James is invited to the cookout. The way this white dude dismantled this caller almost brings me to tears. Thank you sir😊
What brings me to tears is the lack of compassion he showed if the story about his aunty dying in a BLM protest is correct.
@@Da_Big_G That’s why James likely ignored that: it has zero to do with the situation or why we’re protesting.
@@KyoAWare, it might not be relevant to the underlying rights and wrongs of BLM, but upon learning this information, his approach should have been radically different. For instance, maybe I would have said:
"I am very sorry to hear about your bereavement and my prayers are with you in this horrible situation that I wouldn't wish on anybody. However, I believe there are too many deaths occurring at the hands of U.S. police officers that I believe could be avoided with a less adversarial style of policing and I appreciate that while not everyone appreciates the way in which they are making their views known, the England players are taking a stand for something I believe needs to be addressed, because one death that could have been avoided with a less adversarial style of policing is too many."
@@Da_Big_G With all due respect, that would be beating a dead horse to death thrice because our message was made so very very clear in the first place that any person who pretends or has pretended not to know why would very likely, as in 95%, be disingenuous. It required no repeating and it’s not on us because that man chose not to listen or misconstrue the dialogue. I will not assume his intentions. It feels your shifting the issue at hand to focus O’ Brien’s lack of a response vs this ignoramus acting out of bad faith and likely willful ignorance. That too is very dishonest and absurd in my opinion, as it’s not about O’Brien because HE knows what we were on about.

@@frankklein4872 spot on
I'll admit i'm not a football fan in any way... but i gotta ask: Who cares if a player is kneeling before a game? What impact has that on you... i really fail to see what's so harsh about it.
It's the same thing as over here in the states. People see it as disrespecting their country. When in reality protest is one of the most patriotic things you can do for a country. It also brings to light a fact that makes people uncomfortable...that there's been groups of people in this world who have been living with less freedoms and privilege than the vast majority of others. I think thats the biggest reason...they don't want to have to admit most of their lives has benefited from the privileges they've been allowed to live with.
I would say the same when some refuse to take the knee who cares if they want to?
Because people don't want to believe there is a problem in the UK. And if there is they really dont want to be confronted with it.
It's an excellent question.
My initial thought was that perhaps the player are highlighting a major issue that those people fail to think about, and simply don't like to think about. Because it's easier that way.
To put things simply, standing is an acknowledged gesture of respect. There is a custom in the armed forces of standing to attention when a superior officer enters the room, for instance. The problem is that the kneeling tends to be done during the national anthem, when people are supposed to be standing as a gesture of respect to their country (which pays them lots of money to play football).
British flag for an England game.... can’t even wave the right flag 😂

Irish born Protestants who use the Union Jack flag and loyalty to the crown as political rhetoric (as opposed to any genuine, geographical association) maybe but to think the Scots would cheer England on? Come on, that's just silly.
@@mansakonko7777 Whoosh!
Why do people come on national radio in an attempt to put forward a position and yet completely crumble under the slightest scrutiny?
because they haven't actually thought out their position, and more often than not, their positions are based of feelings, so when scrutinised by facts, all it can do is crumble, the real tragedy is that the cognitive dissonance is so strong and they are so invested emotionally invested in their position, when the flaws in their thinking is exposed, they double down on the position as opposed to move from their position

b)sounded ridiculous under scrutiny
c)realized he actions were contrary to what he professes to be (and England football fan)

They never want to concede that their actual viewpoint on this is a lot more petty and irrelevant.
This man definitely didnt have an auntie that died because of a BLM protest.
After thousands of BLM protests 93% have been peaceful. On top of this after over a year of protests less than 30 people died.
