Just bought an 06 yesterday, super clean no rust no issues, cobra pipes, mustang seats, bags, bluetooth stereo and a windshield along with it off the bike in case I wanted to put it on, $2500. Can't wait to get some miles on it while the weather is still nice.
I have an 2001 1100c Sabre 71,000 miles, Cobra pipes, never a problem. Payed $5600.00 in 03, had 4k miles on it. What a wonderful machine.
Dave Ryan I have a 03 my battery died after having key on with bike off for 15 min had to push start bike has 19 k miles q. Is does it have a alternator because it ran fine when I push started down hill
I currently have on a charger and it is starting fine might be a dumb q
That is great news. I Just purchased a 2001 with 31K miles - got a good deal but was concerned about the mileage - If I can get 30k more miles that would be great because it is the best bike I've ever owned.
Power comparison to harley 1200 sportster?
Where do you bouthg the cobra pipe bro
The 1100 Honda Shadow has the best power to weight ratio out of all the Shadow bikes. Extremely low maintenance and extremely reliable. Possible the most reliable bike ever. I have a 1100 Shadow and I put over 40,000 + miles on it and it runs as good as new never any major issues.
Bricklinsv1970 I also have a 1100 that I just bought! Love the way it rides just wasn’t expecting so much vibration. Everyone says there smooth but mine is not so much. 55 is ok but 75 is almost like my sportster.Does all the shadows have vibrations.??
No it shouldn't be vibrating. Theres something going on with your bike. Your mirrors and arms shouldn't be shaking from vibration on a Shadow. Do you have loud pipes? Can you post a video of it?
I owned a 2004 and had smooth power delivery but nothing like my 1800 VTX.
Bricklinsv1970 Thanks for the reply! It does have loud pipes on it.I replaced the air filter yesterday and that seemed to help some, will be changing spark plugs this weekend.Everything is still original equipment on it.
Im looking to buy one. Would u buy a 1100 4speed?
Just got one of these today. By the time I got home I was crying from joy. Best money I’ve spent my entire life.
Yay just got my baby yesterday 💜 2003, 4,800 miles $2,300😈 mint condition.
getting a mustang seat and hand grips for upgrade is a must...congrats on new bike I have a 2003 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100 and love it..
Rt Gibson oh it’s a thing huh? Bought my 02 Sabre 1100 with a mustang seat already on it and holy shit is it comfy!! 👍🏻
@@rtgibson109 I'm thinking about making that upgrade you suggested 🤔
U got good deal on her
@@sushibar1 I definitely did and she is amazing
I love my 1100!! My speedometer is about 10 off too. Im only 129 lbs and i love the way that the weight of the bike holds up to wind!
Is it too heavy for around town/city traffic?
Supposedly the Sabre is geared lower, more for city riding.
Bought mine for 900 in excellent condition, 2002. only really needs one part, and has a nice deep blue paint job with phantom-like skulls. Runs and drives great, a really good deal
I have a 2001 Shadow Sabre 1100 black with a grey tribal scheme. Have owned it for 6 years, paid $2500 for it. Vance & Hines longshot pipes, Max and Eddie leather saddlebags, custom seat cover, crash bars and rear back rest all came on it the only thing that's ever needed is usual maintenance. I replaced both tires both brake pads and the steering bearings other than that she's awesome has never broken down never quit on me
My son just bought same year, same pipes, red with flames. I've been riding for 30 years and this is one of the nicest bikes I've ridden. He paid $2000, has 25k miles.
@@fxrmike5145 awesome she'll treat him well if he does the same. But im sure you already taught him that 👍
Just realized i posted that 2 years ago. Ive only changed the oil 2x and a new battery since then. Last battery was like 5 years ago. No other issues at all. Still has same clutch that it came with almost 9 years ago. Idk if its stock.
@@lucyfuir6386 it's just crazy that we picked up the bike yesterday so I watched a few videos on it... SO much love for these bikes. I feel really good about this purchase. Thanks for the feedback
Nice video. An '83 (1st yr) V65 Sabre was GIVEN to me. I have a 30" inseam so I didn't feel safe, but I read, after putting a couple hundred on it, that Bonneville shocks should give me the 1" lower seat I need.
A slimmer seat should make it even lower. The bike was parked for a LONG time. I also had to buy a stock carb and opted for new tires, a bikini fairing and tune-up.
The torque and power are incredible. I've never had a 100 horsepower bike, and today the Sabre makes 132! I'll never need another bike. Kudos Honda. Peace out.
I have an 1988 Shadow VT1100C, needs a bit of love but never lets you down.
traded for a 2002 sabre 1100, 6k on the odometer its 2022 now. I got some miles ahead of me reading how well these things run! Power is there! handling is very agile for the size, some viking bags maybe some kind of a sound syslem and a nice gps should bring this thing up to speed. I dont even care that its not fuel injected. i got some new fuel lines, brake pads a new fuel filter and a carb rebuilt kit for starters, also the petcock was leaking so that got replaced already! VERY SWEET RIDE
Just bought a 2000 shadow sabre for $750, put $200 into it and it's perfect. First bike and this video made me very happy about my investment
Got a 93 a month ago $600+$200 to get the title sorted out $25 brake pads a couple of vacuum fittings repurposed as fuel lines and it eats the highway up. I love it.
@@christieevans1886 yeah man. Its a badass bike. Absolutely love it.
For $750? Where do u live bro
@@fahad6568 GA but this bike was kinda in rough shape when I got jt
This is my first bike. I’ve owned it a year and have put 6k miles on it, mainly city miles. I love this bike. To be honest, I haven’t ridden anything else to be able to compare it too but also don’t care to.
Alexandro Art Try a harley fatbob or vrod or nightrod. Or a m109r most fun bikes I've ridden. :)
@Alexandro same here, I've ridden several Harley's and as far as smoothness goes they don't come even close. czcams.com/video/oNm-GbCkd-8/video.html

Just got a 2001 based of the review and test drive from this page, after I found THE ONE I've been extremely happy. KUDOS
I have an 02 shadow sabre...orange with ghost flames from the factory..people think its custom paint... I love the almost solid wheels and the front fender...its beefy without being too big...i learned to ride on this bike 3 years ago and still love it...im even a bigger guy.. 6'5" 315 lbs..highway..twisties...all no problem...i ride across ohio on it.. It turns heads even being 16 years old..i think the sabre is a fantastic bike...added a 3 inch foot control extention.. Super comfy for me
I agree with your statement of the Shadow Sabre being a fantastic bike! I have a 2003 with Vance and Hines Long Shots, Mustang seat and bags. But I'm 5'7" and 160, so I am at the other end of the spectrum. The bike is perfect size for me, and will hold up to anything you throw at it.
Jonathan Tyree what’s your opinion on a 2001 shadow saber with 28k miles? Thinking of getting one for a good deal, anything I should watch out for?
I’ve only had my 04 Shadow Spirit for a little over a year now. What caught me off guard was how tall (high) the gears are. When you’re doing a quick acceleration you’re 30 MPH coming out of first gear. If you drop below 60 on the highway you have to downshift out of 5th gear. I’m assuming the the Sabre has a bit lower gears?
Jonathan Tyree did you happen to sell this bike.? I’m about to buy one in Lexington ky that looks just like yours
@@stevenpatterson1821 i actually still own it. And bought a second one. I spend my weekends in cincinatti so i keep one there
I have had my 1100 shadow for 7 riding seasons and is the best bike I have owned out of 37, Iv'e had. I put floorboards on it for comfort and made a lot better for my legs.
+ to the floorboards, just added some to mine this weekend and it makes all the difference on long rides.
Pegs are sporty-er? More lean ?
Whats a driving season?? Lol
Some people put their bikes up in the winter lol
I own a 2003 honda sabre 1100 and love it! My only gripes is that the lady I bought it from got rid of her vance and hines pipes and put back on a stock honda muffler and that it seems like this bike for what ever reason is a bit front heavy and it makes it a bit getting used to on slow tighter turns. Other then that it is a great bike, people can keep their expensive harleys and indians my honda is just right for me!
Lol i call mine a honda davidson
Just picked an 06 1100 up, 21,000 miles, silverish, factory flames, Vance and Hines pipes,$2500.00. Looks, runs great. Buddy was looking for one, saw it for sale in a yard. He will take ownership tomorrow. Nice ride, feels like it will keep up with my vtx 1800 pretty well. Got a little windshield on it.
Bought a 2006 Sabre last month. 12k miles, $2000. Love it. Coming from a ninja 650
I just bought a 2007 with only 3K two weeks ago, $2499...just like new but with windshield, floorboards, saddlebags, custom seat, heated grips, cruise, front light bar...great bike and great price!
I bought a 2005 one , 3 years ago with 1200 miles. On it. And enjoy it. A lot
Trying to buy an 06 shadow spirit 1100, currently on a CBR300R and need something lower with more power
shit i payed 2500 for mine with 40k
Where did you get it from Matt? It’s A killer deal
I went from an 03 750 spirit to an 02 1100 Sabre. Cool story huh? Both wonderful, but night and day comfort wise moving up to the 1100.
I went from 2012 rebel 250 to 01 Sabre 1100
Is it to much for a beginner
This may be Honda's best Cruiser.
Have you heard of the Honda pacific coast.. it was a true cruiser bagger..
can’t compare..
it’s a truck on two wheels..
way better for cruising..
it never caught on though?
Magna is hondas best cruiser.
You had the choke on when you hit the highway
After owning many harleys bought a 2002 1100 shadow sabre and will only buy hondas now my favorite bike I have ever owned
I have one of these chopped and bobbed and boy is it a blast . the foot pegs are set a little higher because you want to turn a little deeper . It turns very well .
Just so you know , you short shifted that bike . 30 , 60 , 90 , 120..… I have buried the needle on mine .
Stops to get on freeway and fully engages choke.... What the hell?
Yep, what's with that ???
july of 88 i bought an 87 vt1100 shadow (spirit), still have it. in 90 i took it to the drag strip, it ran low 14's with no wheelie bars. in 91 i started racing it ET bracket style, bought wheelie bars, and it ran consistently 13.65 1/4 mile 96 mph. between march 91 and oct 94 i put 2400 passes down the drag strip on it. won a few events, including the indiana / ohio ihra meet in muncie indiana. i personally prefer the 87, 88, 89, 90 shadows with 4 speed transmissions. the shadow has two downfalls, the first one it the T shape battery, as long as it is warm outside, it will start, but cold the battery wont start the bike. the second and most important (if you have potholes in your area, the oil filter mount is below the frame, and if you bottom out the bike, it will snap off. if you are loading the bike with a ramp it will snap off when the mount hits the tailgate. I had mine welded back on.
I owned a 2000 sabre. Bought it new, all black...that bike was just awesome. Literally...change the oil...done, self adjusting valves and shaft drive. You put the juice on it, it squatted and pulled out! I put cobras on mine as well.
I put 12k on it and sold it for about 2/3rds what I played for it new.
I miss that machine...it was truly a great bike.
I got a 2001 spirit 1100.. 69500 miles and still running strong.. honda best engines ever..
Any and All Honda engines are the best Honda engines..
Chinese clone knock offs are getting better too lol
I've had the '05 for 10 years and love it! Still stock though. Definitely needs an aftermarket seat.
Randy Scarborough I got a mustang seat and IT’S wonderful. My bike is a 2001 Saber with 32.000 miles. Never any trouble with it. And still love it!
Seat hight is adjustable, so if you make it higher you will not feel as high. Very reliable motorcycle, sufficient power and sounds great with an aftermarket exaust such a cobra! In regards to your comment abut twisties, no it is not a bike you want to take to sharp curbs, (I mean sharp curves) Unless you are a very skillful driver. This will do great in highways and backroads but not twisties.
Honda needs to reintroduce these.. with fuel injection they could sell a boat load of them.. best bike honda has made.. well the goldwing is a different animal
The problem is they're geared so low. Freeways are 45mph in Japan so 60 is the to end of controllable on one of these bikes. With the speedometer being 10% fast, 80 which really equals 72 is just so revved out. I've ridden from California to Washington and it was miserable. I do love the bike and it's great for in town. It gets looks from all sorts of people, even people driving Ferraris. If there was a bigger back tire that would go a long way with making this bike a better rider.

Hhhjjj
I have a 94 Magna V4. It sounds pretty good with the drag pipes, not to mention it's got plenty of power for a 750.
@@jaguarcat311 The Honda VT1100C Spirit is geared the highest of all the 1100's you might like that one. I love mine
Geared better with a single pin crank.
I bought a 1994 Honda Magna back in May, possibly June. It has a V4 engine. I can tell that I am spoiled by the sound of the V4. My Magna is a 750 and sounds (to me, anyway) more aggressive. Don't misunderstand, the twin sounds good.
Love my 94 magna....light and fast.
I learned something new today, thanks..
Honda is a major share holder in showa suspension..
so,
yes they are definitely stock!
Got an 07 VT1100C2, 3rd Honda after 2 750's. Outstanding ride with an awesome sound from the V&H Longshots. And yes, there is about a 10% error in the speedo due to it being a mechanical speedo. So with the needle at 80 I am doing 72/73.
Did u buy the vance and hines Longshots or they came with it?
I'm looking for my 05 sabre 1100 too. Only available are cobras
@@fahad6568, it came with them installed. I don't think the carbs were re-jetteted though. I get some exhaust post firing on mid to low level engine breaking, no real damage and I kind of like the sound.
@@fahad6568 check out bikerperformance.com. They have longshots for the 00-07 Sabre for $450. There was one other site that I found, just googled "vance & hines longshots sabre"
Dude be careful downshifting like that, you might lock up the back wheel one day 🤷♂️ You don’t need a gear indicator you just need to go down one click at a time brother. Anyway a beautiful bike? In the name of Jesus may God Bless y’all
Shocks are stock. I bought mine new in 2006. One of the reasons I bought it was for the smooth suspension and the nice chrome covers on the front and back.
Did Honda stop making the Shadow 1100? I'm in the market for my first bike and looking for something to possibly ride cross country that is both comfortable and can handle faster highway speeds without vibrating. At the same I don't want a big heavy touring bike.
@@skiggy007 The Honda sabre would probably work fine for a trip like that. They are shaft drive and water cooled so pretty maintenance free. But they have duel carbs so injected might make a difference you want.
I have 1998 Vt1100 ACE, love it, goes really well, in general very reliable, the only mech issue was I had to get new dif seals plus tyres and battery, but yes nice bike, not looking sell any time soon ! :-)
2022, debating on grabbing one of these. 2005 9,xxx miles. $2750. Seem like a decent price considering the inflated vehicle prices all around.
Picked up a 2001 Honda shadow 1100 4 weeks ago already have 1200 miles on it. Such a nice comfy bike
Bought one from 1986 yesterday, first bike ever. Now I still need to finish my lessons so I can legally ride it😂 gives me time to polish it up a bit.
Comments about the reliability makes me comfortable with my purchase.
Nice vid
My 2002 has a Corbin (best seat ever) and it just shines on the road!
I ride a 06 Sabre with cobra pipes. Your bike is WAY quieter then mine.
I agree about the speedometer mine is at least 5mph off.
What kind of gas do you put in? Friend says to use regular it burns cooler, step dad says use premium it burns cooler
Whos right lmao?
Luke-o 1234 neither one. It doesn’t make a difference.
Not sure why you would keep playing with the choke as you're riding it. Has the aftermarket exhaust made the jetting that far off?
I have an 2005 Shadow Sabre. 15000 miles cobra pipes re jetted carbs. Runs great. My first cruiser. always had crotch rockets but I,m 65 now. Nice bike
Love my 2002. My dad says it's too loud which makes it even better. The only issue I have with it is the fuel pump. I've had to replace it a few time within the past couple of years. They don't make an OEM for it anymore so I by cheap ones on Amazon. I like the floorboards on mine
Concert to carburetor.. it will be better on fuel, more predictable, more reliable, and cheaper.. don’t fix it unless it’s broke.. when the injectors or pump give up.. carburetor time!
@@bmint The carbs have a fuel pump also to keep proper pressure in lines, I've replaced 2 so far, on a 89 700 magna and a 2007 Honda vtx1100
@@tyler.s4969 my Yamaha v star has that system, fuel pump just keeps fuel on the ready, it will still run and ride with the pump disabled, just no top end while under load, so just no fun lol..
sorry I was under the impression his bike was fuel injected..
But even so, could there not be a carb that could use just the fuel in the bowl with a gravity fed tank on an engine that size?
Do Harleys have fuel pumps?
I had one. Liked it. Moved onto bigger. Hated the sound put stock exhaust back on.
I've got an 04 sabre purple pearl flame. Great bike. But to be honest, those cobra pipes sound like my stock ones. Personally I wouldn't add pipes.

Honda should bring back the Vt1100C.
Fuel injection would make this a stellar bike.
"I like shaft drive bikes they don't have chains so you don't have to mess with the chain." These guys are not very knowledgeable about motorcycles, and rarely do they explain the reason they like or dislike a particular feature on a bike. So don't listen to these salesman and do your homework before buying any bike. That said, I own a shadow 1100 and it is a reliable bike, not a speed demon, but comfortable and reliable. And the difference between a shaft drive and a chain drive is torque. You loose a percentage of torque from the motor with a shaft drive bike. But a shaft drive is usually less maintenance than a chain.
Do you think this bike is good for a couple?
This is a dumb question, but would this be a good first cruiser? Currently riding a ninja 300 but I know a guy selling one of these for $2800 and I'm in the market for a cruiser
Question for anyone, would this bike be okay for somebody that is new? I own a cbr500r and my dad has been looking at this bike, thanks!
steven lyons yes. Have him take a rider course and he should be fine.
steven lyons this was my first bike, and I still ride it. Bought it 4 years ago, it's a 2001, changed oil and plugs, put in a new battery and new tires not one single issue. Yes the bike is great all around.i love mine
Would this be a potential starter bike?
I’m 6’2” and weigh 205 lbs, I’ve driven standard for years but never ridden a bike, not sure if that helps though.
take the msf class.. you'll be okay
Absolutely. I’m 5’10’, 135 lbs, and I own a vt1100c2 as my first bike. Given your size, if I can handle it you’ll be fine. The power is totally manageable. Docile, but always there if and when you need it.
This bike is fine also lots of experience driving actual manuel cars w/clutch helps. Same concept just hand and foot is reversed.
What’s the difference between an 1100 Sabre and & 1100 Spirit?
The Sabre has drag bars and less rake (fork angle).
rear disk brakes , slightly more aggressive gearing. Sabre is considered the hot rod of the 1100 shadow.
I thought one was a v 4
I think just some cosmetics
Yes the showas are stock
I had an '06 with only 10,000 miles land in my lap. Buddy traded his crotch rocket to an ex OU football player but didn't like the 'cruiser world' and sold it to me with a trailer for 3 grand. He had painted solid black over the flames. I need to find some artist kid to put ghost flames on. I've grown to love it - and it is fun to swerve all over the road it's so perfectly balanced and low center of g for a heavy beast, i probably look drunk.
