    Hey there! My name is Ráchelle-Jean. Ever since I was a little kid I have been fascinated with animals, plants, insects, and basically anything to do with the great outdoors. As I grew older I also found my love for traveling. So here on Tales of Odyssey, I want to share my travel tales and guides, while inspiring you with information about conservation and sustainability.

    Cape Point by no means is the tip of Africa. That is, in fact, a stubborn misconception that is hard to eradicate.
    The tip of Africa is at Agulhas, a 231km drive South of Cape Town. East of the 20th Meridien is Indian ocean, west of it is Atlantic. Agulhas intersects with the 20th Meridian. Please help us getting this essential knowledge across. Those in doubt, may want to check with the Hydrographer of the SA Navy in Simonstown. They defend the coastline and know its boundaries, of course

    The tip of Africa is NOT Cape Point ; The tip-off Africa is at Cape Aughulus situated around 200 km east of Cape Point

    Thank you so much for this video. I thought you could only go to the lighthouse or hike. Seeing all the roads to the other beaches, has inspired us to go for the full day and explore.

    Hello Ráchelle-Jean! I have a question. How long do you recommend we spend at Cape Point Nature reserve? Like the minimum time we should spend there to cover enough to make it worth? As we have a tight schedule, so we want to spend enough time there, but dont have the freedom to spend the whole day there. Thank you!! :)

    I have a few questions. 1) was parking free? 2) can I pay for the tram 🚊 at location instead of online?

    • @talesofodyssey
      @talesofodyssey  Před rokem

      Hey yeah, we could just park everywhere for free after paying for the entry into Cape Point. And not sure about the tram!

    Be aware the baboons are wild and dangerous so keep your distance .

    1:16 Something has to change, because that is wrong on so many levels! This park can kiss my butt! I welcome you to come visit USA parks. Much more spectacular, and we charge per vehicle and don't discriminate on basis of nationality. I LOVE South Africa, but this kind of stuff doesn't sit well with me. They basically substituted one form of discrimination for another. I would expect this elsewhere in Africa, but not here.

    • @talesofodyssey
      @talesofodyssey  Před rokem

      This is not something South African. Here in India where I am currently all national park entry fees for foreigners is more than for locals, Sri Lanka same thing as well as many tourist attractions, Costa Rica multiple places I went charged more for foreigners than for locals.
      And this park has some of the uniquest eco-systems both on land as in the water, so would be a good miss if you didn’t visit 😉
