How is the Winix the clear winner in price? It's $488 compared to Conway's $498 from those links; that's basically the same price.
I was wondering, moving into 2020, has this list changed at all, have you tested any of the newer models?
Natasha Taylor, I paid $129 for mine. Stop shopping down on Rodeo drive, they really hike up the prices.
Instant like for anyone who tells us the #1 at the beginning
exactly
@@benzarre No the IQ health Plus Pro is the best of the best and Swiss made.
@@alexandrasophia24 Thanks, that's just what I was looking for, now if I could just find a way to justify spending $900 for it. I guess not feeling sick every day would be a good one. ; )
all this sucks... build your own. I have the winix, it barely pulls air into the filter at full blast.
@@tisurmaster How do you build your own?
This video is low-key one of the best reviews, EVER, straight to the point, explains everything important, why each one is better, what are the options, why some might be better. Thank You!
If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. czcams.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
this is one of the best video reviews i've seen in years
Our video production team is pretty amazing.
Definitely the most detailed air purifier review I've seen so far.
Just bought the Winix 5300-2 a week ago before finding this vid, and I agree! I was looking at the new air purifiers from Filetret at Walmart, and while these seem like they would work well, I wanted to look around before making a decision. I then found the Winix on Amazon for not only cheaper, but better performanc, and the added Plasmawave feature was a steal. So far its been great! Will be looking into buying another or two for our apartment, they just are too good of a deal to pass up. I was looking into larger purifiers, but the price jumps up way more than I want to pay.
Excellent and informative video. I already purchased two of the Winix model but was just coming here to validate my purchase so to speak. Your video is making me feel better about my choice AND your responses to people's comments and questions on here is also wonderful to see. Thank you very much for your reviews.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the thorough review. Still undecided but I found it very helpful. Also, good job responding to questions.
Thanks to all the works that you have done. This video deserves more Likes!
What a great video, thank you! I went with the Winix for my granddaughter's home. Question: will you do a new 2019 video? What about GermGuardian, and expensive Dyson units? Test more! Good job, dude.
Thanks for this vid.
I watched it and it helped me decide to get the 5500-2 and it saved my will to live during allergy season.
The night mode is very, very quiet and it moves a lot of air even at the level 2 fan setting.
I would ignore the sensor settings and trust your allergy response (or the pollen reports if they are accurate for your area) because the sensor on the 5500-2 isn't good at pollen detection. On peak pollen days in summer I turn of if the automatic setting if and keep it on 2 and it keeps my allergies at bay like a champ.
I just bought the Winix 5300-2. It's nice and quiet and pushes a lot of air. I had a musty odor in the bathroom, very high humidity in my house and the Winix cleared it up in about an hour.
I bought it at a liquidator for $80. I'd beware of the GermGuardian especially that model shown, I read reviews on Amazon that a couple people said they smelled smoke coming from it. Do your own research.
Thank you! This was an extremely helpful and thorough video (without being too lengthy).
It’s easy to speed up the playback. Click on the video and then the doors in the upper right corner. You can change the speed to 1.25x or 1.5. I do this a lot on slower videos where I want to get to the info I’m seeking.
Having psoriasis, I have been looking for a good air purifier. The 5300-2 is definitely my pick, thanks to you guys.
I have the Winix C545 and its going great so far
how about now?
I own the Winix 5300-2 and I love it. I have always had an air purifier for years growing up, and this unit is the most quite, the most efficient, and most effective in making my room feel clean when I walk in. The fan can be so quite I don't even know it is on, which is most of the time. Did I mention how fast it cleans the rooms air?? I went ahead and bought a years supply of filters just to be on top of my air. Highly suggest it. Just do it.
Great reviews! Thank you! Would love to see a similar review of the Bissell Air 400.
Best video I've seen on air purifiers by a long shot!
Thanks for helping make my choice on an air purifier.
Fantastic review!! You’re covering details no one else is, so thank you for that. Please do a new 2019 review with more air purifiers, if you can🙏🏽
Any models in particular you're looking at? Most of the new models are mostly just adding wifi control to the same filter technology.
Your Best Digs thank you for your reply! I’m currently living in Beijing and I see a lot of stores selling Xiaomi, Dyson, and Blueair. If you could get your hands on any of these brands and compare them to the Winix, I think that would be awesome! Thanks again and good luck with your channel!!
I had a Holmes tower unit from Target that was so loud I could not be in the room with in running on any speed but low, then I saw the 5300-2 the Winix on highest speed is just barely louder than the Holmes on low. Donated the Holmes to the local Vets Society with a fresh set of filters and the manual. My Winix runs 24/7and after a year I still love it. My wife says the whole house smells cleaner, less allergy problems and since it is not in the bedroom at night I put it in manual on the highest speed to cycle the whole house.
I’m so glad you guys exist!
Great set of reviews. We find the Winix 5500-2 to be a great choice too. It's excellent for dust and allergies.
The 5500-2 is essentially the same unit as the 5300-2 shown in this video. Though the 5500-2 is a bit better because of its upgraded carbon filter that is pellet based instead of fiber based
Great review video! I liked that you also made the comparison to smaller air purifiers. Really thorough! However I am finding that the Winix 5300-2 has limited seller options on Amazon, and it's not sold for less than $180US. I am able to find it for the $120-130 price at other retailers but it might be worth updating your links. Thanks again!
Thank you for making my Air Purifier buying decision faster than ever 👍
We love our Winix we got at Costco. Amazing how much it filters out!
Great review. Thanks for the comprehensive info.
Thank you for this, Honeywell makes it unnecessarily complicated to obtain this information online.
Perfect video explanation! Thank you!
I'll buy 2 Winix this week on amazon!
Just so u know they sell refurbished units for way less at winix.com. I bought one last year love it. I think they sold out of the 5300-2 but the other unit they have is basically the same. It usees the same filers and has the same specs. Was originally a unit sold at costco.
Hey, what a great review.. well done..
I need the air purifier and dehumidifier, is there any combo that you recommend? Could you do a video.
We have a 100m2 house, i should put air purifier in every room or its enough one in the middle of house? Where should i put it?
Awesome video. Can you do one for air quality meters and radon ones?
Such a great review. We needed a thorough and concise video and that's what you made. Thanks! If you could add a link or note about replacement filter recommendations, that would be great!
Buying filters is tricky: HEPA filters *should* all use basically the same filter media. It's not hard to make these filters perform well, but that doesn't mean every "generic replacement" filter will be guaranteed to use the right media.
The Winix-branded 115115 filters are pretty easy to find for a relatively-low cost at places like Home Depot. The sold-by-Amazon listing also appears to be reliable based on customer reviews. That was one of the factors in our recommendation of the 5300 series.
So are the off brand 115115 filters just as good or do you know? Several on amazon for much better prices.
Tells you number 1 right away. Love this video
I’m still looking for something that covers VOCs or volatile organic compounds. Only reviews I’ve seen covering that is vacuum wars’ dyson and enviroklenz reviews
Thank you so much for this video, very helpful!
Very well structured video.
Thanx, this review saved me tons money.
Thank you. Excellent job
Thanks for the great review!
I've been using the small Honeywell one for a few months now. I honestly did not notice any difference in my allergies. I use it in my bedroom and I like to sleep in complete darkness. 1st problem, when my cats jump on it the settings get messed around (Speed change, lights turn back on). 2nd, the light button stopped working so the light could not be turned off at all! I contacted Honeywell, and after two months I finally received my replacement. Less than a month later and the light button is broken again on this model. :( Hoping I can send this one back for a return, so here I am researching for a different brand.
we dont hav winix in india, I have huge dust problem in house
we have philips and coway here , which is best
?
coway has airmega 200, airmega 150.
i am confused what to choose
I bought my FAP-TO2-F1 ROOM TOWER 1YR AGO AND... It's now whistling like crazy. Any idea as to how fix this problem or is it the motor is shot and needs replacement???
I just bought this air purifier, I tried to turn it on but it is not working. Only the speed buttons 1 and 2 flashing. Any idea how to make it start working
Does the Plasmawave turn on by default with the Winix 5300-2 and 5500-2 each time you power it on?
How does the Alive Air unit compare? It would be interesting to see based on the claims for the unit.
Awesome. So glad I found this channel

Great review
Love my 5300-2 winix!
I’m reading a lot of reviews regarding ozone for the winix
I have been researching air purifiers for my bedroom. Currently I have the Winix C545 in my home. When talking to a Winix Customer Services person, I was told the C545 is made exclusively for Costco and they don't have another purifier that they sell to anyone that is the same as that unit. However, I have seen 2-3 with the same specs and controls that appear to be identical to it. Possibly the Customer Services rep is not as familiar with the Winix line as they should be.
So far I am impressed with he units ability to trap dust, which is one of the reasons I need an air purifier. The other reason is my nose is typically stuffed up when I wake up in the morning. So far the air purifier is not resolving that issue. So I'm continuing to test other products.
I noticed you didn't mention BlueAir, Rabbit Air or Aqualite-US as alternative air purifiers. Is there a reason they were not mentioned or tested (cost, etc.). From my initial investigations they appear to be the top of the line units. In particular Aqualite-US, which has the FDA, CDC backing their result and NASA, which worked with them to develop some of their technology.
Finally, thank you for putting together an excellent review of the units in the presentation.
Thanks!!, using the winix for my new apartment
Does it work?
Good vid. Have you guys looked at the larger levoit model, the LV-PUR131?
Without independent testing, we wouldn't trust Levoit's advertised numbers again.
Good Comparison.👍🏼. just ordered 5500-2. 😊
Nice video work.Very professional
Thanks!
i read the article on your website and i consider myself lucky to have found your channel while i was looking for an air purifier. During the last few months i remember seeing those Dyson air purifiers everywhere in shops, they really have a beautiful design, very different from everybody else, and i was about to buy one of those.
Most reviews made by youtube channels mention pretty much nothing about the technical features, which is fundamental when reviewing something such as an air purifier. Most reviews keep talking about the proprietary technologies, the cool lcd screen and the phone app, but i came to realize it's mostly hype. Luckily i found channels like this that talk about what really matters in an air purifier, and instead of the Dyson i bought a Coway Mighty. The only thing i regret about buying the Coway is the design, i really would have liked to have an air purifier for my home that looked as cool as the Dyson one.
How is your Coway so far? Im looking for an purifier too for the dust in my room. Would happy to here from you. Thank you!
@@phanguyen7531 everything is fine, i use it all the time with the lowest settings and it is very silent. I use it in my room too.
What is e difference between H13 or H11 ? Any take on modify air ?
Have you tested SHARP PLASMACLUSTER zensational sir purifier??? Please do the video
what do you think about the xiaomi air purifiers?
I got the Coway. It was on sale for $160 and it Works very well. You should buy the Coway or Winix because they are Korean brands and air pollution is a real problem there.
Yeah, they should know, they get all the crap air that blows in across the sea from China's industrial hubs.
How us your experience with finding and replacing filters?
We bought the Winix 5500-2 after watching this video. Not sure if there’s a difference comparing to the 5300-2 knowing they use the same filter system. So far it works great 👍
The 5500 has a remote and comes with different carbon filter, but they should be very similar. Glad you found something that works for you!
Pretty much the same. 5500-2 has carbon granules in the filter it uses to reduce odors in the room . 5300-2 has a carbon-coated sheet, which is good but less effective than the 5500-2 model . Otherwise both units are pretty much identical. 5500-2 is slightly more expensive by about $30 (or more depending on where you buy it.
What if I wanted a washable filter to work with the 5300?
I’m ordering the winner ASAP!!
Watched another review of the winix and said that the sensor was just for odors rather than dust and is disipointing if true, does anyone know of that's accurate info ?
The 5500 is even better than the 5300 because the carbon filter has actual pellets instead and am buying 2 of them. They are a bit more at around 160, but well worth it
Where can l purchase this product in a store
Thank you very helpful !
honestly really appreciate your help. top bloke 👍❤
Happy to help!
My question is why the price jumped to $199 on Amazon for the same model?
What are your thoughts on the 5500-2? @ $249.
I got the coway for $140 and I love it!
Superb review
Just read this comment on amazon and wonder whats your opinion about that one.. I know its long but I would really appreciate if you answer. thanks a lot.
I bought this in 2018 excited about this new "plasmawave" technology. For the first 9 months or so this thing seemed to work great, the air always smelled fresh/clean and my lungs felt quite good. However, I noticed after a while that as soon as the carbon filter had been exhausted, the air was noticeably more stale as if though the purifier was not "purifying" the air. Around this same time and till now, I've experienced what I thought were allergies (constant slight congestion/irritation in the lungs and sinuses). Finally just before tossing this thing, I decided to take it apart. Man was I shocked. First of all my unit appears to have been taken apart previously as you can see in one of the pics, some of the clips internally are broken (this was the first time I ever opened it up). Next, we get to the "plasmawave" bit of the filter. Which is nothing more than two tufts of carbon fiber needles attached to a crappy high voltage power supply which in turn generates a coronal discharge and ozone/hydroxyl radicals. Now this in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. However notice that the fibers are covered in dust, this renders them useless as the high voltage discharge happens at the very tip of the nano-needle/fiber. Second notice how many have become dislodged from their tufts and are static clinging to the plastic. How many of these have I actually inhaled as they became airborne from the filter? Is this the cause of my lung irritation? Do I now have carbon fibers embedded in my lungs? Time will tell. My advice to you all is to just stick to what works, HEPA filters and UV lights. Some ozone is far better than whatever horrid cancer awaits my future thanks to these lovely fibers...
Was wondering about the Sharper Image Purity Air Sanitizing IONOPURE
How much watts. 24hours or some hours per day
Great review! The only thing that could have made this better would be the pricing of filters which can be a big factor.
Thanks, Tom! We did factor that and talk about replacement options in the written post (see the link in the description), but we don't give specific prices in our videos since they change so frequently.
Can it also filter the air of the room from bad smells?
Put it on the high desk or on the floor?
Have anyone tried the electrolux air purifier eap150 or eap300 ?
No frills, to the point review. Hard to find such high quality review these days
Can anyone tell me why NONE of these are available in the UK
Any difference between filter purifiers & water based air purifiers?
Did I miss anything on units that emit ozone? I am wanting one that will not emit ozone. Some companies claim their models don't, but with more digging, found that this was not true.
Did you test the IQAir?
Good information, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Will this absorb my German Shepherds fur floating inside the house after grooming her.... I'm worried about my up coming baby... Can anyone suggest me if the air purifier helps me with this....
Nice work
Thank u
The Honeywell HPA 300 got really bad reviews on Best Buy. Could the Honeywell - HPA 200 be so much better?
Very helpful
Great review.. thank you.. one question-
In Amazon reviews for the Winix there seems to be a consistent concern around the plasma wave emitting ozone that could be dangerous.. do you have any idea or suggestions?
I was wondering the same thing! I see you havent gotten a reply though.
The California Air Resources Board lists the ozone output as acceptable. There's no noticeable smell or increase in static cling in our testing. This isn't really anywhere close to the old "ionic breeze" ozone levels, but it does seem to boost efficiency slightly.
@@YourBestDigs thank you for your very informative video, I almost bought the Winix but I feel any kind ozone is bad. Would you personally still used it in a baby room?
@@YourBestDigs can the ionizers or uv thing be turned off in this model?
I want to buy an gold air purifier and you help me decide I'm not too concern about the ozone but I want to also buy one for my girlfriend and I don't know if thst might affect her.
So if this has the option to turn it off that would great
How about Honeywell I8 HAC30?
I was really impressed very awesome 👏
Thoughts on the Winex HR900?
Have you guys ever tested a Medify air purifier?
wondering if it will help in a classroom. Not so much worried about the oder, more about viruses. Next school Year Im hoping to keep the air clean (less virus) for my students. Does the Winix have UV? Does that matter? Thank You in advance for your response.
Check out this update in our written post: www.yourbestdigs.com/reviews/the-best-air-purifier/#covid-19
Short answer: soap is the best defense.
We still don't know enough about SARS-CoV-2 to say if a HEPA filter is worth it; for more contagious viruses like measles the small number of virus bodies that slip through are enough to be a risk. Negative airflow (sucking the air out of a room and replacing with outside air) is the strategy used for hospitals, but if you can't do that finding a way to cross-ventilate through open windows may help.
Are air purifiers supposed to be kept on 24/7?
I have a 550 sq. ft. living room with 9 ft. ceilings. Wouldn't a cubic feet measurement be more helpful as to effective an air purifier would be?
I really wish we lived in a world where everyone was this thorough. :)
The clean air deliver rate (CADR) is actually cubic feet per minute where the filter effectively removed 80% or more of the contaminant (tested for smoke, pollen and dust). Smoke is the result most often used for recommendations.
So if you know the actual volume of your room, forget about square feet and divide that number by the CADR and see how many minutes it takes for the machine to filter an equivalent volume of air.
The recommendation guideline (square feet * .6 to find an appropriate CADR for a room with an 8-foot ceiling) is based the expectation that you can actually get all your room air through the filter four times per hour. But remember that dead areas in air circulation can trap dust while the filter draws free-flowing air from somewhere else.
Very good video
Current consumption কত ? সেটা তো বললেন না , এইখানে ?
What about the Germ Guardian AC5350B? Does it use more electricity like the one your reviewed?
It has the same peak airflow/cleaning speed specs so power efficiency and noise should be similar. The biggest difference between the 4825 and 5350 should be more quiet low-speed options (five speed settings instead of three).
I would love to see 2021 version for this.
