We spent a gorgeous day exploring and eating our way through the beautiful town of Bern. This pretty little town is actually the capital of Switzerland! The Old Town of Bern was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site because of the preserved medieval city centre.
This has been such an incredible trip and we loved every moment in this beautiful country. From its impressive mountain peaks, to its scenic valleys and charming old cities, Switzerland stole our hearts. We can’t wait to return! So glad you enjoyed your stay in our country. Just a bit sad you could not be in Bern when most everything was open and full of people. Every year I see at least one group of tourists in Bern having fondue 🫕 in the summer time. We understand it's your only chance to do this so we don't judge. It's just strange to us though since we only eat it when the weather is cold. And a nice glass of white wine as well helps with your digestion. 😉

I often forget how lucky i am to live in Bern. To see it thru a visitors eyes is fun. But normaly the city is much busier. 1. August we normaly spend at home with a bbq or we eat a brunch at a Farm somewhere.

Fundue with potatoes is really the best combination, even for me as a Swiss. Like Älplermagronen, Fundu and Raclett, Rösti is probably the most typical and traditional of our country and I would not voluntarily do without any of these dishes.
However, a fondu, e.g. in the Gruyere region (French-speaking region) would have been a good step better than there at Bärenplatz.
