- We took our ratty, untested, and recently revived '64 Dodge 440 that we thrashed on for a week, on an epic roadtrip, spanning 800+ miles from Pennsylvania to Kentucky for Holley's Moparty event. There were many roadside repairs, oil vapor in every county of PA, and even a stop at Summit Racing in Ohio! This was a killer time, and everyone should get out there and drive their old muscle cars the distance like we did, and enjoy cruisin' with your buddies!

Best GD car content there is. Hands down. You and your boys rock. Keep it up Tony!
Wow, thanks! Appreciate it!
Tony is the best!!! RIP Hot Rod Garage!
@@KingKoopa1 Hot Rod Garage was the only reason I kept my subscription to Motor Trend, and then they cancelled it... so I did too.

Just rolled in from hospital. Mom been there for 9 days. Why mention that? Our lives. Mine and yours and theirs, lord knows can be hard for so many reasons. But right this moment I'm sipping some pumpkin spice coffee, talking with my puppy dog while we watch this. Moments. Enjoy and appreciate the moments, people. Thanks for friday video, guys. And all the enthusiasts out there keep the wheels rolling ahead.
Man, I hope your Mom gets better soon! Totally agree, when you have a good moment in this crazy life, soak it up. Thanks for watching, I hope for lots more good moments for you, bud.
Keep your head up brother! Sorry to hear. Hope Tony and the boys bring a little light 🤘🤘
@StayTunedTA you preach in all your videos to enjoy the ride. Th r Destination is the cherry, but the ride is the sundae. With ya in automotive spirit. Hope my post was a positive as intended. Thanks for kind words. And remember everyone - life is short but cool is eternal!!
I hope your mom gets better my friend. I lost mine when I was 24 and it was one of the things that taught me to enjoy the moments. The good ones are life.
@layzboy2545 epic thanks. A moment to spectate a road trip. Hear a lumpy cam. Pup is tail wagging. My coffee is hot. It's a darn good moment. Health and wellness for you and yours
Tony you have brought the roadkill spirit back to CZcams. Full circle. I bet Finnegan and Freiburger approve. Thanks for the content man!!
You bet! Thanks for watching! We are just doing what feels right and having fun!
This felt like a behind the scenes, extended version of a Roadkill ep. Great job, boys.
Hey, thanks so much, really happy with how this one turned out!
this type of action is what made Roadkill a runaway success... no script, just the fuckups ;)
It's why the Drag Week ep is one of the best ones they've ever done. We've seen how many times Mike has gotten it wrong with Blasphemi (park bench hemi rebuild at Roadkill Nights, anyone?) so being able to see them finally drag that thing to victory feels even better.
The Oil Diverter 8000 is a top notch case of what a dude I used to work for called slam dunkatecture.
Yeah that is going in my vocabulary immediately.
42:10 hey I know that car! Was awesome getting to hang out a little bit.
using the curb as a ramp is genius I have done that many times
When I realized we didn’t bring a jack with us I was not thrilled!
Tony, your sense of humor is F'ing awesome! Makes me laugh every video! Plus I love the music you play in your videos! Every time you say "We're Gonna Lose the Shop!" has me cracking up! Keep up the great content dude! #electronics
Thanks man! Having a blast making this stuff!
@@StayTunedTA Seriously dude, I laugh every episode! Thank you! Can't wait to see more of your Chevy with Finnegan helping! Going to be awesome!
Great job. You made it ! FYI (from an old mechanic), It is completely unnecessary to connect the PCV for the engine to run well. (Most cars before 1968 still had NO PCV). Just plug the vacuum source (carb, intake etc.) & let the valve covers vent to the atmosphere. My guess is that you had a stuck or broken ring that pressurized the crankcase, causing exhaust gases to escape the valve covers etc. When you first attempted to plug ALL orifices to the PCV those gases had to escape somewhere & the well worn rear main seal was convenient.
Watching this brings back memories of replacing a rear main in my '56 Ford 272, in my apartment parking lot. It used one of the old "rope" seals, and the replacement kit had the wire puller that allowed you to pull the top half around the crank. What a job!
I watch this with a stereo and a subwoofer, and that Dodge on idle hits a fat low bass note when the camera is behind the exhaust. I don't understand how this channel hasn't blown up to millions of subscribers yet.
Just wait.. Tony's channel is so awesome it will blow up with subscribers.Always great content with a lot of humor and a little education thrown in is a winning deal.Remember when Charlie Sheen went off the deep end? WINNING!!!😂😂😂
Built a mopar 383 big block a couple years ago. Could NOT for the life of me get those rear main cap end seals in! What a TERRIBLE design!! Ended up not even putting them in. Just used the Right Stuff, using a metal rod to pack it inside the recesses until it started to visably squeeze out. Worked like a charm with zero leaks.
CANNOT believe you guys managed to install them flatbacking it in the vehicle!! 😵 I had luxury of doing it on an engine stand and it still sucked ballz.
My hats off to you guys!! Mad respect. Keep up the good work!
Wow, imagine that, changing a main seal in a parking lot with a fully assembled engine and trans. So much for today’s engineering lol. I wish we could back to the old days when sanity and reason was prevalent.
Wow, such, get it done, work ethic! I can't decide if I'm thoroughly enjoying watching someone else do parking lot repairs or if I'm really stressed remembering what it's like to be in that position. Either way you guys are great.
Right on, thanks for watching!
As a PA guy it’s funny to watch y’all drive through areas I recognize. I used to live in Middletown and have driven 322 along the susky hundreds of times love the car and the content keep it coming guys!
I agree as a Carlisle guy seeing him pass through.
I appreciate all your work and taking us along. Let's go!!!
Thanks for watching! You bet!
Hagerty: "Ah, shit, we should have kept this guy around." 200K coming up quick!
I love the old school Idaho fridge magnet on the dash. That just feels right.
FINALLY SOMEONE HAS GREAT MUSIC IN THEIR VIDEOS!!!!🤘🏽 love the content but, also on the edge of my seat waiting for back ground music. Keep it coming! 😎
I love the sound of the engine at idle with that hot cam. It oozes muscularity 👍🏻 (unfortunately you’re oozing a lot of oil too!). Epic road repair R&Ring the rear main oil seal.
That "Real Men of Genius" was hilarious! You guys should use that more.
Your channel is my favorite of all . Real folk problems. You keep it real. Rock on Bruhda.
Awesome. Your are a beast. The car is perfect.
As the owner of a 65 Dodge Coronet 500 I'm enjoying this 64 Polar content.
I bought a 67' Pontiac Catalina four door sedan back in 2014. It ran ok but had a slight miss at higher rpms. Added a Petronix ignition system and it got rid of the miss. Then the front brakes started making terrible noise. Ended up doing a front disc conversion. Went pretty smooth until I went to hook up the lines. Hard lines were rusted and needed replacing. Car sat for four years cause I suck at bending lines. Discovered Inline Tube and bought the pre-bent lines I needed. Car stops on a dime now. Right now I am replacing the blower motor which needs to have the fender removed to do. I have a new aluminium radiator, silicone hoses and belts to do next. Then I need to replace the exhaust then some of the rusted body panels. I salute you for doing this roadtrip fixing the car as you go. I am going to fix all my problems first then roadtrip it.
I learned to drive on a '64 Dodge 440, 4-door, wide 318 with push button tranny. First car I bought was '64 Polara, same configuration. Drove it a year and traded for a "67 Coronet 500, 2-dr with 383 4-bbl. Old Mopars bring back some good memories.
My favourite things to watch used to be Roadkill and Hotrod Garage but as I live in Australia we are no longer able to view these programs, this episode was much like these shows and Stay Tuned is becoming the best content to watch. Thank you Tony and all involved.
Wow, thanks! Appreciate it!
Stay Tuned is taking on problems and knocking them down!
Cmon guys, some of us need to live in PA. You're like the Exxon Valdez rolling through here. Thanks for fixing that rear main seal!
HAha, I live here too! I was doing my best!
Love this old skool Roadkill episodes. Way to go Tony ❤
Thanks! I guess it does feel pretty RK. Was a really fun adventure!
Tony going all The Martian and science-ing stuff!
HellYeah I’m loving this car! Boy would be a bad Lowrider🤘🤘🤘. Beer and a Slice Time. Ready to Stay Tuned🔥🔥🔥
Let’s Go bud!!! I really am stoked on this one!
Weekend is on boys. Tony uploaded. 🤘🤘Rock and roll
Let's go! TGIF!
Everyone who is into cars/motorcycles should experience the "not sure well make it" road trip.
I just wanna tell you guys, I always love the content but absolutely love the soundtrack every episode!!
Best Stay Tuned yet! You guys roadtripping has an OG Roadkill feel!
Love some wire nuts! Installed every car stereo in every vehicle over last 20 years, never any issues. Makes it super easy to swap units or back to stock.
5 mins in and the editor made me laugh then i see and hear "Mikey found a cablebox behind a gas station." Lmfao
Hahaha, this is one of my favorite episodes for sure.
The music reminded me of old 90's early 2000's Props BMX videos.
Keep up the good job guys,
Outback Australia.
Thats probably the dvr that was stolen during the last gas station robbery lol
Never gonna rust under there though!
Mike definitely gives me a 80's Beasty Boys Pennsylvania vibe...
Also "crop dusting like we're growing corn" cracked me up
I remember the rear main dripping in my old 95 5.0. It bugged me, looking back I shouldn't have complained 🤣
Yeah drips! That’s no big deal! A River, that’s when you have to worry! Thanks for watching!
I was working on the electrical system on one of my POS cars, just before watching this show... Man I love hate love hate love hate cars and Foxtrot Mike Lima... love the show!
Full-on RK Style! Diggin' it!!
Had a 68 Dart with a 273 for my first car. By far the best built and reliable ride I’ve ever owned!!!
Man, I love the look of a '68 Dart! LA motors are killer too.
You see now THAT's doing your bit for the environment!!! YEA!
That Challenger reminds me of an old bracket racer at Milan; it was also an E-body with a 'cuda front clip mated to a Challenger back-half and was named "Identity Crisis."
Oh, that sounds wicked cool!
Thanks for the ride along guys..Real deal
You bet! thanks for watching~!
Tony, when you were at summit racing, you were about 10mins away from GEARSTAR!!! should have done a tour of that place...😎👊🏻
The fact u keep putting awesome punk songs for clips dose it for me. Keep it up dude and safe travels
It was great to meet you and thanks for taking the time to take a picture with me.....even if you had to wait in the rain.
A Mopar and a prayer..smooth insanity tony
THATS MY VALIANT!! Awesome!
5 minutes in and I’m getting roadkill vibes this is awesome
Looks like someone modded the heck out of the engine compartment, but didn't bother with the things that really matter. A little money spent and that will be a nice car. Mopars of that era are pretty awesome.
Mikey: "I gotta stop saying fuck so many times for you guys to edit out."
Zimi: "Mikey, this is a family show!"
10 seconds later
Tony: "TAKE THAT YOU OLD FUCK!"
😂😂😂
It was a late night!
Awesome!!! Glad you made it. I love the Dodge 440, my favorite having had one in the past!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right on, thanks for watching! They are killer cars.
@@StayTunedTA I wish I had time to get to the Moparty in my 1972 Satellite Sebring Plus, but work is too busy this time of year (RockAuto)!!!
I've replaced many a rear main and bearings without dropping the crank etc. on everything from a Ford 841 Diesel tractor to a Pontiac GTO 389 and 400 Cummins engines it's truly a religious experience. But, it can be done. On the bearing you can grind down the head of a brass screw and insert in the crank oil hole and turn the crank and it will hit the bearing and spin it right out and grease the new one up and slide it in the same way.
I've found it's easier to put the cap in first, then squirt some rtv over the hole for the side seals, then shove the side seals in. That's how I build my old Y block Fords.
I miss the old 77 1/2 ton 4x4 400 I had...full time 4wd, thing was a goat...
This is a family show, Mikey!!!😂
This guy and his electronics.
awesome video as always and your music choices just make it better. Never let punk die!!!
I know they've been around a while, but we found The Chats about a year ago. They've got some bangers! Australian punk band, some younger fellas. It has a good feel for sure.
My favorites are Pub Feed, Smoko, and The Clap. (No particular order)
Thanks, I just looked them up and will be getting the music@@davidvaughn7778
Thanks for sharing this adventure. Really enjoying these 440 vids. Cheers
Rad stuff as always, thanks for having us along
Under the car in parking lots, visiting parts stores, epic roadkill style content
Thanks! Def feels a bit like an RK adventure.
Wow bro this episode was great. Great feel to the story and great edit.
Thanks for sharing y'all's adventures!!!
5:07 😂😂😂😂 this made me way too happy.
Ty for the ride
So glad i get to watch you on the tubes you were my favorite on motor trend
Happy to be here! Thanks for watching!
Sick changing that rear main seal in the parking lot. 😎
Those headers will never rust!
Let’s go! Just starting the episode now!
Perseverance! Well done.
Tony, that had to have been one of the best road videos I have seen. Great job.
Wow, thanks! Appreciate it!
This is epic. Thanks and kudos for the very good camera work under tough conditions.
As always very entertaining content. The car is awesome! Glad you took us along for the ride.
Always enjoy the channel, but replacing a rear main seal in a hotel car park in the dark? Legend status right there.
The oil diverter scores points as well, very ambitious!
Hey, thanks so much! Appreciate it!
Rad video. Love the road trip!!
Awesome road trip, Tony. Reminds me of the original Roadkill vibe. Congrats, can't wait to see more. Glad you didn't Lose The Shop!
This rig is dope af! Keep on keeping my guy. The best yt channel by a large margin. 🔥🚀
Way to get it sorted and get it there!
5:00 us 7.3 owners laughing at you saying the oil pouring to see a few spots on the ground. Brother we leave puddles 😂😂😂😂😂
Can't wait to watch this
Thanks boys! Have a great weekend :D
Rad. Just rad.
I love driving old junk long distances.
So fun.
This was some serious road-side man work. Nice job!
Awesome road trip brother!!! The breakdowns are half the “fun”! Been there many times. Great content, keep it up!
This is one of the best episodes yet and all the guys are characters! It’s a great show.
Always a laugh you guys work so well together
flashing tape will temporarily (permanently) fix holes in sheetmetal that you dont want...and peels off clean later for welding. thank you Tony for another video, it's been a really hard week. love the show.
You guys are friggin heros. I did this on a 383 a year ago helping a friend and we used a 1 piece seal that you can kinda spiral into place. I bought 2 bolts about an inch longer that the 2 that hold the seal in place and cut the heads off and used them as a locator. that seemed to help. 383 is a great engine.
Good memories were made. Top notch!
Well done, gentlemen! That episode was straight outta old-school Roadkill! Too bad it was rainy this year; but you made it, and fixed shit on the way! That's a good road trip! Thanks again, guys! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
My first car was a 1964 440, 383 with the push button torque flight trans, Sedan though. My dad bought it for me. I loved that car. Don't see too many of them anymore. Wish I still had it, but i sold it to a guy who used it for demo derby because the trans was slipping and I bashed I the right rear wheel well. We didn't have the internet back then, so I didn't know where to get a transmission.
I probably couldn't afford what is worth, but I would love that 'ol girl. Tony you are a lucky man
It’s all part of the experience! 🏁🏁👊🏻
loving the channel lately Tony, the road trips are the best!
Passing along an oil blow by tip: Ran into similar issues in my ‘64 Comet. PCV/catch cans helped a tiny but but the issue was hole placement in the valve cover and NO BAFFLE. Went ahead and installed baffle plates and it drastically reduced the smoke screen. I think the combination of old motor, aftermarket valve covers, roller rockers led to oil just ejecting out of the valve covers. Try a baffle and it could help (part) of your problem.
Dude! I love that Challenger! The 440 is sweet too! I like the music . Keep up the good work.
Great content man! I picked up a 71 Demon a few months ago, shortly after watching the video where you showed yours. My first true muscle car
