thought, I'd need a push-button stalk to operate the additional functions. What do you think, is it possible to bring such a button out onto the dashboard, for example, without having to replace the entire column stalk switch unit? Best regards!

    • @MrGigga2160
      @MrGigga2160  Před 2 lety

      @@BBBTVPL it would be probably easier to add the button to the wiper stalk itself. When you look at the stalk, the top portion rotates and this part can be removed (use a large flat head screwdriver to pry it open). This will reveal several circular conductive paths under it, two of those are used for the button function even if the button is not there. PSA used the same column stalk unit in a lot of cars, many actually having the button. So the easiest and cleanest solution would be to find a Citroen/Peugeot car from the era with the correct wiper stalk with the button on top and replace just the top portion. Try local junkyards maybe? I bought the whole wiper stalk from a guy who repaired the things and just used the top portion. It was much cheaper then buying the whole column unit, those are pretty expensive.

      @@MrGigga2160 Super idea! Thanks for suggesting this solution to me! I'm just now looking around for a push-button end piece and new display. I will probably order them through an auction portal. Please confirm if I won't have to rework (cut, grind) the current stalk. Some time ago I had whole unit replaced with a new one, from Valeo. I think this won't be a problem? The original ones are from DAV but the design should be the same. Best regards
      Edit: I transferred the old tip (DAV) to the new stalk (Valeo) for a test and everything fits :). I have ordered all the parts (tip with button and display) and they should come to me next week. I'll let you know how the modification went for me :)
