- Another BNSF grainer for your entertainment making its way through the Yakima River Canyon on April 1, 2018.
This was the best chase of the trip since everything else the day before was overcast. The morning light here was perfect.
All footage taken with a DJI Mavic Pro.

Nice job it really shows the rugged beauty of the Yakima river canyon and the rugged men who engineered and built this railroad.

BNSF Stampede Pass Sub. Long live the former Northern Pacific Railroad who built the line
Nice job, Dan. Great light and some colorful cars at the beginning of the train.

O Drone é um equipamento mágico né; viva a tecnologia do mundo atual! Parabéns pelo vídeo.
Dan, Like the music you used on this video. Check out the group Distant Dreams, close to this music vibe.
So...I have a drone question today...You were really high to get that long "snake" of the train...How high can you go and what happens when you start to get out of range? Another fun video....Thank you!
The drone technology gets better all the time so things like range has improved a lot even in 5 years. I'm actually not sure what current drones are capable of as far as height but years ago they were capable of flying 1600 feet higher than your take off point. I think now that number has doubled! But in the US the legal limit above the ground you're flying over is 400 feet. The actual range is ridiculous these days. You are legally supposed to stay within line of sight but the main drone I fly now I watched a video on here of a guy flying it 5 miles away and then fly back to himself and was at the very end of his battery life when he landed. Actually I think the drone was still flying with 0% battery and landed it. Crazy!!
@ 6:44 Battery don’t fail me now !
Eastbound springtime train out of Seattle, heading toward the agricultural region of central Washington. I imagine if it was imported grain coming from the port, BNSF would send it over their mainline via Cascade Tunnel. Might these be mostly empty hoppers going to pick up harvested products from Yakima and points east?
This one is empty. All Eastbound grain trains are empty and Westbound are loaded coming from the Midwest to the ports on the Columbia River to be exported.
