- I fixed Mulan 2020 by fanediting "I'll Make a Man Out of You," into the movie, complete with lip-synced singing from Donnie Yen.
Disney took the songs out of the Mulan remake, but I've put them back! This edit fully integrates the live-action movie with the original song and is a labor of love to the original.

I've paid attention to as much detail as I could to truly realize what this scene could have been. Changes include:
• introducing a complete training arc where Mulan struggles leading to a more satisfying emotional journey. Mulan fails in training several times, she trains harder then everyone else by training at night, and after being told to, "Pack up, go home," she redoubles her efforts and surpasses her fellow soldiers.
• having Commander Tung "sing" the song like Shang
• adding and adjusting numerous foley sound effects to emphasize the new edit (even small details like adding a sound effect for Mulan hitting her foot in her taiji jump front slap, or adding cloth and wind sound effects for Commander Tung's taiji demo)
• combining footage from the HDR version of Mulan and AI upscaled footage in 4K for the best picture quality.
If you haven't seen the movie yet, don't worry about spoilers. The end result is a story that is pretty different from the movie's. I had to take a lot of scenes out of context to give her this more emotional training arc.
Also as a bonus, we have Donnie Yen lip-synced to I'll Make a Man Out of You, while doing jianshu, which is what we all really wanted :)

What everyone doesn't seem to realize is I love this what you did I actually do I think this is wonderful I even posted it with compliments. That's not my argument. am saying this as a woman , this damn song is a very large part of the movie and the ideals the army will soon change as it progress.
in the end of the movie, the entire perception of women got changed in the end of the movie, in my humble opinion , the song highlighted the top of their systemic sexism and it got a high place to crumble down to when mulan saved the emperor

Mulan didn't born strong : she became strong through training and that's why she s impressive in the original Disney
@ASAP.69 No, in the live action she has "chi", a sort of power that makes her strong. In the legend of Mulan she trains ( even if she is strong) but she has no Chi. Same for the old movie.... In the new movie the dad trains her because she has a lot of chi and that would be a waste to don't train her.

But in the original legend of Mulan, which is actually the source for the 1998 version, Mulan is already a skilled fighter when she joins the army. So Disney stayed more true to the original story with the 2020 remake.
@@ymi2.02 even if that is true it doesn't make for an interesting story. The animated movie Mulan had good character development because she learned and became stronger through the story which is more realistic than being perfect from the beginning.
in the original legend she was a badass before she joined the military. her village believed women should be taught to defend themselves. she became a general and when her company found out she was a woman they didn't care. please read the source material
The fact that this video is a thousand times better than the one in the actual movie just shows how integral and important the music of the original movie was and also how awful and pointless the film's editing is. This edit actually captures the magic of the animation's scene

ive always loved the original movie and this scene it captures the idea that being a "man" in times of strife does not nessicarrly mean being male but having the courage and strength to stand up for others even when the odds seem hopeless which is a truly beautiful and important message that i think has been warped by the critics to the original movie and this song

Disney is very good with making animated film and kids film, but martial art genera is simply not their strong suit.
If it was their intent to make the live action version of Mulan the martial art genera, they probably should have chosen an Asian director that got experience with the martial art genera films. Because martial art genera is very different from most of what the American did so far and is even very different from action genera. Liu Yi Fei had been playing characters of the martial art genera for over 10 years, but this is probably her most failed film ever.
I hope Disney sees this shit.

@@jswatch9270: I played with this a little bit early on. But most of the quality instrumentals I found were too epic sounding to start off with. They don't quite work with the early training scenes cause they're too much. Although they'd be great for the ending parts.
If you happen to know of some good instrumentals that match up well with the original and aren't super epic I could try it out some time.
My next project with this was gonna be inserting the Chinese version of the song. But I'm waiting for the Chinese dub to be released as well so the spoken lines can also be in Chinese.

I like how you managed to tell a better story in 3.5 min using what we already knew of the character than a company with all the money and power in the world.

Some people say because of potential cancel culture. I genuinely don’t believe that because the vast majority of people understand that that is not what the song is about lol. I think the producers were just too lazy/cheap to include a musical number that required an orchestra, vocalist, etc and y’all can fight me on that one.

I haven't seen the film, but after reading your comment, it's kinda redundant of Disney to remove this song from the film. Despite the fact they wanna make it "serious", but they still stayed with the "family friendly" style. They wanted a serious version of Mulan? It's best not to target it towards a very young audience.

This is so amazing. I thought this was in the movie. It's one of my favorite inspirational songs of all time. I never seen the movie, but I can't stop watching this video. Mulan is my favorite animation of all time. The real movie with this song, that's powerful stuff. Especially the ending. Thank you, thank you a thousand times for this. It's really quite awesome!!! Although this won't redeem the movie since the movie wasn't made to put this song in, the editing is really great and you did what you could from this meh at best movie. Amazing job.
Thanks! Mostly trying to make lemonades out of lemons. Always wanted to see this song realized in live-action, and there's just enough clips that I could salvage from the movie to do it.
My dream is for this is to go viral, so we'll all just forget the actual movie, and remember this as Mulan 2020 instead :)

The legend of Mulan continues today. Could you imagine a young woman working this hard to deceive an army into thinking she's a man, all for the love of her father and family? I can only imagine the hardship she endured, but her endurance and heart are the reason why we know her story today, thousands of years later. Scholars are unsure how much is truth and how much is fiction about her life, but if the story has been passed down for this long, I would love to believe she existed.
This is what we deserved 😭 I’m literally going to pause the movie any time I watch it from now on and make sure I watch this montage before continuing 😆 My favorite part of the original Disney Mulan was this song and the training sequence. Watching Mulan get beat down only to keep standing back up and persevering with Donny Osmand singing this song is so empowering 😅. And it’s literally my top favorite Disney song. I never have favorites. I can’t name a favorite movie, song, band, team, or show but I can always name my favorite Disney song. This is awesome.

You can't remake something if it's already a masterpiece
I wanted to hate this because of my love of the spirit of this live action production and using the animated version's music. I love rhe earlier animated movie but, this Mulan is a serious work of art. The original was a fun, comedic Disney fary tail.
