Everybody inside that shop was unbelievably brave. Breaking up the attackers to save a total stranger? Confronting the knife wielding homicidal stranger with a chair? Leaping through the violence to try to get to the child behind the counter? Trying to block the door with your own body? How does this family get around without a forklift to help carry their gigantic cajones? They really said "not in our cafe".

There are 7 Categories of what the NYPD classifies as serious crimes. Cumulatively, those numbers are currently down *slightly.* However, 3 of those categories are UP, one of which is Felonious Assault.
Year to date, Felonious Assault is up 5.5%. Compared to 2 years ago, it’s up 13.5%, compared to 14 years ago, it’s up 71.1%. And compared to 31 years ago it’s down -27.6%.
