The series stars Maria Mekus and her sister, Leesa Ward, who decide to create a roadmap back to their 'family first' mentality. After years of separation, Mekus and Ward help one another discover the truth about their past, after overcoming the trauma that kept them apart for so many years.
WHO ARE THE SISTERS?
Maria Mekus: The momager to viral sensation, Ayden Mekus, who first got his start on Dhar Mann's online series, about uplifting people around the world to be kind. When the series first starts, we quickly learn how proud Mekus is of her son. But during the near 2 decades it took to raise her son, Mekus fell away from her sister. And her sister's last 15 years haven't been as simple.
Leesa Ward: The former real estate tycoon hit massive roadblocks in her career when she was found guilty of a Ponzi scheme in her hometown of Tracy. A three year investigation alleged Ward of stealing from 34 victims, promising a return on investment she couldn't provide. She has since written a book detailing her experience and what really happened all those years ago. Ward still hasn't found the strength to get over the damage it left. And neither has Mekus, as the two of them rehash old wounds that still linger throughout the series.

When we first started documenting our time together, we never thought this would be the product we presented to the world. In the beginning, we searched for ways to inspire people by setting out on adventures and teaching people at home how to be the 'best version of yourself' - but a reality check sank in pretty quickly (pun intended, haha). Our team and I realized how inspiring it was to use the footage we would initially discard and promote the moments that many wouldn't see behind the scenes. The raw moments. The real moments. The moments that make you stop and say, "is that who I really am? Is that who we are?" During this self-discovery project, where I've evolved in more ways I can explain, we sat down and realized that if we want to inspire people then we need to be as authentic as possible. We need to show everyone our lows and our highs. We need to let people see the real us. And we couldn't be prouder of it. Well, okay let's be honest, there's some moments I would love to erase from history all together, but that's not life now is it? Memories, both good and bad, help shape who we are. The process is about learning from the good, the bad and the ugly. And in 'Sister Rules' you'll get to see it all. My sister and I are as vulnerable as we've ever been before. I invite you to take this journey with me. A journey full of highs and lows, on an adventure where I look to find myself closer to the one person that means everything to me - my sister.
