- The Lian Li O11D has become a bit of a cult hero in the enthusiast scene. It all started in 2018 with the launch of the original O11 Dynamic, which was followed a year later by the O11D XL, soon after the O11D Mini was released then in late 2021 Lian Li gave us an early Christmas present with the Evolution. So you would think that Lian Li has pretty much exhausted all possibilities with the O11D brand, well you would be wrong because now we have the Evolution of the Evolution with a brand new O11 Dynamic EVO XL. This looks like a interesting case. I always appreciate the detailed reviews you give. I also REALLY appreciate popup information that shows when you get to the bottom of the review article instead of popping up in the middle when you are trying to read the page blocking what you are trying to reading. So many other sites block your reading almost immediately with the popup.
Not sure I understand your comment tbh lol
Thank you for doing a proper case review! Not a lot of people show us the options
at this point, I'll just put my GPU outside of the case to show it off lol
On the top bro with the fans facing down 😂
Just leave it in the founders edition box. Bigger than most matx builds
LOL
Haha
Might be a mod for that soon. Like a plaque to show it off on top of case 😂
Really enjoyed this review. Watched it again ! Thanks guys ❤
Cracking review there kg. I loved the analysis part. Answers all my questions. I think I’ll avoid this one but it’s another iteration of a popular case.
Tonks does some nice builds. Loved the stuff he did with you guys too
James These builds are a walk in the park for you. you make some of the most kickass custom builds i have ever seen!! Thats were you shine. !!
Thanks. This is a review of the case though rather than me showing off my system building skills, so I try and test/compare case airflow/cooling using regular systems with an AIO.
This was great. I had been looking for a really in depth breakdown of this case. Most channels just do "look at all these parts. Look at my hardware. Now listen to my dubstep while i show you angles of it finished."
Good review James as always. Loads of detail man ❤
Thanks. 👍
Thank You! The best description!!!!
great in depth review and look! i'm still rocking the og evo. i was interested in the xl but it might be a little too big for me. i find the og evo the perfect size.
So in depth love it James.
Thanks. 👍
Love the removable floor idea thats quite unique.
James is great. Love his no nonsense approach. Like the new studio too !
Thanks. 👍
I believe the grommet mentioned @16:25 can be repositioned along with the corresponding vent bracket to a lower one.
I don't know if you or Lian Li care about my opinion but here it is. If they put a hinged door on the front for easy access, you would have nearly perfect case. Lots of people accidently drop the side panel or set it on the corner, when removing it. Just put 2 hinges on the back corner with magnetic closer and you've got it. Thanks for letting me share.
Ronnie
congratulations very interesting review, good work
Good video, quite informative... like always. Thank you.
But something bothers me:
It's easy to say (or like Lian Li to write it in the manual) that the case supports 420mm radiators (or AIOs).
Well, that's only the combined fan dimension, but what is the actual maximal available space for the radiator, as they vary in length (450-480mm for example) and width ( up to 150mm for example) quite significantly?
Would there be actually enough space for 3x 420mm crossflow radiators including the needed fittings and the (hard-)tubes?
It’s a very capable design for watercooling. I like it.
I'll be getting this case for the removal able motherboard tray, extremely easy cable management, and I got tired of 12 years of trying to build in smaller cases with large hands.
That is a lovely build spec.
My bro has the XL which didn't quit meet my needs but man this one ticks all the box! Can't wait to compare it againt the phanteks NV9 for my next case.
I have the o11 Evo in black, the best case I have had for an easy build and so good looking.
Lian Li is not the cheapest, but the quality is amazing..
That case makes it so easy to do a build you could literally throw the components in and you would get a decent build.
Such a clean build.
This video is soooo well done.
Thanks. 👍
great review 👍
Thanks
case looks amazing, i'm considering getting this for sure but would this case be fine for a 4090/threadripper 64 core non watercooled build? 🤔🙂
Cool build, would've been nice if the gromets were also white to match the rest of the case.
Awesome video.
Brilliant looking design.
Great build. I feel James preferred the last version based on his comments
Love that vertical GPU mount but really hate riser cables.
The flexibility is simply amazing. You sold me the case, mister
Wow that’s stunning looking. I love Lian li
Do you need to purchase a separate riser cable to do the vertical GPU mounting or is one included?
Great Video and Info!!
Why not mount the PSU with fan towards the hot backplate of CPU, might take off few C digits from CPU temps?
Why nullify the role of PSU which always had : to remove partially the hot air out of PC cases. Not to say in this case the HDD mounted in upper box will suffer from heat coming out from CPU backplate.
Please could you write a list here with all components you mounted in this amazing case?
With all product numbers
Thank you
Great video! I'm considering using two NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 GPUs in a horizontal configuration with air cooling. With the motherboard positioned at the top, I believe this setup could optimize airflow and heat dissipation for both GPUs. Any advice or insights on this configuration would be greatly appreciated. can i mount the two gpu,
s and three 120 mm fans at the bottom .thank you
Thanks for using a large power supply! That was helpful for me.
Glad to help!
Did those white front I/O panel cables come with the case ? If not, where would one be able to find them ? Thank you in advance.
Excellent case. There are two things I would like to see in this case taken from 011 Dynamic XL. First HDD tray accessible from outside and front panel I/O mount on top or right side (can't put case on a table). Than it will be perfect for me
This looks like it would be a joy to build a PC into.
How do you connect your monitor to the GPU in this configuration?
I see some cable going out on top so I assume this is HDMI going straight to your monitor?
I’m not sure if I prefer this over the last one. James makes some good point either side
A clean build James but I’m not too keen on the black gpu.
Why is there a corner support? In the pictures it shows glass end to end on the new o11 dynamic evo
It’s on my brothers shortlist but I don’t think it’s an ideal option for the hardware he wants to use. Hey James what’s the best case you recommend for £150 ?
Need to have more LCD readouts in your builds guys.
Will the Seasonic Prime 1600w PSU fit into the Regular Dynmic Evo (non XL)?
Very innovative having the upright GPU. Wonder how long before edge connectors are replaced with connecting cables.
the og evo already did this but the 40 series made some models almost impossible to install...i still managed to get the 4090 strix in there and ran it for like a year now lol the xl will make it way easier tho.
This is just such a flexible case you can configure it in a such a large variety of ways.
I don’t think it’s better than some of the fractal and Phanteks cases out there. Can you be more specific ?
If anyone is running multi-GPU systems, the adjustable motherboard tray will be helpful for clearance near the bottom.
I have a cooler master MASTERAIR MA624 STEALTH... will it fit?
Thank you for the review, the case is indeed nice, but why oh why does it not support SSI EEB motherboards? There looks to be plenty of space for EEB MB tray, and it would probably not even overhang the cable cutouts.
3x420mm radiator support is a huge improvement over the regular o11 XL, but this much cooling really means that you have either 2xCPU+1xGPU or 1xCPU+2xGPU or probably 3xGPU. With very few exceptions those setups imply HEDT or server platforms. Like w790 SAGE - EEB form factor, or WRX90 - also EEB form factor. Multi-CPU boards are almost exclusively EEB as well.
So why make the tray with only ATX standoffs? Any why remove support for dual PSUs? In workstation scenario I'd use local hard drive for OS only, all the data would be stored on some separate external storage anyway. And I don't see much point in four hot-swappable disks in home use either. So pls make one of "hot-swap" bays replaceable by an auxilliary PSU.
Overall, it is a nice case with some clever features, but some drawbacks as well as some questionable design desicions. If it supported EEB-size boards and retained support for two PSUs, I would be already ordering one. For now I guess the search for an ideal case continues.
Greate case but i don't like the fron glass panel 😢😢, better if we have options for a mesh panel
anyone have any thoughts on this vs the nzxt h9 elite???
Nice to see more innovation with the layout of PC builds its been too reliant on the ATX design for too long.
For some reason James accent makes his work just seem that little bit more honest and hard working.
Beautiful assembly, please performers write music on your CZcams!
i like this case but was sold out on Amazon when i go to buy so I had to get the h9 ELITE. It is ok too.
Upright GPU mount is very cool.
Can’t say the build looks wonderful but I guess you work with what you have. Some good analysis James however.
Those fans are nice but the black graphics card ruins it. They are difficult to get right now. I should know I’ve been trying to get one at a decent price all year. 😢
Woah, an O11 case review. lol I had to do a double take and look at the date of this video to make sure I wasn't being bamboozled by YT and shown a video from 5yrs ago.
😂
Think it makes sense having the graphics card mounted vertically next to the motherboard.
How would this compare to h9 flow?
Thanks 😁
Thanks for review. Unfortunately it is too complicated to mount GPU this way. Connections to GPU seem difficult. And to backing up GPU with fans behind seems complex as well becouse of extansion cable.
Yeah I’d agree it’s almost pointless looks good in videos but yeah
Funny how things change only a few years ago we are moving away from light coloured cases to dark and now we’re on our way back again.
Beige you
Mean ?
the gigabyte aero series of hardware would have fit in really nice with the white version of this case 😮
This case looks like it solves all the problems I had with the 011 Dynamic XL and then some. I ended up moving my build to a Phanteks Ecliipse P600S and am fairly happy with it though.
Don't mind me, just here to appreciate your profile icon.
@@Ruuubi UT2004 is my favorite multiplayer FPS of all time. I only went with the UT3 icon as I like red more than blue lol.
What problems did you have ?
I think he means some of the design issues they are well known. But I think this case is too big. Eclipse p600s I was considering but never made the move yet as I wasn’t sure. Hopefully it’s worked out
@@johnerikson2443 There wasn't enough space between the top of the motherboard and the top of the case, so my top rad was kind of mashing my EPS cables down (not exactly a problem, but I'd prefer the heaps of space above it so it wasn't doing that like in this case).
The little bottom fan mounts were cheap and easily broken, whereas in this one it looks like they're constructed better and completely removable to do up outside the case. The XL had a system where some little piece was easy to break, I even knew about it from GN's case review, and it still broke on me, but I can't reemmber exactly why.
The motherboard tray wasn't removable or adjustable, which would have made building much easier.
The hard drive cages were in the upper right, and if it was possible to adjust or remove them, I couldn't figure out how, so they were basically just massively in my way and I felt like I didn't have any space for cable management because of them. That may be still be an issue in this one to be fair.
The HDD cages used a captive thumbscrew, and I accidentally pulled it out all the wayand it was a massive pain and the locking sleds slid over, and it was a massive pain to get it lined back up and put back in without the screw in it. That may also still be an issue with this one for all I know, but at least I know to watch out for that now.
The side fan mounts weren't removable, so all that had to be done inside the case if memory serves.
I don't even think the top rad mount was removable (or if it was, it wasn't as good as the one in my current case).
This case just looks like building in it would be such a breeze as you can take all the fan mounts and motherboard tray out, mount all that stuff up, then slide it into place and screw it in, etc.
Yet the I/O ports are way down... Making you bend down to access it
We need a Leo Custom Water Cooled system in this Case
I am looking to build in this case soon. i have found every thing i need for my build except for a Distribution Plate. Only one i found is EK-Mana G2 PC-O11D EVO DDC D-RGB. which i plan on mounting on the removable fan mount on the back. I am looking for suggestions on a distribution plate other than one i found. what would you recommend?
should of waited till end lol . have not heard anything on the new destro yet but still open for suggestions for others
I would wait for the EK custom distro for this case that is coming soon.
Hello, what is the ideal location for the graphics card to have the best airflow in your opinion please?🙏🏻
In terms of airflow, it does not make a huge amount of difference how you mount the graphics card the default horizontal position is optimal.
@@KitGuruJames Ok thank you so much 🙏🏻
Will this case fit Asus Crosshair X670e Extreme? Always admired Lian Li cases
If it fits 420 mm radiators sandwiched between fans then it can fit the average motherboard
Like the case..looking for case upgrade for my rig..H170i mounted on top with other 140s fans gonna look awesome i hope…
What case you using now ?
@@overclockingdemon7179 currently on 4000D
so dual psu is now impossible?
Plenty of the cases that are like this or feature some of its features (side intake and/or bottom intake) could either easily support 140x3, or could with a vaguely larger version - and where are they? No where.
I will be getting this case, unless someone wants to do a video on multiple cases that do 2+ 3x140 rads. (hint hint)
This might be your best option. People have done 3x360 rad builds in this.
To have a good cooling/silence ratio, how many fans and what size would you recommend using? (I was thinking of putting a 360 aio at the top but then is it better to have 120 or 140 fans)
The case is mostly set up for 140mm fans but not in the rear which is odd.
Optimal for noise would be to use 140mm fans.
@@KitGuruJames Ok thank you very much for your help🙏🏻
Not sure about that floor based fan array there.
Looks decent…I can’t decide between the xl or wait for the RGB 🤦🏽♂️ I would’ve liked to see a full Lian li build with strimmers and all
An rgb version ?
Yeah always rgb 🌈
no the new Lian li 011 Dynamic Evo RGB thats coming out soon@@iamahappybunny7640
How much slack did you have remaining on the 900mm riser and do you think the 600mm riser would reach?
I don't think the 600mm would work.
@@KitGuruJames thanks. guess I'll have to wait for the upright kit and 900mm riser to go on sale because I can't find them anywhere!
Prefer the last version it makes more sense. Are Lian li going to make a new case with new numbers etc ?
No HDD Led? 🤔🤔🤔
I really, really wish they allowed the PSU to be mounted at the very top of the rear chamber. That would have allowed a fairly large pump res combo to be placed under the PSU.
Agreed.
Yeah would be a nice option that.
Can we revisit this with a custom water-cooled build?
Maybe if I get the EK distro plate 😊
Sorry for this dumb question but were you placed the gpu how meny fans can I have there instead of the gpu
3 x 120 or 3 x 140. You can install the graphics card there and fans together.
@@KitGuruJames ty :)
@@KitGuruJames sorry to bother you the fans on the right side r they sopose to be inntake or exsaust?
Wish that CPU cooler had the LCD display.
I really hate the fact that you have to use a 120mm fan in the back in a "all 140mm case" also everyone is waiting for the vision version. Also we have regular evo and vision for 120mm fans, why we need 120mm mounting systems that partially block the air from the 140mm fans?
Good points
Huge amount of stuff you can take apart without touching a screwdriver.
Unusually, you've left the opportunity to build on what you've presented.
Suppress all the silver accents with white/black stickers (over fan hubs) and/or paint. Get anal about the visible cabling, solid white or no lighting. and I think the job would be jobbed. You'd have a spacious black and white aesthetic that said "Alps and room to breathe". It'd be minimalist and de-cluttered.
THEN take your time on planning to use the space better - or not.
I think with a little TLC it'd make a refreshing statement as is. Less as more. 😉 👍👍👍
can graphic card flip and take air from outside?
No, you can't install the bracket the other way around to be able to do that.
Missed a trick not having rgb on that graphics card.
I would not recommend a 4090 in that case in that gpu layout lol, not to mention how sensitive the 12hpwr cable is.
no, cable management would not be ideal for 12vhpwr.
It's weird that you guys decided to leave the corner support in for all of your cinematics, considering the removal of it was definitely one of the main selling points for enthusiast builders with this new generation of dual chamber cases. It's kind of doing Lian Li a disservice to only have like 30 seconds in the entire 37 minute video where you mention the removal of the support and then leave it in afterward lol.
The case doesn't feel very strong at all with the support removed, there is a lot of flex in the top, unlike the Phanteks NV7.
Also the sample we had was pre-production so the front/side glass clips were not secure, these were made from an alternative material in retail units.
Because of this it didn't feel safe moving the case into different positions for the b roll so I didn't want to risk damage. With a system inside it's very heavy and difficult to handle.
@KitGuruJames That makes sense! Thanks for your reply James :)
I have a 420mm AIO, this variant is the only one that can fit it...
Oh come on Lian li after watching this in-depth today after a quick scan earlier. I think they need to come up with a completely new design.
This or a Y70?
Would love to see this with a white gpu and board. 😊
I really hate the fact that you have to use a 120mm fan in the back in a "all 140mm case" also everyone is waiting for the vision version
