My grandmother lives in China. Her tiny apartment has a main area, a kitchen, a bathroom, a washing machine, two bedrooms, one front balcony and one back balcony. Her bathroom has a squat toilet, and only a squat toilet. The water from the kitchen sink and bathroom sink flows down the toilet drain. She also has a little bucket filled with water and a little cup to scoop out water. That apartment is said to have been built at the beginning of the reform-and-opening-up policy, so late 70s or early 80s. At the time, it would have been luxurious to see a two-bedroom home. Now, it's a piece of rotting shit. The woods are badly discolored and peeled. The walls are peeled and torn.
In Ukraine we don't have a tub next to the squat toilet, since most of the time these are found in public restrooms in bus stops or train stations (mostly in old school and university buildings as well). So we kinda have to use tissues 😅
in the Philippines, we don't use squat toilets but we don't use tissue too we wash 'em clean you know what hehe... a pail, dipper, and soap is a must-have.. recently though most toilets have bidets. maybe EA should also put a bidet
Thing is with a squat toilet it would likely not take so much time. Google "Is a squat toilet healthy?" Results look like this: " (Sikirov, 2003). Other studies have shown that adopting a squat position when pooing lowers abdominal pressure, suggesting this position requires less effort for bowel emptying (Tashiro et al, 2020)."
If I'm not on my phone while pooping I concentrate far too much on the pooping part that it disturbes the flow. When I'm focused on smth on my phone my subconscious body reflexes do the thing quick and easy @@QuarantineDreams
In Bangladesh, we don't have that. We have modern plumbing with the squat toilets, like handheld showers. In rural areas, people will use a very special pot which functions like a watering can, to clean ourselves.
Yep in France too (even if it’s rare now), we still have them in south France and in old houses or old apartments. In fact, I think it’s really good and practical for hygiena as a woman.
You have water, and soap this is solution, and I believe your butt and hand clean and hygienist, I use paper toilet for the first time, and my butt itchy, and I don't use paper toilet again
In Morocco, it's rare to find squat toilets, they're only in older houses. My grandma has a squat toilet and a normal one, basically there's a tap, a small bucket and some toilet paper, firstly you fill up the bucket with water then you wash your butt, and then you wipe with toilet paper so it's nice and dry! Then you wash your hands with soap and that's it. It's a lot more hygienic to use water to wash off the basteria, and plus when you squat down it's easier to do your needs
My country doesn't have squat toilets. I wish they did though because they're healthier and more natural. I love the little water basin next to it! I usually use baby wipes but I'm thinking about buying a bidet
I live in place where squat toilet is common and I can assure you the health benefits is not that worthed it. If your health is fine with sitting toilet you don't really need squat toilet. The only thing the west did wrong with their toilet is they use paper instead of water gun/bidet + soap to wipe their butt.
In Ukraine this type of toilets is often you can see in old grandma house in village. And also in some old poor gas stations, or commune houses. And also it is a nightmare in some old schools😂
Those toilets give me so much anxiety in real life. I saw them in poor countries or gas stations. I am happy we have toilets to sit on here in the Netherlands. And unless I build a cheap camping spot for the sims, I will never force them to have these toilets as well. The game is out now for a while and I haven't even used or tried these toilets for the sims 😂 I just can't..
I've always been slightly jealous for squat toilets. The posture is natural. I would use one in a heartbeat. Although, I do like that the western toilets are easier for wheelchair people
I remember seeing this toilet in college (Russia). The ladies' room contains stalls with the toilet itself, a flush switch in the form of a pipe and toilet paper. Sometimes there were moments when there wasn't enough toilet paper - either they didn't have time to put it in yet, or there was none at all. At the same time, the sinks are there. Not very convenient, to be honest. On the other hand, it’s better than the village analogue of the “hole” and the paid one that is in the blue booths. Fortunately, more decent toilets have appeared, especially in the "More" ("Sea") shopping center - it looks like a luxury hotel room in which you would like to live.
Maybe instead of worrying about that they should actually fix the gameplay and bugs in the game. Maybe add actual working activities and expansion packs.
Ah it makes so much sense we have them in some gas stations in Europe and they are always so dirty, so it's because we don't have small tube. Usually they are in a enclosed space with just enough room for them and nothing more so yeah I'll let you imagine
Yes, I thought that they should have had Japanese or Asian style deep soaking tubs in the tiny living pack, and I would like a toilet with a sink. And bring back the all-in-one bathroom from Sims 3. I also want urinals now that we have squat toilets.
Why is the squat toilets in the bathroom? In Turkey, they are designed as a separate room, just for squat toilet and a tiny sink. You enter there with a separate pair of slippers, it is not hygienic for barefoot. And there is a normal bathroom where you can shower and also have a toilet. You can't shower in a room with a squat toilet. It's not hygienic
Here to say the same thing. We have these type of toilets in a seperate tiny room with a small tap on the side, and we have the actual bathroom with a normal toilet.
In Korea, there were many squat toilets in public places and there was always only toilet paper. Sometimes there was no toilet paper, so many people carried tissues with them. Now most toilets have been converted to Western style and toilet paper is provided. Some have bidets, but most people only enjoy the warmth of the heated bidet seat in the winter.
Pipes. For squat toilets in Malaysia, there are pipes or bidets that have extension from the wall. Squat toilets tended to be separated from the shower room or the bathroom.
Other thing i was disappointed is there's no water dispenser--the top load or the front load (haha yes like washing machine, ik) electric one and the ceramic one without any hot or cold feature, and also water gallons and the one w the water pump for gallons where you just insert the pump then press the button automatically or manually pressing it, siapa jg yg mau minum air keran di sini😅
I'm 54 yrs old and I've only seen a squat toilet in my country once in my life, it was a public bathroom. So this is very good to know and I appreciate the information, thank you!
Omg love this so much! Back in the early days, Malaysia have these water tanks to store water for showers. Some are built next to the squat toilet or a separate shower area from the toilet. Ah memories.
In India 🇮🇳 we have a water faucet next to the toilet with a mini bucket & a mug. Nowadays people have modernised it and they have installed water jet sprays for convenience.
In the Philippines you don't really see a lot of squat toilets but you still have the big tub of water next to the toilet We use bidets a lot too in some households
When I visited Japan in 2007 there were quite a few squat toilets, but my mother seemed used to them. So I asked and apparently they were kind of common in Norway until the 70s..!
In Malaysia, most of our traditional houses separate the toilet from the bathroom (place of bath). The toilet has its own room or place, whether it’s outside or inside the house. Well, if the house is small in size, then we do the same as our neighbouring countries too. I hope EA will focus a little bit more on SEA countries.
Squat toilets in ID: - not only available in houses, you can find it in public bathrooms/toilets, convenient stores, gas stations, restaurants, even some big city malls provide squat toilets and a bidet. - squat toilets in houses varies in layout and appliances. Some houses has the same layout and using the same concrete tubs like this. Some put it on an elevated surface and some put it on the same level as the bathroom floor, some use buckets/basins/jugs whatever it is to store the water, some use dipper, some use bidets, some use water hose, some even use hand showers. - ID society used to clean those parts with soap, so it's common to see handsoaps/liquid soaps nearby - we dry using tissues or towels. But tissue is rare to find nearby, either because we ran out of it or some toilets just doesnt provide. We don't put it in bathrooms cs it'll get wet somehow. Just- bring your own tissues 😅
What they also should add is that Sims can eat and sleep on the floor together. In Thailand people have their meals often on the floor at their homes. Eating on a table is more a restaurant thing. And what i also miss is the sound of the Gecko and mosquito net

It's no different than what they already do now! 😂 Like with Horse Ranch. They could've included horses in Cottage Living. The "gameplay" in Horse Ranch is more about taking care of the ranch and the horses (like taking care of the farm and the animals in Cottage Living)
They were definitely selling the idea that Horse Ranch was about training your horses and entering them into competitions. Yet, the training consists mostly of just riding your horse around the barrels, going in circles, or riding your horse for hours through the beautiful, remote landscape. After HOURS and DAYS of dedication to level up your horse's skills, it was all worth it. Because it's time for the riding competition! BRILLIANT gameplay- you and your horse will compete with townies and their horses! Heading to the Equestrian Center, SO much exciteme- what-the-hell. My sim and horse went inside, and I can't watch the competition. I spent HOURS riding my horse to train it for THIS and I can't compete or even see SHIT!
Jesus Christ yall are miserable.🙄
@@jessicalynn6285Thats why I pirate the packs theyre doing way too fucking much just to squeeze our money, some of the packs should be in the base game cause what the fuck
putting gayung in the centre of the tub is such a nice detail.
In japan the toilets are always separate from the bathroom and sink. The sink as well is not in the bathing room
I noticed that when I was staying with my host parents for a week over there. It really surprised me when I had to go through the laundry room to get to the shower and bath tub that was in a separate room
In Brazil pretty much all bathrooms (in homes) have a little hose with a shower head that attaches to the side of the toilet so you can clean yourself after you do your business. Wish they had this option in the game too!

they NEED to add handheld bidets
lucu bgt plisss wkwkwkw 😂😂😂 sekalian mandinya pake gayung kak
EA nya belum nyediain
Great! Finally someone who make n explain what true SEA toilet is. Also in Malaysia idk other country, we put squat toilet in slightly higher platform than the rest of the bathroom
it's also like that in indonesia actually. but in some public toilets they look like the one in this video and without tub but bidet.
@@raisha99 yeah, same here, even slightly modern house got bidet. going to public toilet where u need to "cebuk" the water from the tub is hella annoying 😂
@@jyunsouya4798i feel you. Idk how imma finish my business if I have to "mencebok" my ass directly from the tub with the "gayung"?! Forever grateful foe bidets😭😭
Ooh, the use of carpet was a good idea ❤
Lmao as Indonesian this is all correct. Not all toilets tho, but this is pretty common at public restroom and some houses.
I used to see squat toilets when I was a kid, but I never knew how to use them properly, they gave me really hard times 😂
Even with sitting toilet, we use spray thingy to clean. The tissue are just for drying.
Water is everything.
Man a squat toilet would be horrible for me as it takes me a while so I’d squatting for like 30 minutes to an hour. 😂
Thing is with a squat toilet it would likely not take so much time. Google "Is a squat toilet healthy?" Results look like this: " (Sikirov, 2003). Other studies have shown that adopting a squat position when pooing lowers abdominal pressure, suggesting this position
requires less effort for bowel emptying (Tashiro et al, 2020)."
@@pirlie Perhaps but I take quite a while. I have heard that before though.
Honestly, it allows for better "flow" so you'd probably go faster. Also get off your phone while you're pooping.
If I'm not on my phone while pooping I concentrate far too much on the pooping part that it disturbes the flow. When I'm focused on smth on my phone my subconscious body reflexes do the thing quick and easy @@QuarantineDreams
I love that you made this video, I agree with you EA should make it a little more realistic to the way it would be in real life lol
In Bangladesh, we don't have that. We have modern plumbing with the squat toilets, like handheld showers. In rural areas, people will use a very special pot which functions like a watering can, to clean ourselves.
In Italy we call it Bidet
Yep in France too (even if it’s rare now), we still have them in south France and in old houses or old apartments. In fact, I think it’s really good and practical for hygiena as a woman.
Oooooooh.
Ok yeah that begins to make sense. Thank you.
I cannot believe here in my country we don’t use soap and water but only tissue paper. It makes so much sense😣!
You have water, and soap this is solution, and I believe your butt and hand clean and hygienist, I use paper toilet for the first time, and my butt itchy, and I don't use paper toilet again
in latvia when i was a kid a few places had squat toilets (although they were just holes in the ground lol). i’m not sure if there are still any
They're pretty rare in Greece, too.
@@zoebaggins90 it’s interesting to me that some countries still use them. i didn’t know it was quite common in some.
Now im waiting for cracked tiles and black moles on the ceiling to the walls for the complete Indonesia bathroom look /j
So in Vietnam, we used to use squat toilets, but now, 90% of them were replaced by the British toilets
Wait so people don't wipe?
With clean water precisely
@@Firman_N.Ahmadi_16 thats why our butts smell so good with clean water and soap xD
Ok but...what do you scrub your butt with?
Usually, if in France you have those kind of public toilets, you do EVERYTHING to not use them 😂
In nepal, Squat toilets in front of tap.A bucket & jug under the tap. It is sideways
How the heck do y'all avoid getting pee or poop on your clothes with a squat toilet?!
All you need is "skill"
People do it half-naked, sometimes fully naked for good measure. That's why we usually timed it with bath time.
Ah it makes so much sense we have them in some gas stations in Europe and they are always so dirty, so it's because we don't have small tube. Usually they are in a enclosed space with just enough room for them and nothing more so yeah I'll let you imagine
this is very helpful. i’ve never seen a squat toilet in person
pantesan ngerasa ada yg kurang gitu pas liat toilet jongkok, ternyata bak+gayung yg biasa di deket toilet jongkok wkwk
omg that looks so pretty!!
I love this video!!! I’m so down for video essay esc formats from you
EA firstly should make a mop for it's dust. Because in case of absent electricity normal people use brooms or mops...or both...to clean it.
The mop and broom used to clean this will be available in the next game pack.
🤦♀️😂
In Korea, there were many squat toilets in public places and there was always only toilet paper. Sometimes there was no toilet paper, so many people carried tissues with them. Now most toilets have been converted to Western style and toilet paper is provided. Some have bidets, but most people only enjoy the warmth of the heated bidet seat in the winter.
Pipes. For squat toilets in Malaysia, there are pipes or bidets that have extension from the wall. Squat toilets tended to be separated from the shower room or the bathroom.
In my country instead of toilet paper because we didn’t have enough money for it, we would use newspaper rip it up and use it
May i know which country you're in... and..... do you still use water to clean your arse?
Indonesia uses tissue rolls. Mostly unavailable in a lot of public toilets (sitting or squat).
Other thing i was disappointed is there's no water dispenser--the top load or the front load (haha yes like washing machine, ik) electric one and the ceramic one without any hot or cold feature, and also water gallons and the one w the water pump for gallons where you just insert the pump then press the button automatically or manually pressing it, siapa jg yg mau minum air keran di sini😅
unfortunately sims 4 will never be that detailed
@@katfoley8626 yes i agree with you, the dev surely took shortcuts for the gameplay 😔
I'm 54 yrs old and I've only seen a squat toilet in my country once in my life, it was a public bathroom. So this is very good to know and I appreciate the information, thank you!
the hole in squad toilet is too small, our "turd" is not that small. LoL
wait ppl poop in them ?! i thought they were only for peeing .... ew
Omg love this so much! Back in the early days, Malaysia have these water tanks to store water for showers. Some are built next to the squat toilet or a separate shower area from the toilet. Ah memories.
I had no clue but this is so cool!
We don't use squat toilets in Sweden
"In Indonesia..." Lol it's common everywhere in Southeast Asia 😂😂😂
"Several Asian countries such as Indonesia"
In Malasyia we do have squat toliet, but instead of a built in water bath we just have a bucket LOL!
In Malaysia it was often a hose with a little sprayer, very convenient in small spaces like most public toilets are
In Japan all the squat toilets disappeared pretty much.
Even if there are some I have never seen anyone use it 😂
AROUNDTHESIMS just released South-East Asian bathroom accessories including the wash basin if you're interested :)
In India 🇮🇳 we have a water faucet next to the toilet with a mini bucket & a mug. Nowadays people have modernised it and they have installed water jet sprays for convenience.
Im a Indonesian im VERY happy that someone made a indonesian bathroom
Well that just sounds purely disgusting lmfao i dont wanna wash shit off of myself with my hands
In germany we shit in the garden
I never heard people talking about insightful squat toilet before.
In the Philippines you don't really see a lot of squat toilets but you still have the big tub of water next to the toilet
We use bidets a lot too in some households
Yes! I grew up in Indonesia and was thinking about this the other day. They also need a bidet.
Omg this gives me nostalgia vibes from my time living in Indonesia.❤❤❤
In Italy no one has squat toilets in their house, but in public places the probability of finding them is 80%, like in a school.
When I visited Japan in 2007 there were quite a few squat toilets, but my mother seemed used to them. So I asked and apparently they were kind of common in Norway until the 70s..!
In Italy we also have squat toilets but you only ever see them in public restrooms (especially school restrooms), so they are always dirty.
Squat toilets in ID:
- not only available in houses, you can find it in public bathrooms/toilets, convenient stores, gas stations, restaurants, even some big city malls provide squat toilets and a bidet.
- ID society used to clean those parts with soap, so it's common to see handsoaps/liquid soaps nearby
- we dry using tissues or towels. But tissue is rare to find nearby, either because we ran out of it or some toilets just doesnt provide. We don't put it in bathrooms cs it'll get wet somehow. Just- bring your own tissues 😅
In Korea where there are still squat toilets, there’s nothing. You’re expected to carry your own wipes.
In Russia it’s called “Turkish toilets” and we sometimes have it in public places because it’s hygienic
In my country they're only in football stadiums, and I grew up thinking they were just being cheap by not installing regular toilets
What they also should add is that Sims can eat and sleep on the floor together. In Thailand people have their meals often on the floor at their homes. Eating on a table is more a restaurant thing. And what i also miss is the sound of the Gecko and mosquito net
soft and water is better than tissue
