    Would be interesting to see how much ammo a team can carry, and how much room it takes up for all that silence. Even though standard mortar rounds take up a bit of space with the protective packaging. Still a cool weapon that I hope to never be on the receiving end of.

    • @Volodymyr_SVD
      @Volodymyr_SVD Před 2 lety +1

      Actually I saw that those secure packaging is used when there is a supply car nearby. In the fields those rounds stored in the bag without any additional protection since they are not 'activated' and dangerous. You may even play basketball with such mine and it won't blow.
      Regarding actual ammo... I saw that for RPG operators carry from 6 to 9 rounds (3 together with launcher and second person up to 6 additional) but those rounds looks smaller and lighter. So we may defiantly say that carrying of 10 rounds on two soldiers is not a problem.

      @@Volodymyr_SVD yea, depends on the size of rounds, 120s will have trailers, 81 and 60, a max will be packed in backpacks, without the tubes, along with carrying cases to be carried over shoulder, supporting infantry would carry an extra round each along with belt ammo for the MG, in the FFL we had the LGI a spring loaded with charge mortar, that's sorta the same as the 2B25, less range though.

      @@jhnshep as a 81mm man I can say with confidence that walking in without a ammo cart is a really bad move. Usually it takes 8 to 12 shots from your first position to be on target. We had a company foot manoeuvre and the captain told us we needed to walk all our gear in. About 10 km so what we carry is what we shoot. This meant the whole company had to carry 2 or 4 rounds to have some effective fire support. (About 4kg per shot). That is offcours on top of mg’s + ammo, At4’s, radio’s, food, water, medical supplies (like stretchers) and all the other good stuff. To ad to that every round needed to be walked in to the mortar pit. So all movements were true one route. In my 6 years of service I have never heard so much upset sgt’s. Yes you can walk in a 81mm with ammo but no you shouldn’t.

      для крупносерийных поставок в войска эта штука не подходит. Ее максимальная дальность в районе 1 км. Для обычного миномёта это очень и очень мало, а для спецслужб и разведки массовое производство не требуется. Несколько сотен таких миномётов вполне удовлетворит текущие нужды. но выстрел с запиранием пороховых газов очень дорогой, к сожалению.

      It's the same with silent guns: How far does a 45 ACP, or 300 Whisper shoot? The latter could shoot quite far, but the bullet drop makes aiming difficult. Plus, it takes much longer for the round to reach the target, which in turn could result in shooting behind the enemy... Plus, it's more sensitive to wind...

      I'm not a weapons designer, but in the mock-up of the weapon used indoors - the shell just seems to rest on the side of the tube - This makes me think the whole thing is pretty unstable and will result in terrible aim. To me this just seems like a WWII era grenade-range-extender.. No real tactical purpose other than just throwing more explosives downrange.. We're not fighting like that anymore in 2021..

    • @bigolmemoryhole6944

      Why isn't it a spigot mortar? The outer tube tube is Al alloy, it's a suppressor. Could even be fiber reinforced polymer if Americanski toys like AR, LOLski. The charge detonating is the noisiest event which is muffled by the tube. The moving piston is noisy & the tube would need some complex pressure seal or as it likely is some burning gas escapes, noise & flash muffled by the tube. Rather the tapered constriction at the end of the round jams & seals the piston. If it smacked into an abrupt ledge that would be noisy and an unreliable seal. Ze Russians know little trick or two about suppressed small weapons such as the PSS SP-4 piston pistol cartridge that works on the same principal.
