It seems that today everyone wishes that they could go back in time to a more innocent and connected way of life. The irony of this is that people coming up in the 80’s and 90’s looked forward to the future. So much so that we didn’t look around and truly appreciate the present that we were enjoying. Cherished memories indeed ❤
You pretty much nailed it.
90's kid here still seeing hope for the future hoping the old mindset returns 😎
I don't wanna go back to 90s. Now we have all these capabilities like internet and smartphones, 30 years ago we were not even close to that.
We did the disconnect to ourselves, by different means (religion, unregulated capitalism and other things). If we did it to ourselves, we can also change it.
@stingerrgb2754 which has turned the world dull and lifeless
I'm making reservations at Dorsia right now.
Vaporwave is saving my sanity and life. I enjoy the fabricated memories it provides. It helps me cope with this dystopian world that took away the certainty of a future.
I couldn't agree more, it's been good for me, but I also find that nostalgia can be addictive and not always a good thing, but for now, it's better than other things
Don't be so melodramatic, a future was never certain

The world is in such a state.
And will continue to decline.
It hurts thinking back to the 90's, but I can't help it.
The location in the picture is the JPMorgan chase tower observation deck in downtown Houston. It’s open to the public, or at least it used to be. It’s a pretty cool view

Dude, I'm 23 y.o, and I used to play a video game, name "who is Oscar Lake?" that was the begining of my obsession with 90's aesthetic and bussines/corporate/bureau aesthetic. I love 90's documentaries, and programmes. This make me feel, not old, just nostalgic, because 90's people used to use fax, biper, credit cards (I mean, we still using them, nevertheless is more common the wireless mobile contact) wood and leather were on top of everything. You had to make a reservation calling the airoport or the restaurant. Newspaper was still important, and watching movies was unique experience, wether were on the cinema theather or on the comfortable of your house (block buster). And the infomercials were all night on T.V. dude, 90's were magic, and I didn't even live it. Everything now is faster, but at the same time lame. 90's had its own spice.
Thanks for mentioning the game, just looked it up and the screenshots look cool, almost Frasurbane esque. I've been looking for games in this vein for a while, check out CARI (Consumer Aesthetics Research Institute) if you're not familar.

breathe in the vapor. Music played from dat incognito tab, although prohibited in workspace, forever will remain a secret between you and the computer. In a moment you'll be heading home. An hour of ride through the warm, sleepy shine of a town. You pass the macdonalds, a motorbike store, subway, gas stations, the new grand bridge. "I made 40$ today. Life is good"
Yeah but also it’s the weekend and it’s only a couple cars parked at the office building it’s around 2pm and your liking down at a somewhat empty city
Vaporwave always kicks the best during warm summer sunsets
Look up Miami Nights 1984’s “Sunset Cruise” and “Elevator of Love” if you like something smooth and awesome to listen to during a warm summer sunset.
This is seriously true !
Vaporwave is how depression feels. But it is oddly calming. Kinda like playing old 1990's or 2000's video games in a way.

I love Corporate Office Vaporwave. Reminds me of the corporate office aesthetic from the 90s, before people started wearing jeans and t shirts to the office, when there was a much bigger expectation of presentation and professionalism, was so much better bc things ran so much more efficiently and people seemed to take more pride in their jobs. Men and women were plain old better looking and took better care of themselves. The products came out better and we in the public got the benefits of better products and service. Much better time to be in the workplace. Also makes me think of those corporate 80s/90s mid-budget movies like Working Girl, FEDS, Other People's Money, The Secret of My Success, Boomerang, etc
"I spent the morning breaking in a new secretary."
I've been listening to this while studying for a licensing exam. Gotta increase my productivity by at least 23% if I'm going to land that downtown job and snatch that corner office.
Seriously though, I love driving by and walking through office buildings constructed in the 80s and 90s. Lots of reflective surfaces, bulky marble-like facades, coloured metals. I've seen a couple office buildings covered floor to roof in unreal-looking brass-coloured windows, straight out of some space age digital dreamworld. There's a lot to appreciate when one slows down to take stock of the details.
The 80s were so slick & selfish. Love it
in the past everything was more difficult, you could not pay the bills from your smartphone, no online shopping, people used to communicate via letter or telephone but no cellphones, and so on, today everything is more convenient people can even work from home using the internet, and yet in the past people seemed to have more time than today
We miss this time period because it was the best time to be alive

For years I'd been trying to figure out what this type of music was called, until I finally found it. I think I like it for a variety of reasons- For one, I grew up in the 90s and this reminds me of the early 90s, when I was a kid and had no real concerns or worries. I can recall walking through a mall with my grandparents and this type of music playing in the department store circa 1993. The thing is though, I think the appeal is more than just those of us who remember these times or our childhoods. For many Americans, this was a wonderful time to be alive. We were on top of the world, we had won the Cold War, the economy was great, sports was amazing with superstars everywhere in seemingly every sport. Social Media and the negatives that come with it hadn't taken hold yet and computers and the internet were still awe-inspiring. The radicalization of American politics hadn't happened yet, everyone was full of hope and 9/11 and the War on Terror hadn't happened yet either. Obviously, it wasn't a great time for everyone, but for many Americans, it was this magical time between the terror of the Cold War and the upcoming wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Recession, etc. Truly a wonderful time to be a kid and I am glad I was able to grow up then.
Thought ... what if the 2030s is like the next level of the 1980s.
This is one of my fav vaporware. I grew up late 80 early 90 this sounds about right❤
Business vaporwave is crazy 😂

Well said
Anyone else here a cog in corporate America that wishes the whole culture was different? It's a shame working for a large company isn't as glitzy as vaporwave has it made it out to be. Ideally at the end of the day we feel fulfilled, feel accomplished doing what we do, our morning commutes are sunny and non-stressful. Instead, we are the complete opposite, and if you're like me, you use vaporwave to cope.
Why anyone chooses corporate urban hellscape America and not humble small town/city rural American is beyond me.

Funny story.... Earlier today, I was on my car phone, on hold, waiting to speak to a customer service representative, regarding the fact that my Diner's Club International charge card had been turned down at the country club I am a member of. I have been on hold now for what seems like eternity. Turns out, that the Universe's Mainframe computer's motherboard has gone bad. Now, I am frozen in time and space listening to some very soothing hold music.
