A més a més, coneixereu el Matthew, nou integrant de l’equip d’Easy Catalan. Aquest és el seu primer vídeo, però ja en tenim gravats molts més! El Matthew és de Chicago, però actualment viu a Barcelona, i parla un molt bon català.

Hola, tots. Sóc americà de San Diego, Califòrnia i estic impressionat de què bé aquests catalans coneixen la cultura americana. No obstant, hi ha grandes diferències entre les regions. Aquí al "Estat Daurat", la gent és més liberal, generalment, què la gent del Sud--estats com Alabama, Texas, i Mississippi. Per exemple, aquí, més gent vol més control de les armes.
I'm a native English speaker and fluent in Spanish/Portuguese. Just had a random thought. I think I finally understand the feeling native Spanish/Portuguese speakers must have when listening to Italian, possibly French, and Portuguese to a lesser extent. It is so weird understanding every 5th word of Catalan but then being completely clueless a lot of the time as to what they are saying.
Soy hablante nativo de inglés y hablo español y portugués con fluidez. Acabo de tener un pensamiento al azar. Creo que yo entiendo por fin el sentimiento que deben tener los hablantes nativos de español y portugués cuando escuchan italiano, posiblemente francés y Portugués. Es muy raro poder entender cada quinta palabra de catalán pero en realidad estás totalmente despistado porque no comprendes lo que te dicen.

very large population of native Catalans :: Native Americans ("Indians") are a small minority; most of us (or our ancestors) are from ALL over the world. Mine are from Germany and England, 140 - 400 years ago.

open space: in Catalunya, one is never far from a town. They can be seen from almost any mountaintop. USA: there are some very remote, quiet, dark (at night for seeing stars) places
We take the idea of personal freedom much too far

Un poc de ideologia, sí, però a la banda certa. És per tot això que a vegades em sento molt orgullós de ser europeo. No que a Europa tot sigui perfecte, clar que no, però en general crec que estem un pas més endavant pel que fa els temes humanitaris i socials. Gràcies i felicitats! Sóc d'Anglaterra i és una mica estrany per mi perquè parlem la mateixa lígua però les nostres cultures ho són molt diferents. Em sembla que tenim més semblances amb Australià o Canadà.

@@EasyCatalan Referent una diferència política, jo record que va dir un professor quan estava en universitat fa molts anys: 'El partit Republicà d'Estats Units és com el partit Conservador de la Gran Bretanya, i el partit Demòcrata...és com el partit Conservador de la Gran Bretanya.' 🤨
En general hi ha molt més coneixement del que creia, més enllà dels tòpics i d'aquells coneixements superficials

Sempre penso en la diferència entre la vida com apareix a les pel·lícules i a les notícies, i la que veig de debò al meu voltant.
M'imagino que amb els Estats Units ha de passar el mateix, així que la imatge que arriba dels mitjans de comunicació ha de ser molt exagerada, basada només en les notícies més extremes.
No dic que sigui fals, però no crec que sigui representatiu.

Haha I mean I kind of agree with most of the stereotypes in this video about America....and I've lived here my entire life.
Also...... the weapons issue is BAD...... lots of guns and fire arms go around..... and there is ZERO monitoring or checking on these arms in the home.

In the section where the couple talk about how people of colour are persecuted in the States, you wrote in the subtitles that "it is a shame" but I think you mean "shameful", no? It's a shame if you arrive too late to a party and all the cake has gone, but shameful is something where someone should feel so much guilt and fingers pointing at them that they hang their head in shame. This confusion between "a shame" and "shameful" is a common mistake among speakers of English as a foreign language.
Few things I’d like to point out
1) it’s not the “bad army” that is the problem. Yes they’re the ones physically doing it, but it’s the government behind it all. I can safety say that most Americans can’t stand the government, especially with the idiot on charge.
2) I’m not gonna be that guy and say racism isn’t a thing. There’s racism here, but not as much as people think. I work outside and it involves me going to various places. People are a lot nicer to each other because we just want to go through our day undisturbed. Most of the time it’s leftists media like CNN that claim that it’s everywhere. And that is the problem of the right. In the American state of Virginia, the right leaning candidate won the lieutenant governor position…. And she’s a black American woman. It’s a very few percentage of people that are actually racist it’s just that when they happen to do something, media such as CNN want to exploit that as much as possible to brainwash people, and it works as you can see in the video.
3) Like my last point, brainwashing works, because NO country wants ILLEGAL immigrants. Every nation has a right to defend its borders and should decide who they let in or not. She even said it herself, “but then we forget we have that problem”. No sh1t, Spain’s been having a massive illegal problems with Africans entering from Morocco. Maybe focus on your own rather than criticizing another.
But yeah, everything else like stereotypes is pretty much based on something, but they’re just that, stereotypes. Fun video to watch. I will say one thing, it’s fine to stereotype, just don’t get or give an opinion on our politics, most of the in fighting within our country is actually political, not racial based or gender based. So please don’t pick a side or you’ll make an @$$ of yourself. Cheers!

En aquest cas tan sols preguntàvem sobre què pensen dels Estatus Units, més endavant segur que preguntarem sobre problemes com la immigració i el racisme aquí a Catalunya.
