If you're ever in a pinch, there's a CHANCE you'll have the opportunity to call in a summon. In order to complete the summon, you have to stand still and hold the prompted button for several seconds, during which you are left extremely vulnerable, and the summon may not be willing to help. If they are, however... Well, I prefer show, don't tell.

the beginning until before Ramuh arrived is called A Premonition ... the summoning part is Nox Divina (last part of the song for the summoning theme) ... Nox Aeterna is a bit different if Im remember correctly

Imagine if in the final chapter of final fantasy let's say Final Fantasy 20 when the last protagonist do the summon all the protagonist from all final fantasy appear and all of them combine their weapons and create a divine spear and attack the final boss and the last protagonist delivery the final attack
