    Bought the black, had it for 6 months and love it. The bezel action is very smooth and you figure out the sweet spot for rotating it since it doesn’t have a coin edge. I actually have grown to like the helium escape valve and feel it adds character. I love this watch and going to buy the white as well and wear it on the black rubber strap.

      I thought about this exact strategy so I would have bracelet and strap be interchangeable between the two dials - but it does seem a little gratuitous. But I love the 300m so much it’s maybe the only watch I wouldn’t mind having in two colors

    @Lee_K_5555 Před 4 lety +2

    I had a white dial Christopher Ward C60 Trident 600 diver, the previous generation (Mk II). Loved the watch, but legibility was compromised due to the polished stainless steel hands and indices. The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M fixes that with black hands and indices, making for excellent contrast. I also like how the white dial tones down the wave pattern and makes it more subtle than on the black or the blue.
    An affordable black-dial diver is a must in a collection. Tons of SKK007s still available out there. After that, I would consider the white dial Seamaster as my "special occasion" diver. It really is something.

    Congrats and I hear ya, starting to gravitate towards white dial watches. For a black dial diver under $1500 what about a Oris Aquis or Fortis B-42 Marine Master ... slightly used of course. Both are great and underrated Swiss brands IMO. Love the Spy vs. Spy !

    Beautiful pieces. I‘ve sold my 90‘s Seamaster and I will definitely buy again a seamaster. Bracelet is just beautiful and comfortable and although some people don’t like the escape valve I think it became a characteristic of this watch over years. Maybe you should look on that valve not from aesthetics and also not from usage perspective. It is a part of the DNA.

    • @n-igmawatchtalk8712
      @n-igmawatchtalk8712 Před 3 lety +3

      I think you might be misunderstanding what was said. Both black and white dials are polished ceramic, so they look glossy . Rob was talking about the engraving being matte grey on black dial and matte white on the white dial.

    • @baegyu6715
      @baegyu6715 Před 5 měsíci

      @n-igmawatchtalk8712 you are not understanding this..check out the two in real. Black one looks all glossy overall from bezel to glass and from glass to dial, lights just dance and reflect against it.
      White one does not. White dial looks like plastic or matt. It does have unique charms to it but lacks that luxury feel to its look. Black vivid lines present in white dial looks like someone used ink fine liner around the edges

    The grey dial looks great and is the most blingy one at first sight but i think it could become too „flashy“ if it is your only watch.

    @jumboJetPilot Před 4 lety +2

    Omega ought to come up with forest green, burgundy, light blue, salmon, rusty orange, and some other unusual dial/bezel colors just for fun. I also think every single model made should be a four handed GMT. Many fellow pilots will go diving on some of our longer layovers. And many serious divers will cross many time zones in pursuit of their passion. A watch that suits both endeavors only makes sense to me.
    As for scratches - very easy to remove with a brillo pad. That’s how I keep my 22 year old SMP looking absolutely brand new.

I did see a white one on the wrist of an AD sales person some months ago and the face just popped, I think Omega got not only the watch right but from what I've seen all the colorways look great but for me and for this model the white just edges it for this piece but as I say I think they all look great, oh and I have no problem with the helium escape valve at all as it's a characteristic of the 300 diver.

    I think the black looks best with the waved dial. The white would 100% be my choice if it had a solid ceramic dial without the wave cuts.

    Both are beautiful! White definitely looks larger, but depending on the wrist size, it might not be an issue.
    Part of what makes watch collecting(?) fun is that buying 2nd hand, you can really try a bunch of different watches without wasting too much money. Buying full retail though is a huge money sink, unless it's a once off!

    I like the white, but the black one has an extra special look to it especially in the sunlight.

    Honestly I think they both look really look good. Either one works for me as far as colour dials go.
    It's 1/12/21 I have been wearing my new planet ocean 39.5mm rubber strap for four days now. I would really suggest anyone that wants a omega divers watch to go into their AD
    And try on the 300 over one of the divers watches that has
    the slats all the way around. My 39.5mm is much easier to spin compared to the 300. I tried the 300 on and found the 300 very hard to turn over my 39.5mm. put the watches side by side. Don't take my word for it. Try both the 300. Then try the BEZEL with the slats all the way around. You really need to compare both watches on and see the 300 is not easy.

    I'd say it's the contrast of black and white causing it to look bigger. Kind of like gym lighting, the lighting is usually rather harsh but that means it causes shadows to form on your body and it give you the appearance of being bigger

    While I am not a fan of that honkin' Helium Release Valve on these watches, I really do like the overall look of these watches...
    The dials look great. Plus, they moved the Date Window down the the Six O'clock position. Which, IMHO, is far better than having it at the 3 Marker. It just makes the whole dial look cleaner, and more symmetrical...

      The HE valve is a signature Seamaster icon. Just like the cyclopes eye on the submariner date. Not something you're likely to see them remove. Honestly like the look of it. It makes it instantly recognizable, and doesn't get in the way at all while wearing it.

    Personally, I went with the grey/silver dial. I Own an Explorer II with a white dial, and few watches with black and blue dials. Nice to have a different look. All the colors are great.

    Its the black trim on the indices that make
    It pops out, 3D, so it's just a personal preference. For me its tge black one, its more classy, it goes with anything.

    Sold my month old 43mm planet ocean and bought this white dial. While the PO is more "premium" with applied arabic markers and Omega logo, the SMP is more for everyday wear with a very legible white dial and date. If someone is on the fence between PO/smp, get the smp if it will be your daily wear. PO is nice but the 43mm version is chunky and heavy. I'm rocking mine on a 20mm tan nato strap.

    I have the white and blue dials. Had the black but traded it when I purchased a Rolex Ceramic “no date” Sub. My only critique is please put something down on the wood to prevent unnecessary scratches.

    Love that white dial - maybe put it on that black rubber strap for the contrast? Are Omega rubber straps quality?

    • @Matt-bg5wg
      @Matt-bg5wg Před 3 lety

      They are. I just bought the black dial with the steel bracelet (for potential resale later) but bought the rubber strap extra and got Omega to switch them out. It’s a beautiful, elegant and comfortable design, feels really great on the wrist and very stable. I have a Rolex Sub so I found myself comparing the two steel bracelets too much (Rolex is better by a mile), so switching the Omega out for a rubber strap with the black dial creates the ultimate smart casual everyday wrist watch. I love it.

    That white dialled Omega is gorgeous! Too bad that at 42mm it's just WAY too big for my 6 and 1/2 inch wrist. Looks perfect in you though! 😃😃😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

      Although I could barely wear the 42mm on my 7.2” left wrist I already have the Hesalyte Moonwatch at 42 and have decided that’s the only 42mm I want in my collection. I’m holding out for this watch to come out in a 40mm case. The new laser engraved white ceramic wave dial with its larger waves than previous models is unmatched in the industry. Taken together with the mildly domed anti reflective sapphire crystal, the 2 tone lume, the skeletonized handset, the symmetry of the 6 o’clock date window and the dimensional hour markers in my view this dial is nowhere approached in the dive watch marketplace. When you add the ceramic bezel, the 15000 gauss magnetic resistant chronometer movement modestly but handsomely decorated and displayed there is no situation when this watch is out of place.

    It's kinda the same concept if you paint one room black, and another room (same size) white - the black room will feel a lot smaller. Something with light reflection. I only know bc I witnessed it years back. Nice vid!👍

    Black dial will look considerably bigger than the white . It’s like that with the c ward c60 I think it’s because the black has black bezel so total uniformity with the white the uniformity is broken by the black bezel ..
