    All the worst choices made in my life were while drinking. Blackouts, mood swings, hooking up with someone I would not if sober. Lowering my standards yikes. Sober is smart keep your wits about you. Wish I had figured this out at a younger age.

    I feel a lot of this. I stopped drinking a year ago and my whole social life has flipped. Just started dating again and I haven't had much experience but this is good to keep in mind. It's also nice to know there are others who don't drink out there because it feels so far off

    While love drinking - it's been great to not. I just got over it. Not drinking elevates everything in my life and I find the trade-off for drunk, even fun (for me) experiences is having a deep, even spiritual connection with people I meet and date. Great topic!! This topic should be talked about more. Thanks, Alex!

    Excellent! 3,5 weeks in. Have done 3 months 2 different times in the last 3 years and 1 month about 3 times but I after failing to moderate after each break and falling back into the same old patterns of alcohol abuse, regret and major discomfort I have finally decided to do a full year. This is premature to say after 3,5 weeks, but it is the goal. Thanks for making the effort to put your great insights together so articulately. You are helping more people than you know.

    Choosing to stop definitely weeds out the meaningless relationships in your life, such as the friends you thought you liked but only had drinking in common with. It also helps you feel healthier and stop wasting time and money on pointless things.

I'm dating someone else who doesn't drink and we have a normal relationship. My health it's really good. I do feel smarter in taking better decisions . Not drinking alcohol makes you a better man . A better brother . A better father . A better son. I forgot to say my ex use to drink a lot . She kept drinking I stop . Now I only date girls who don't drink .

    I started the 75 hard challenge and I didn’t drink often, only maybe 1-2 times a week or twice a week, i listened to the summary of how to stop drinking. Im naturally an extrovert and the girl on the dance floor without alcohol. But, I recently was invited at a networking event, and I did engage but I don’t think I want to be in environments with alcohol
    I imagine dating could be more challenge, it’s all good

    I'm 100% person who hate alcohol and don't drink/eat but I'm free to other ppl (same as you). It's so hard not in dating but in some gathering (parties, etc..). Ppl don't understand it at all and force me to drink and I always disguised by that person and leaving the gathering. :/

    • @alexorlandocross
      @alexorlandocross  Před 3 lety +2

      I can definitely relate. Drinking always feels like an expectation. It gets easier to say no the more you do it though

    • @orihusky7099
      @orihusky7099 Před 3 lety +2

      @@alexorlandocross yea. I always say no. I wanted to learn say No to other ppl and it helped me. :D anyways I always get sad when I see my closest (family or friends) tries to force me or says: "he will start to drink. It's only temporary"... I feel like why I always bother to gather with them when they don't respect me and my choice.

      Gosh, that's so relatable! I'm really feeling it in the same way. My solution was to set personal boundaries so exclude any mention of any drugs (alcohol, tabacco includingly). If the person crosses the line second time, I avoid to talk with him/her without nesessity.

    How about the positives you get to live much longer while others will get sick and die from smoking and alcohol related issues.

    • @alexorlandocross
      @alexorlandocross  Před 3 lety

      100 percent although that wasn’t the route I was going down in this video lol

    • @bigball6392
      @bigball6392 Před 2 lety

      Not nesessarily, but the fact it contributes into your life expectancy for sure, so it is always better not to use drugs at all (alcohol and tabacco are drugs too)

    This was actually a really interesting video to watch. I have never drunk alcohol for religious reasons, so it was extremely interesting to hear from someone who isn't drinking purely for personal, non detox related purposes. Much of Western social culture is built around drinking, so it's always presented people like me with a bit of a dilemma. Keep up the good work Alex, love your videos.

    It’s always interesting to hear why ppl drink, let alone get shyt faced 🥴🤢🤮 ! Too often it’s an issue or two related to their past and/or “life”that makes them want to drink & not deal with things !
    Luckily, I rarely desire alcohol & have only had one incident where I got wasted !
