it was because these actresses, who played Padma and Parvati were totally different, and they didn't look like twins, so if they were in seperate houses noone will believe, that they are twins. At least, that's what i heard

Struggles of being a Ravenclaw:
. Merch is lacking.
. Any merch is more expensive because less is sold.
. Blue and bronze were changed to blue and silver and that makes buying true merch INCREDIBLY difficult.

I actually think this is similar to the slytherin situation. Ravenclaw seems to be the most representative in the fandom, despite being poorly representative in the books, just like slytherin is bashed in the books, but not NEARLY as much in the fandom.

When people ask why the ravenclaw mascot is not a raven I always reply with why Gryffindor is not a griffin.

@Pratyush Mitraour mascot is the eagle because it soars higher than other creatures and reach places others can't. This is a metaphor for our intelligence. Its a more complex reason than "because lions are brave" because ravenclaw's aren't simpletons like gryffindors.

But creativity and curiosity are both aspects of intelligence, and intelligent is basically another word for smart, so, Ravenclaw is the smart house

These traits personify me to a T. That's why I feel alone among most people don't get me even though I can see right through them. Its also frustrating that I also have PTSD and that makes me spaced out like Luna. I am studying to become a Psychologist and I am an artist. So I guess I have lots of Ravenclaw traits. Dunno why Pottermore lists me as a Griffindor. 🤷♀️

We need a high budget Netflix Founders show with Rowena as the lead. She has by far the most interesting story arc and was the one who came up with the idea of building Hogwarts. It has some great story potential- a medieval setting, old magic, friendship, betrayal, prejudice, family drama and very old folklore and the possibility of utilizing dragons, mermaids, unicorns, etc.
Some of my thoughs:
It would be a two part story, so two seasons with maybe 8 episodes per season at most. The first half would follow their youth, establish their friendship and have them persevere through muggle persecution culminating with the opening of Europe's first wizarding school and maybe throw in some drama like Gryffindor falling in love with a muggle woman. The second half would follow the decline in their relationship and have Slytherin take over the role of the villain while the other three founders defeat him in a spectacular duel. There could also be an interesting subplot with Helena and the Bloody Baron and their gruesome demise. The story would end on a bittersweet moment with the founders defeating and exiling Slytherin and Rowena dying at the end from a broken heart, while Godric and Helga remain at the school.
I actually wrote a fanfiction about the founders. Unfortunately it's in my native language, hungarian, but if I have the time, i'll translate it, and then it's going on wattpad.

Sounds interesting except for Rowena “dying of a broken heart,” this is cliche and also not really medically a thing that happens, plus it’s sexist in that it’s essentially always applied to women.
If I were a Ravenclaw I would always be doing experiments on how to get into the common room faster by figuring out If joke answers would also work in response to the riddles, as long as they functionally worked. Mainly because I hate being locked out and just wanna get to things quickly.
I’d be the Ravenclaw who’d save every future member of Ravenclaw House an additional five-ten minutes a day by discovering every riddle can be answered with ‘your mom’. It would be my signature contribution.

I understand that Luna, Padma or Parvati (Don't ask me which), and Cho Chang are in Ravenclaw, but think about it. Is there anyone else close to Hermione, Ron, and Harry's age that we know is in Ravenclaw besides them and Penelope Clearwater. In Slytherin we have Draco, Crabe, Goyle, Pansy, Theodore, Blaine, Millicent, and so on. In Hufflepuff we have Cedric (R.I.P), Susan Bones, Zacharias Smith, Justin Finch-Fletchty, Ernie Macmillan, Hannah Abbot, and more!!! AND I'm not even gonna talk about Gryffindor!!!! So all you Ravenclaws out there, show that we exist!!! I moved this from the Gryffindor video. Also thank you guys SO MUCH for over 200 likes!!

Close to their age being a year or two (or three?) off, off the top of my head I can think of Roger Davies (Fleur's date at the ball), Terry Boot and Michael Corner (members of the DA and one of them dated Ginny for a few weeks or something), and of course Marietta Edgecomb (who in the book is the one who betrays the DA to Umbridge and suffers from Hermione's jinx as a result). And I'm a proud Ravenclaw myself, so I tend to notice them when they're mentioned. :)

People got used to say that Hufflepuffs are all extra in the movies but, considering the characters, Ravenclaw that actually are.
The books don't represent as much Ravenclaws as Griffs/Huffs/Slyt's, and the movies are worse in that point.
I wish we we're more included.
Another point: People generally think that ravenclaws are just smart people and intense readers, or something like that. Actually, acording to pottermore it self, Ravenclaws are different, creative, shrewd, insightful.
Intelligence is not just about ordinary studies, it also means being very clever about something specific. To be a Ravenclaw means to stand out from the crowd.

The only reason I don't "want" to be in Ravenclaw is because everyone thinks I am from first meeting me, even though I'm actually a Gryffindor...
I think it goes back to Ravenclaw being only known for intelligence. While I'm smart (decently), Gryffindor captures me so much better, and it would be a disservice to the house to categorize me as a Ravenclaw. They're so much more than a high IQ!

Honestly the merch and the house colours of Ravenclaw really bug me. First off all, grey (I mean it's supposed to be silver but the scarves etc are def grey) and blue is THE MOST BORING colour combination and I feel like bronze and blue would at least be a bit more recognisable as the Ravenclaw house colours. The other house scarves, for example, are WAY more recognisable. I personally find this more annoying than the lack of merch (which can be a pain in the ass sometimes and honestly doesnt make sense). I've actually wanted to be in another house JUST so I could wear my house colours with more pride.
But our house colours are blue and bronze, plus, Gryffindor and Slytherin are the most popular houses so they get heaps of merch, then they’re like: Hufflepuff doesn’t get much representation (even though Fantastic Beasts exists) so they make them heaps of merch, Hello? Quality Ravenclaw merch that isn’t 100$?

I get it that you're pissed but hey! Blue is very beautiful color, I feel like Ravenclaw looks the best out of all the houses (And I'm Gryffindor) but that's my opinion. For example, sometimes they do Gryffindor too bright red which looks awful and then bright yellow ughhh, and I hate bright colors lol

I still think Ravenclaw is more popular. Gryfindors has a bad reputation because of fake fans, and being overrated. But at the end of the day, who cares what people think?
Most people aren't brave, daring or chivalrous, in reality, most people are conformist, selfish, cowards who follow the group and blindly listen to corrupt daddy government. Gryffindors popularity amounts to JK Rowling's favoritism, most of the important characters in the novels/ movies came from that house. It's the house that attracts the most posers, who want to be in it due to its popularity in the lore, not because they actually belong in that house. I'm glad I got sorted into Revanclaw, Its the house that attracts the least normies.

Right?! I mean, Ravenclaws are smart enough to get that the mascot of Ravenclaw is an eagle. Just because it's called RAVENclaw doesn't mean the mascot needs to be a raven.

Luna was way more critical than Cedric... which is all we had. Not counting fantastic beasts. Im reserving judgement on that being canon or not for the rest of the movies.

In my opinion, the reason why so many ravenclaws are not part of the plot of the story is because they are smart enough to know that harry potter is way too much trouble to deal with.

Ravenclaw also has the unique property of being capable of holding friendships across all houses with minimal complaints.
Slytherin, the only house that actually avoids other houses, are willing to befriend Ravenclaws because they can be valuable assets for achieving their ambitions.
They won't go near Hufflepuffs because they are Hufflepuffs, and they won't go near Griffindor because of bitter rivalry, but Ravenclaw? no issues there.
Ain't that the truth? ;) As a Slytherin I've had Hufflepuff's as friends (yes past tense) and honestly, Ravenclaws are generally better at keeping friendships and I get along with them really well. Sad but true, it was the Hufflepuff friends (my besties actually) who eventually walked out of my life and the Ravenclaws who stayed, because there has never been any emotional conflict in any way shape or form between us.
That being said, it is not uncommon for Ravenclaws and Slytherins to get along swimmingly. They are both thinkers and both posess a certain level of intellect/wit that can compliment eachother. At the same time they don't depend on eachother too much that it causes irritation in the long run. The rational Ravenclaw house is safe neutral ground and an emotionally sensitive Slytherin prefers safe and rational.
As for Gryffindors... I personally don't know any. I think they are just a bit too impulsive and out there for my taste... xD Saving the world and all. Good for them.

Charli James once for Halloween, I went as Luna and I ordered a tie for my costume, but as you’d expect, the stripes were silver and not bronze, so I literally took a brown sharpie and colored over them.

Shame that even you mostly focused on Ravenclaw as the "smart" house when the four most academically smart characters we know (Hermione, Percy, McG, Dumbledore) were in fact in Gryffindor. I think it's more important to point out Ravenclaw as the house of active minds, thinkers, creatives. Luna and Lockhart weren't what we would call perfect students, in any case hard work is more of a Hufflepuff thing (thinking about it, Hermione would have been great in Hufflepuff: hardworking, objectively fair, sometimes to the extent of being heartless, extremely loyal, just not very patient). Even Flitwick has a much more relaxed approach to teaching and rules than McG. Back to Luna and Lockhard, they both obsess over one topic and become excellent at it: for Lockhard it's memory charms, for Luna weird creatures. But I'm pretty sure they were the nightmare of most teachers.
Besides all that, Ravenclaw is no less than 2nd choice to most
Marie Bach I agree that RAVENCLAW isn't just the "smart" house, but sometimes it is. For instance, I am a Ravenclaw and the reason that I am is not because I focus on one area, I am an Eagle because I focus on ALL of the areas. Also, most people think Hermione should stay in Gryffindor or be a Ravenclaw, not a Hufflepuff. No shame on Hufflepuffs though. Hufflepuff is my second house.
I think Ravenclaw is more about being street smart than book smart.
@@araparth9106 I personally think Slytherins are street smart, since they're resourceful. Ravenclaws are mostly book smart, but they know how to put that knowledge to practical use, they don't just spit out random facts about Hogwarts: A History.

@@SvanEsch123 I think it's neither and both. The thing about Ravenclaw (any house, but especially them) is that they are all incredibly divers. We only getvto experience a handful of canon Ravenclaws (Flitwick, Luna, Lockhart, Quirrel, Cho, and that boyfriend of Ginny's) and they're all extremely different. Some are booksmart (McG and Hermione were both almost put there and they're the epitome of booksmart), some streetsmart (Flitwick), some have obsessive minds (Luna, Lockhart, Quirrel), some are eagles (like Megan here and Cho, as is proven is several scenes in the books where she is more than Harry's source of embarassement). Of course, Megan, stereotypes are true for some people, that's where they come from. But my point is that there is so much more to Ravenclaw which Seamus sadly neglected.
Loona is wonderful. By far my favourite student and she only appears a few times, the Ravenclaw diadem is by far the most interesting + beautiful magical object out there as for Flitwick - he was the conductor of the best choir ever! How cool is that!! "In noctem!"

You're not crazy. Rowling has pretty much said that Hufflepuff and Gryffindor are essentially one pair and Ravenclaw and Slytherin are the other.
According to her if there is a competition that one's own house isn't in, that the people of those houses tend to root for each other. And that inter house friendships usually are between people of those houses.
Real talk, I've always found that Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs tend to hang out and just let the other two duke it out all the time irl. I always kind of thought the same about the books too.
