  • First time ballerinas likely look a bit clumsy, and it's the exact same for first time PPG pilots. Often when combining all the skills acquired individually at the same time, for the first time, many coordination and timing issues come up. Mad respect to anyone trying out this amazing form of aviation, as it does look intimidating. But, more times than not, it ends up with a bit of dirt on your pants, and a big smile on your face.

    I absolutely agree a lot can be learned not only from the student from filming but others as well. Just like you said as long as everyone realizes it's not to bash or make fun but for a learning opportunity. Thanks for sharing this Kyle. I truly hope to come down this summer and finally do this👍😁

    Hi Kyle'O, I had my first flight, after 3 years on a paramotor, ATOM80 and a ViperXC, it was like id never been away from it. But I can completely relate to the student learning process from over a decade ago. I'm sure we are all smiling watching these, good content.

    Great trouble shooting video, I was actually searching for cause of my last few hard landings and I came to know it was sudden direct flyer action without giving pressure and actually you are asking students to keep pressure before full braking. Really informative. Thanks.

    Great job Kyle ! I really like the fact that you keep the instructions simple and to a minimum . Ive seen some instructors that wanna bark too many orders .....hands up...hands higher ....pull left pull left ....... I think it makes for a better learning experience when you actually get to learn to fly the paramotor instead of learning to just obey someones orders.........I speak from experience.....

    Thanks Kyle! My experience with the windsock got me injured pretty badly. I used to set it up so I could look ahead during takeoff and see the windsock. I hit it a few times in my first couple hundred flights like your student at the 18 minute mark. No big deal…then last February(22) I ran by the windsock and just as I was lifting off the tip line caught the top of the windsock pole and a tiny stainless steel hook on the top of the pole grabbed the tip steering line, collapsed my wing and dumped me on my back. I broke my ankle, my pride and my parajet maverick and tore the crap out of my GIN falcon. After a new wing, maverick and plates and screws in my ankle I’m running back into the sky now but I won’t go anywhere near a windsock pole again! Just seeing your student hit that flagpole brings it all back. I NEVER thought it was a significant hazard. Now I know better. The ground does indeed hurt. Much love!

      I've accounted for this. Thin connections that fail/break very easily if snagged.

    • @cloudpandarism2627
      @cloudpandarism2627 Před 11 měsíci +1

      and thats why my windsock is lightweight carbonfiber which falls over when a mosquito farts on it. but good point. i often see myself putting the windsock right in sight when i launch. maybe a liiiiittle bit further away next time.

    I've never flown the 80s but they sure seem under powered for most guys making launches more challenging and potentially dangerous not getting away from the ground. I know they are a bit lighter but not worth it imo.// This was good content (especially the Capt. Sparrow run).

    • @iKenFlyPPG
      @iKenFlyPPG Před rokem

      I started on a Top 80 overloaded, about 120 kg all up under a Universal 1.1. If there is wind it's a non-issue. If it's nil wind, I say the pilot is in command and must judge risk and take responsibility for what happens. Me being over weight, I'd guess my nil wind success rate is 66-75% at the small LZ, to my credit it's because I don't enjoy eating raw corn. At the airport I fly from, nil wind launch success rate is more like 100% assuming I can forward launch the wing properly haha.

    • @shanesplanetshane3795
      @shanesplanetshane3795 Před rokem +1

      I started on a thor 190, then an 80, now a moster. The 80 was the least intimidating and its the engine that helped me REALLY get the courage to launch properly. Im a mere 125lbs tho, and yes, its anemic in power. If your LZ is large enough, the 80 is a wonderful choice. Priot to the 80, fear was complicating my own learning curve. Also, the weight reduction of an 80, helped. Of course, I moved up to a moster the next season, as I use small LZ'. Ii can't deny that the 80 is so much smoother and easier. If i lived at low altitude and open areas, I'd likely have an 80 still..
