I studied at Southampton from 1979-1982 (yes, that long ago!) and was in Connaught Hall my first 2 years. Your video certainly brings back some memories!

@@Mehmet-kv2vd Oh yeah, the website prices are wrong, when you click apply it charges you extra and shows you a couple different rooms that aren’t on the website
Can’t wait to start in September! Also a psychology student but I decided to go with private accommodation because I found it to be better location wise for work and a bit easier on the finances too since where I will be working is a 5 minute walk and I can attempt to cycle most days if we have in person learning xD

Could you show me the flat having 2 rooms of city gateway of southampton uni?
Thank you for your beneficial video. Do you think ensuite room in Citygateway or ensuite room in Glen Eyre is more suitable for postgraduate students? Actually i would like to have quiet room but social environment at the same time. I suspect that Glen Eyre will be noisier than City Gateway but more social and have common study room and computer room which are City Gateway doesn’t have.
I think Glen Eyre would be better! I know city gateway is specifically for postgrads but it’s more expensive and worse in terms of location. You could suggest a quiet flat within Glen so you then get some quiet but within a more social environment
would you say mayflower is quite social??
I want to stay at Wessex lane or glen eyre but my course is at WSA lol so I think the commute would be too long:(
mayflower is definitely very social but more in the clubbing/drinking way if that makes sense!

hmm, there was definitely a lot of international students in wessex but as i wasn't in the other two im not really sure sorry!

What do they feed you when you are part-catered? Do you choose or how does it work exactly? Is there halal food?
I'm not sure but I assume there is a menu with 2 or 3 options and I again assume there would be halal food but I am not certain!
hiii! i've also applied to southampton for psychology but my predicted ib points are 31 and the requirement is 34... as someone on the course, do you think it's still possible that i'll get an offer? also, if i don't get one- is it likely for there to be psychology places available through clearing? :))
definitely a chance of an offer! they do reduced offers all the time and some people with lower predictions get offers too! in terms of clearing i dont think there are many places but they sometimes still acccept you even if you dont meet the offer
Hii, thankss for this video!!! I'll study English BA and I think I'm gonna be at the Avenue campus and I am trying to decide whether to apply for Glen or Wessex. I've read that they're both pretty social but I don't know which one is closer to bars and clubs. Do you have any recommendation?
Glen will be closer to Avenue campus and I think they’re probably the same distance from bars etc I think! Wessex is maybe slightly closer

I'm thinking about this university but live about 2 hours away so I would have to get closer accommodation but my family is not the wealthiest. What would you recommend in my situation.
if your family aren't the wealthiest you should get a good student loan, this should then cover accommodation. but if you still want cheap accommodation, shared bathrooms are perfectly fine (shared and self catered would be the cheapest type)
Look at green wood court they have rooms as cheap as 78 pounds a week
hello there, thanks for the tips. I have some doubts regarding the payment in Wessex lane. Did you make payment of rent altogether at the beginning or did you pay monthly? Is it possible to book your spot online?, because I am planning to apply to Southampton University for the September intake next year.
hi so you pay termly, so it alligns with the student loan coming in. so mine came out october, january and april ish time. i applied online and then they cpnfirm your place after results day has happened but you can;t normally apply unil feb/march time

I want to know if there are any restrictions that may affect the part time jobs.
@@rohithkrishnan.r4678 So you will pay for a full contract of however many weeks (36,38,40,45) etc and then you can come and go as you please. So you can go home for weekends and don’t have to be in halls. Hope that answers the question

I’m a bit confused about why chamberlain is full of the rich kids when it’s is similarly priced to Wessex. £15 a week difference. (I’m not in chamberlain but was considering it, don’t want to be surrounded by posh people tho lol)
chamberlain is just the most expensive accommodation and ends up with people there who have their parents paying for things and are rich rich. some people are max loan students so it depends it’s just generally quite posh
but also over the weeks that £15 adds up to quite a lot more a year

im sorry im not sure what you mean. do you mean private accommodation or a flat you can share with a friend? in shared you would be with other students too or do you just want to be with your one friend?

@@ZaidKhan-uc9jh so basically there are quite a few flats for two people in southampton, some closer to the city and some closer to the university. these are for around £800-£1000 per month which is not including bills etc. i am not sure when you would need to start sorting this out though. websites like zoopla and right move are good for looking for flats or houses for the two of you.

I personally didn’t mine mixed gender! I think it’s good to have a mix! And my quiet flat was definitely TOO quiet! I would have preferred a normal flat and just told people to not be loud!

Do you know anything about connaught halls at all? Just accepted an offer there. They are the old buildings near wessex. You probably know that.
yep! are you going to be catered then if you're in connaught? the buildings are nice and it's quite social just maybe not so much as wessex as it's not quite as large!
Are u allowed to bring your own TV in your own room?
yes but if you want to use it as a tv you might need to pay for a tv license (not sure on this bit through(

honestly they are all quite social! i would say mayflower then wessex then glen probably!
