These 4 dances are the one thing that will wake me up when I have to get a really early start in the office, like when it's still dark outside. These dances and the blackbirds in the yard that begin to sing crazily at the crack of dawn. I own a CD by someone else with all of Cervantes' dances, but this rendition makes me want to throw the CD in the trash and go visit the pianist and shake him gently to wake him up, too. Beatriz Boizan makes these tunes every bit as lively as the blackbirds in my yard, arguably more. The Encantadora positively comes to life, you can actually feel the spell she casts rumbling in the susurrus of the bass notes. So they flutter through this office together, birds and dances ever so lovely! Muchas gracias for helping me get my days started ;-)

Only a consumate musical genius can depict in his/her musical notes and harmonies his interior life and the society and times he lived in. Ignacio Cervantes is one of them. He captured the Cuban soul of the times in the magnificence and superior refinement of his most beautiful music.

Extraordinary musicianship: exquisite colours, admirable phrasing, perfect pedaling, rhythmically smooth and gentle…I play the piano a bit and I must say, what a master class this is!...Very Horowitz-like! An interpretation of the highest level! 5 out of 5 stars

Lovely! You can't help but notice the rhythmic similarities to ragtime, particularly in the first two pieces. Cervantes did spend time in the states in the 1870's. Scott Joplin was surely influenced by the danza in his "Solace"........and Cervantes was born almost 20 years before Joplin. A wonderful performance!

A beautiful pearl, indeed! I was looking for recordings of Cervantes' Danzas and I just discovered this pianist. I couldn't believe the quality. I watched/heard also other videos. She seems to be a promising talent, kind of the Cecilia Bartoli of Spanish & Latin American Piano music. Am so excited to see how her career develops.

Que manera de tocar, toca cada tecla como si tocara una pompa de jabón , y al tocarla tan delicadamente...una chispa de diminutas formas de colores se convierten en esa música que hace estremecer el alma.
