This is so awesome, I’m a mix from the Sioux and Cree up by Alberta and Saskatchewan (Morley AB, mosquito SK) our songs are a lot different but I’ve been searching for stuff like this and it’s so awesome because I see new forms of our culture through songs, I’m proud of who I am

I’m part Southern Ute, Chiricahua Apache and Dine’. I’m so proud of my Amerindian ancestors. One day I will be there at a Bear Dance. My older sister was at that Bear Dance. She sent me videos. It was her first time at the dance. She had nothing but amazing things to share about her time there. Makes me want to jump in the ride and head out there to Ute Country. Thank you Alex for making these beautiful videos. It only deepens my pride as being part of the Great Southern Ute Nation. Creators blessing to all my people.

Awesome dance. Im Navajo and have cousins who are part Ute up in Towaoc. I never knew what a bear dance was. I didnt know there was no drum beat.

Beardance is a cultural way,us Ute’s celebrate spring, we dance and all get together, welcoming a new year, with fun. The bear awakening from hibernation. That’s what the songs represent, it’s all about having the fun together. Being together.
