    Question, on the moonie, my trip meter stopped working and wont reset. The odometer works fine. Would you know what could cause the problem with the trip meter? Any ideas?

    Great video! I will definitely follow the steps you outlined. Question? Do you know where I can get the stepper motors to repair the gauges? I have the Mooney cluster and the speedometer only works sometimes, the water gauge never works, and the gas gauge always reads between 1/2 and 1/4 tank. I'd like to replace them but have no idea where to buy. Can you help?Thank you in advance.

    I have a Moonie cluster in my 89 K2500. Some times the speedometer will work, some times not. Oil pressure gauge stays all the way to the right all the time and the dash lights don't work. other gauges seem to be fine. Some times the temp gauge will flip between the cold mark all the way to the high mark when the turn signal is on but hasn't done that in a while. When I turn on the head lights the lights for the heater controls go out. I think it's a ground issue. Any ideas?

    Question. My gear indicator quite moving. I mine was clipped on the plastic peice on the steering column, but it is not connected inside the gauge cluster as the one appears to be inside the cluster in this video. Can you tell me where to connect it inside the cluster?

    • @mrnapolean1
      @mrnapolean1  Před 7 lety

      +Bass Wars There is a slit in the plastic on the cluster housing. That is where the gear indicator wire goes thru and it connects to the indicator itself indide the cluster. If this wire is broken the indicator will say Park until the wire is fixed.

    question. i reconstructed the motor and transmission on my truck.and i would like to know, how would i be able to change the odometer.is it manually? or what would be the best

    • @mrnapolean1
      @mrnapolean1  Před 7 lety

      I have never messed or tampered with any odometers in any cluster. But by looking at it it looks like the only way is to advance the odometer manually until it turns back to 0. I may be wrong on this though....

    Have this same cluster in my truck, just sent to the shop thought it was fuel pump/send unit, but all checked fine was informed it was something in guage cluster, now would that be on the fuel guage section that you popped out or would that be on the big circuit board? What are your thoughts?

    • @dustinalldays16

      Do you think contact cleaner might fix the problem? My oil pressure also goes crazy

    • @dustinalldays16

      When my tank is full the guage reads 3/4 and goes down as gas is consumed

    Hey bro im looking for a cluster for my 91 silverado but im having alot of trouble finding jt .. i was wondering if u knew a place where i can buy a 91 needle cluster the one that has the same connector as the later models ..

    • @mrnapolean1
      @mrnapolean1  Před 7 lety

      91 was the last year to have that style connector. 92 -94 had a different plug on them.
      Trying to find the forum thread that had a lot of useful information. will post it here when I find it.

      mateollios 67 those moonies are constantly breaking.

    • @mrnapolean1
      @mrnapolean1  Před 7 lety

      Why would you want to do that? Moonie gauges offer no factory tach (that I know of) and are consistently breaking and sticking.

      I have the 91 Moonie and it works just fine but I hate the look how the hell do i switch it to needle tach clusters?

  • @hououinkyouma5539
    @hououinkyouma5539 Před 7 lety +2

    the million dollar question. How do you fix the odometer on the stupid moonies?

    • @mrnapolean1
      @mrnapolean1  Před 7 lety

      Is it the odometer or the trip? The Trip and Odometer are connected by a spring like connector. If that breaks (and it commonly does) the trip will no longer turn. If the Odometer isnt turning the trip wont be turning either. The little stepper motor would be a good start.

    • @hououinkyouma5539
      @hououinkyouma5539 Před 7 lety

      mrnapolean1 is that a specialty part? Is there a specific motor, or are they all practically the same

    • @hououinkyouma5539
      @hououinkyouma5539 Před 7 lety

      mrnapolean1 some people say they just get jammed, and will work again if cleaned

    • @mrnapolean1
      @mrnapolean1  Před 7 lety

      They look like they would interchange between clusters but I never tired that.

    • @mrnapolean1
      @mrnapolean1  Před 7 lety

      You can also try that.

      The stepper motor may be weak or has gone out.
