- The Honourable Mrs. Graham is one of the most famous paintings by Thomas Gainsborough and is especially interesting for its tragic backstory.
It's a full-length portrait of a young woman who is elegantly dressed in the fashion of the time.
The story of the young couple who commissioned the painting takes a dark turn several years later.
Her husband likely didn't look at the portrait for over 5 decades until it was donated to the largest museum in Scotland.
