Fantastic episode...but seriously disturbing. The 2 people that gave it a thumbs down must be very shallow and quite ignorant of how the Vietnam war affected SOOO many good people.

War crimes, PTSD, murder, gaslighting...shades of Hitchcock and The Manchurian Candidate! This was a very heavy episode. I bet there'll be comments as usual from people who'll say it helped them go to sleep but I don't see how. I'm glad I played it at breakfast not bedtime, I'd have been brainstorming about it all night. Thanks Chilly, this was a good one.

Americans were real good at depicting Vietnam Vets as "mentally unstable".....which begs the question...how many vets fell prey to similar circumstances after the war?

I’ve known a handful of Vietnam Vets over the years and when the topic comes up they’ve all said they resent the portrayal of them as all mentally damaged. Two or three were grunts in the field and two or three were AF. They all had stories and some where quiet scary, but they told them like I’d relate a car wreak. They didn’t dwell on the deaths and usually just said, “He later died by...” and that was it. (No offense to this episode - its pretty good)

This series has really meant a lot to me over the years. But as a veteran this one really does give me the chills. We don’t usually think of veterans being vulnerable people, at least to anyone but themselves. This is a new take and twist on things. After all, if I were a mugger, about the last man I would want to attack would be a combat veteran. But this shows a different kind of vulnerability.

Oh God, I could not listen to all this one. I first heard it new, way back when. It didn’t bother me then and never thought much about it. A few months later I began a career of 30 years in the military. In 2009 my career finally came to an end, but the horrors and tragedy, and guilt will be with me forever. Today I can fully understand why my oldest brother, a Vietnam Vet, killed himself in early 1991. I was in Iraq. I wasn’t told until 6 months later.

A very entertaining and disturbing tale of fear, capitalizing on fear, and just rewards for those who seek to use and throw away others for their own gain. A psychiatrist who pieces together seemingly unrelated events, and we try to figure out which are real and which are manufactured events! 8/14/23.
