He was a real life badass . Some people are. He was like the rock & roll stars that of that time that lived hard and made all that great music. Those songs he wrote are some country gold
He doesn't want you to honor him he wants you to honor Jesus Christ in the fall of Jesus that's what Waylon did that's why Waylon quit partying and playing with Willie and all them guys because he's serving Christ and he gave that stuff up that's what he wants you guys to do he doesn't want you to remember his partying ways and his stupid ignorant way is he wants you to remember him following Jesus the way we're supposed to be a long way we're supposed to live that's what we're supposed to remember.
Just came across Waylon Jennings "Farewell Party" song. Typically Waylon Jennings style of singing from this soul, heart and he he put his full emotions into this song. It put a lump in my throat and tears swelled my eyes. Wish Australian radio stations would play play more country music or at least have a dedicated country station, what get's played on Australian radio isn't music, except for a few singers. Today I have listened to a few songs and wish I had the opportunity of seeing at least one live concert. I struggle to understand why all the greatest of the great country singers are taken way too soon. Thank you Waylon Jennings, RIP.
I think of my Grandpa on my Moms side. He’s a country boy. Lifetime of old cars and old barns. He loved ole trucks and farm equipment. He collected everything he could find. He could jack up barns, trailers and homes. Built his own oil change rack out of rocks and wood planks. Wore coveralls to church. Would give them off his back to anyone on need. A good man.
Im 18. I was introduced to Waylon, and all the older country music singers when I was younger, and havent stopped listening since. Just wish I could have went to at least one of his concerts. Your music still lives on Hoss! R.I.P Waylon.
I can play this over and over! Waylon Jennings version that is. This song takes me to the current feeling of a long marriage with husband who is 16 years older than I am. In the past couple of years dementia set in. And in retrospect, slowly started years before that. I know the "in sickness and in health", but we never know what that experience is like. 😢The dementia pretty much ruined the relationship, and I often wonder during the struggle, when I hear Waylon say with passion, "Will you shed a tear at my farewell party? Or will you be glad when I am gone? "
That little "sigh-twist" he adds to the word sea...my lips are as cold as the sea... it gets to me.. lol.. it makes the song his own.......Waylon does this to many of his tunes... listen for it!! Well a true fan knows this of course!! Thank you for all the time and effort you put in making these video's such a pleasure to watch...TC
Waylon can sing any song. His voice is so rich. Thanks for posting. Hard to believe that if he were living now he'd be almost 76. Too bad he died so young.
My sister funeral was yesterday, my heart is broken. She was still young and could stay in this world many many years with me. I keep listening to this song when I'm driving and crying. 💔
Worked with Waylon a few shows back in the 60s. His music was always great but none better than this one. We do this version in our shows today and all love it and him.
My favorite court singer sad all the good ones are leaving and gone..no one can replace the sound of courty today..this was when it was real country..R.I.P Waylon Jennings.. You are mised
My dad introduced me to the songs of Waylon Jennings since i was 10 yrs. old and on that time we where livin in a countryside which almost 2k miles from the capital of Manila, since then till now i am a loyal fan of Waylon Jennings,Long Live the Legacy of Waylon Jennings!!!
There is such sadness with this song. A man asks a woman to "pretend" you love me whilst in the presence of the funeral. And, I know Gene Watson made this song, but good lord, nobody can sing it like Waylon Jennings. I have played this hundreds of time since I found it about 12 years ago. Love it!
Waylon lived through it all especially the time the 3 stars died in a plane crash in Mason City.. RIP Waylon you are up there with them now..Buddy Hilly Richie Valens and the Big Bopper.. all singing together in Heaven..and my Mom and Dad sitting in front row seats
I will have this song played at my funeral, because it hits my heart. 10 years ago he passed on and i still mourn today for him and his music. even til the end he gave his best. R.I.P. Waylon . I hope Jessie puts on a special 10 year special on dvd of pictures and songs of Waylon from a young child to the last picture of him ,and him and her before he died. Also of his, her`s and their children and grand children , since they raised them all. And if all the pictures could be ones never seen befor
All the known versions - from Jimmy Dickens to Gene Watson to Alan Jackson - are great and brilliant real country renditions. But this by Waylon is in a class by itself - a beautiful understated piece of pure genius. What a voice, what a soul!
You were simply the best there will never be another like you and if I would have been at your Farwell party I would have cried so many tears I love you RIP
I did not know Waylon sang this years ago, and of course, I wasn't into Waylon. But the song was hidden on another album. And, I have heard several people sing this. But nobody can sing it like Waylon!
True country is dying out. So sad to see the real artists of the genre when they pass away. God Bless Waylon, don't worry Johnny will be waiting for you.
"Just to Satisfy You" is one of my top 3 Waylon albums. Every song on it is solid and Chet Atkins did an AMAZING job of producing and giving a presence to every instrument on each track. Listen to how well he mixes everything together.
This is my first comment, but I want you to know how many hours of enjoyment your videos have brought me. I love everything Waylon ever did. No one comes close to the power and soul in his voice. Thanks for putting these up. As long as I've got an Internet connection, you've got a loyal listener/viewer. I hadn't heard this one before, but it's no surprise that I like it!
I'm 65 years old and have a crush on Waylon to this day. It's not just the rough hewn looks, but the entire package - music included. Miss you, Waylon, but so glad I can see you here!
Page, I am 67 and feel just like you do. I was honored to meet Waylon in 1986, and he was even better looking in person! The first thing I noticed was how very tall he really was. Jessi was with him, and with her being so petite, Waylon just towered over her :) Before he left, Waylon came over to me and gave me a big hug and kissed my cheek. I told my husband that I was never going to wash my face again - hah!!
Country music has been destroyed by clueless, talentless morons that could never even hold a candle to the talents of Mr Jennings! Rip Waylon and country music...
I love, worship and adore Waylon, he was such a great singer and will never be forgotten. RIP dear Waylon. Thanks for adding these great songs @ teddie448.
Hell, Waylon told his life from start to finish in all his song, There will never be anyone that will come close to as great as he was .
I agree.
He was a real life badass . Some people are. He was like the rock & roll stars that of that time that lived hard and made all that great music. Those songs he wrote are some country gold

Hello Sue how are you doing ?

He was the greatest and will always be. No other can ever come near his shoes. The most fantastic voice and looks.
Wow did not know Waylon recorded this. He sings with so much emotion. RIP Waylon

This song by Waylon is from the heart. He appears to be predicting his own farewell party.
A good man.

A very beautiful...and very sad song...it brings a tear to my eye...
I read somewhere that Waylon has the greatest singing range in his voice of any country singer.
Waylon lived through it all especially the time the 3 stars died in a plane crash in Mason City..

They don't make men like Waylon Jennings anymore and they never will.
Waylon's farewell party just has that feel about it that makes that song come alive although it's about his last farewell.
