I highly recommend the "Melodic Chord Phrases" book. I got it a few weeks ago and have been playing through the first chapter, and I feel I've already gained a lot from it. Besides the fact that the examples are really fun to play, I like that the phrases introduced are not exhaustive/comprehensive and so it's not so difficult to try out new ideas based on the examples and adapt them to pieces you are learning without getting overwhelmed by too many choices. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hey Tim, I just got your new book last week - it’s been great so far.
There’s not a lot of books out there that do what that book does… approaching bass, melody, and harmony all together is a true art. Ted Greene’s books are great, but they’re not very approachable (in my personal opinion) - and are quite a bit dated by now. I think your new book is what this style of playing needed at this exact moment in history.
I can only hope that you keep writing books - I know for sure I will keep buying them.
New to your channel after going down the Ted Greene rabbit hole. Thank you for all of your knowledge. I bow
Thanks maestro !
Great stuff. Love the sound of contrary motion
Ohhhh. That is cool. Gonna try.
So Talented Tim.Thanks for Posting.👌 You always get the tone some of us strive to achieve.Superb.
Thank you !
Very nice lesson!
I need to get your book soon
Thank you Tim!!! More of these please!! And maybe about your Approach to ALA Bill Evans harmony and arrangements. :) Take care Tim!!
Can you tell us about this guitar? Thanks for your videos.
See the comment above.
Does one only need the 3rd & 7th to theoretically name/rationalize a chord?
No, but you might have to have a little flexibility in your naming. You also have to understand the context that a particular voicing is existing in.
Tim is that a real D'Aquisto by the master himself?
Nope, this is a reissue from the early 2000s made in Japan. Very nice guitar but as far as I know Jimmy never made a 15 in lower bout. They call it the New Yorker Jr.
Damn I wish you had one or a real D'Angelico. Guys like you need to have a guitar like that. I saw the Jr on the headstock and just thought he was a custom maker so who knows. @@TimLerchGuitar
This is a nice instrument and I don’t have to worry about taking it out of the house.
Yes there is that. The days when Joe Pass or a Tony Mottola could take their D'A or D'Aquisto out to play are long gone aren't they but I still like to hear them. Thanks for all the videos. Cheers@@TimLerchGuitar
I offer you D minor 6 over F.
