    looking good. just a note to future builders. headstuds should go in dry on the block side with roughly 5nm of torque applied.

    • @-LFATV
      @-LFATV  Před 6 lety

      Michael Malloy im not an expert by all means but why would arp provide lubricant if they didn’t recommend to put them on the studs.

    • @malloymotorsports780
      @malloymotorsports780 Před 6 lety

      you want to apply the lube to the top side of the stud, nut and washer so when you torque the studs you get a more accurate torque. the idea is that you really don't want the stud to rotate while they are being torqued. hope this helps.

  • @bru319
    @bru319 Před 4 lety +1

    Just a couple observations. Plasti gauge needs to be laid across the bearing not in the direction of rotation. I notice that the block and especially the head have been really cut back. Toyota allows 0.010" total deviation from factory specs. When you see a head that has a flat where it should be rounded at the place where the thermostat standpipe connects, it's been cut back a lot. To compensate, you need to measure how much is been removed from the block and the head and replace it with a thicker gasket . In my case I used a 0.020 solid metal shim gasket sprayed on the bottom with Permatex copper and laid it on the block surface then I put a standard Toyota gasket on top of that. No issues after 35K miles and 5 years. Not compensating for the material removed from the head and the block can result in a higher compression ratio and the timing being off.

    • @-LFATV
