      It's mostly because of the meta shift. Before role lock the meta was goats, where you have a lot of close range brawl characters. In brawl you essentially run into the enemy team so your Rein can swing into them. Now meta is double shield, where you poke out the enemy team. The poke style has more long range heroes who can play split and still support each other (mainly Bap, who can provide a lot of healing from far away).

      Yes he's dying a bit more than the tanks that stay alive the most, but he's still 10th out of 45 with over 400 hours played, that's not so bad. The only real way to counter this play on high ground is all going heroes that can go across the left side void. Something like dva monkey genji hanzo mercy lucio, that way they don’t get caught in the pincer, and only half of paris is there to fight, effectively making it a 6v3. Now it’s possible the rest of the team rotate around to help them, but by the time they do they’re most likely already dead and the valiant have a successful push off. Of course opening picks could be used as well, but since the team plays in groups of 3, it would be really hard to get a successful flank off without dying to one of them.

      @@fredhenzell-thomas6448 the way it works is that, they will tp to the point, I want them to at least two shields so they can block the damage, rein and orisa or sigma. Moira for extreme healing and Lucio to just heal while doing damage. Paris must come to the point or it will be a c9. And rein can just swing and kill. The Lucio would get a lot of ult charge from how much damage the tanks may get. But the Moira should just keep them alive unless they are a dps Moira. With how much damage rein can do and the heals. Paris would PROBALLY crumble under all the damage. You may think what about genji? as I told the Lucio. And you may say brig. Well rein will just overpower her. So technically this should work. Here’s how I, a person that’s pretty bad at OW, would try to get past Eternals hold.
    Like you showed, when the Valient pushed the Orisa-Genji group, they just backed off, and then killed them with dragon blade. What I would do is, knowing that they would back off when they get pushed, is to save Hanzos dragon strike for the Orissa group.
    So they would push the Orisa group, which would make them back down the stairs again, but while they are pushing Hanzo would aim his ult at the bottom of the stairs. Now the Eternal would be trapped just like the Valient was the first push. If they killed that group, then they could easily walk onto the point, and now the Sigma-Baptiste group would be stuck where they were.
    Basically what I said is, Valient should have used Hanzos ult on the Orisa group, not the Sigma group.

    Important to know that on Hanamura, the defending team has an incredible advantage because the map geometry is extremely powerful; and in a game of Overwatch, defenders decide where the engagement happens, attackers decide when it happens. The simple fact that the defending team can cherry-pick their position is insanely powerful.
    Valiant's solution out of this is to use resources in a way that will net them more angles / high ground than Eternal; they never fully committed on shutting down Hanbin who was single-handedly denying 3 off-angles. By gaining more space in one way or another, Valiant will have more choices and instead of reacting to what Eternal does like in this match, they would have more options to consider. Once a team has less and less options, the more likely they are to make a mistake / end up playing reactively instead of proactively.

    Valiants had no chance. Fielder's healing was godlike and needless to say his fields. And the coordination they had and the preparation for every single scenario just made the Valiants have no choice but to overwhelm one side, but it was not possible.

  • @Xardian7
    @Xardian7 Před 3 lety

    I would have tried mei and lucio swapping one dps and Brig. With wall and speed the Valiant could have collapsed on one of the 2 groups. The issue is that all of this is read by defense so no chance to get them on surprise.

    They could have done the sym tp from the top right courtyard to the pillar on point through the window then set up a bunker on point. The eternal didn’t have much high damage outside widow so bring double shield and they win bc sparkle gets countered by sym and widow is blocked by double shield

    Could have gone with a 3v3 as well with reaper/Winston/Lucio vs the sigma group and Doomfist/sigma/brig vs the orisa group ...with reaper dealing so much dmg to sigma or even lucio booping him off the HG so that reaper can basically deal with him on lower ground .with bap forced to either fight winston and lucio or backing off to help the sig ..it would create so much chaos

    After watching this video and taking a look at all of the factors that went into these team fights, it appears almost as if the Valiant threw this map. While double shield is most definitely the meta right now, trying to mirror Paris (excluding the Valiant's DPS lineup) for attack on a map like Hanamura puts LA at a severe disadvantage as the Eternal can simply back up and still output effective damage from a distance. If you watch at 6:38, Jonah Lee-Ash himself even talks about how low mobility against a comp like this is weak and can be easily shut down by good execution, which the Eternal are very good at. In my opinion, I think it would have favored the Valiant to run a brawl-heavy comp with Reinhardt, Zarya, Symmetra, Mei, Brigitte, and Moira. LA could go just pass the choke before using Symmetra's teleporter to get onto the top right high ground, where the close range Eternal group is. Mei could then temporarily wall off any incoming damage from the long-range Eternal group while helping to freeze the enemies in front of her. Brigitte (with her inspire ability) and Moira could provide loads of healing to allow the rest of the team to keep pushing forward. Finally, Symmetra's sentry turrets would be the cherry on top as they create one more problem for the close-range Paris group to deal with; if they (Paris) decide to focus on destroying the turrets, they will be faced with a ton of incoming damage from LA, but if they decide to focus on the LA team as a whole, they will be slowed down and dealt damage from the sentries. I wasn't able to find the hero bans that were in place for this matchup on the OWL Twitter, so if any of those heroes that I suggested for that comp were banned, feel free to reply to this comment and let me know.

      @seojaepark Před 3 lety

      Orisa mei Ana + 1 are banned, I don't think they threw the game. End of the day some teams run comfort picks over meta and it can still work. I believe they just lose the neutral, Eternal just had the better engagements and played it really smart.

    • @velocities8242
      @velocities8242 Před 3 lety

      Now that I think about it, why didn't the Valiant just push Hanbin and Fielder on the second level whilst throwing in the dragon strike behind them? This would have forced them to either drop down from the floor they were on or else get pincered by the Valiant.

  • @Keidon1337
    @Keidon1337 Před 3 lety +1

    I feel like the hanzo pick was too weak, his kit doesn't allow him to really target tanks as well as other dps. I believe that a mei would. Have been really strong against Paris. Mei could freeze the bap and allow tracer to finish him, then target sigma, and ultilizing meis wall, they could have also cut off the sigma half from the orisa half.
