    I have the same tractor which I am currently restoring. When I removed the steering wheel 8 years ago I had to use a puller, heat, and an air hammer and after that the seals started to leak and was noticeably harder to steer. I bought the A&I kit but just now got around to installing it but there is no fluid in the system to pop the old seal out. The A&I kit did not come with instructions so thanks for the video. I ended up removing the hand pump. I decided to rebuild the pump as I was not sure if the needle bearings were damaged. The pump is pretty simple design. I disassembled the pump and cleaned all the seal surfaces will 400 grit emery so not to affect the pump clearances. The only surfaces that need to be cleaned are the ones for the main seal (384373R1). The needle thrust washer and shaft needle bearing were worn so I am replacing them. Thrust bearing is F19633 and shaft bearing is A30588. The Case shaft seal kit is 535122R91.

    I have the same tractor with the same issue. I was blading my driveway today and the leaking got so bad I decided to fix it and found your video. I even got the part number from your video and ordered on Amazon. Thanks a lot for the video.

      Did your seal come in?

    • @budove58
      @budove58 Před 5 lety +1

      @@mowerdog Hey there. Yes my seal came in and I got the new seal in the steering column last night. The only difference was, the brass/bronze spacer would not fit all the way down the steering shaft. But the existing spacer was similar in size and was metal but came in two pieces so I just cleaned them up and reused them.

      @@mowerdog Yeah, it sure did. I just had to get some pressure built up and it popped out the same way.

    This video really helped me, particularly referring to the part #s. Also added a wheel puller to my tool supplies!

    Huh, twenty some years of beating on farm machinery for a living and I never once thought of using the bag a seal came in as a protector. That will be a handy trick someday when I don't have the items I normally use for that with me.

      My Dad always said "A poor man has poor ways" So in this case it's what I had at the time. I usually use food wrap if the seals come in a box...... Thanks for watching my video!!

    Great work! I have a 656 gas with the same issue. My issue is I think someone before me welded the nut that hold the steering wheel on, or at least that's how it looks. I have not put the impact on it yet, but the edges of the nut look welded to the inside of the column. Any suggestions out there:) Thanks Kevin Morrow old International lover

    • @mowerdog
      @mowerdog  Před 3 lety +1

      If it's welded take a grinder and grind the top of the nut and shaft off about 1/8 inch deep. Then try the impact on it. Good luck and post back.

    can you tell me how you got the steering wheel off

    • @mowerdog
      @mowerdog  Před 4 lety

      I backed the nut off until it was flush with the shaft. The I took a 1-1/4 diameter punch and while prying up on the wheel I hit the punch that was on top of the shaft and nut. Or you can try a puller....
