  • Falls Park on the Reedy. After just one look at the 345 foot long, 12 foot wide, and 8 inches thick bridge suspending high above Falls Park on the Reedy River, it may be hard to believe that the construction of this project only took 12 months! Another interesting fact is, that the Liberty Bridge’s concrete reinforced deck is supported by a single suspension cable. But don’t worry! The bridge’s strength is truly unmatched as the cable systems that work with and against each other support the bridge and hold its miraculous curvature. You may be familiar with similar structural work built in Europe, but Greenville’s Liberty Bridge is a one-of-a-kind creation, and you simply cannot find anything else like it in the United States. Let’s talk about Falls Park on the Reedy. Located in the heart of downtown, the park features beautiful stonework, walking trails, waterfalls, picnic areas, lush gardens, and public art installations, complemented by the graceful architecture of the Liberty Bridge. The two-acre Pedrick's Garden, which serves as the park's main entrance, honors a former community leader instrumental in establishing Falls Park. Let’s talk about The Grand Bohemian Lodge. The lodge features natural materials, such as cedar, hardwoods, and regionally sourced stone. Many guest rooms are placed below the lobby to provide site lines to the falls and towering trees. Some rooms feature terraces to provide a special indoor-outdoor connection. Rustic yet sophisticated, the interiors are complemented by geodes and jade-colored accents that add pops of color. The lobby features a central black stone-laden fireplace, while the exterior is adorned with cedar shingles in two different tones and stone around the base that add texture and warmth. Art is also a significant design component, with many pieces taken from the owner’s private collection. Paintings and sculptures depicting everyday Native American life are placed throughout the property. Two notable features are the extensive stone arrowhead collection near the event space and the approximately 14-foot-tall bronze of a warrior on horseback. This is definitely a great spot to visit. But even if you are just traveling through Greenville, South Carolina this is a good place to grab a coffee and walk around the river. The hotel entrance is free so you can enjoy the atmosphere, or sip your coffee on the back deck as you enjoy the view of the river.
