Hilarious episode..

This story is very similar to another radio play called THE MAN IN THE BLACK CAP. That story & AFTERWARD seem to be what u could regard as parallelstories bcoz of the plot similarities. After this story check out MAN IN THE BLACK CAP. Both stories there is a woman whose husband mysteriously goz missing. The husbands in each story own a mine & sell out to a buyer. Both of the buyers think they are cheated by the selling husbands bcoz the businesses go south after they are relinquished to the buyer who blame the husbands & want revenge but are despondant to the point where they both commit suicide & are out for revenge from the other side. Both houses have a mysterious visitor after the suicides & both husbands mysteriously go missing. Listen to both plays & compare. In my opinion, the similarities in both plays are almost uncanny.

Except that woman looks like something from the Paris Olympics. Please be sensible.

We loved in an old house in the woods, back a long dirt road, my Mom wpuld give me a bathe in a plastic tub in living room, rainstorm outside, and this on radio ❤ Good old days

Think about what she said to him, when he was trying to leave at the beginning, he said something like, “I can’t get out, I think the door is locked from the inside!” And she said something like, “That’s ridiculous, who locks the door from the inside?!” If you told anyone from the last few generations, that people didn’t even think about locking their doors, while they were home, they would think THAT would be ridiculous!!! (Even CRAZY!)

Things have changed a LOT, since this was produced in the 1970s! There are now thousands of reports of “dog-men/werewolves,” “Sasquatch,” “fairies/little-people,”and other beings, that are not supposed to exist! I guess because there are a lot more hunters, campers, hikers, homes in remote areas, and of course, the internet/social media, has given people an anonymous way of telling their stories! And because there are so many encounters, by credible people, (police, doctors, military, pilots etc.) and material evidence, that gives them even more credibility! If anyone’s interested, just Google “dog-man” or “werewolf” encounters/sightings, there are many podcasts and websites, where people send in their encounters, and do interviews! Some of them have written books. Check out CZcams, there are many riveting accounts!

No offense but, there’s no such place called “Purgatory,” that is just another non biblical creation of the Roman Papacy, to gain money, power and control, over their followers. I try to listen when I can't sleep. I really enjoyed this one!

This is the second or third time I've played this story but it's the first time I've noticed that EG Marshall pronounces "Caribbean" the same way I do. Most people say it differently nowadays.

I really dislike cliff hangers.

I love these old stories. I grew up with them. What I don't like about plays, is the way old men play the posts off young men. I noticed that when I was a child and it still doesn't sound right all these years later.

This episode makes think of a movie i've recently c'n on TCM called Shadow of a Doubt made in 1943 about this serial killer who marries widowed, wealthy women & killing them 4 their $$$.

Could have been done in 27 minutes with 3 left over for sponsor

This is nice, a good story call I will see how it ends

I love these old radio shows. 50 years ago I drove around the countryside at night listening to them. A man can will the past to life, and relive special moments. I have, complete with details of buildings and addresses and time and weather. And later found evidence as to their authenticity. Regrets, big regrets, that could have changed the lives of dozens, bring them to life. Some for better and some not.

This same thing actually happened to my great aunt in the late 1930s. She and her husband and their infant baby girl attempted to drive over Boulder Mountain in southern Utah on Christmas Eve. A sudden snowstorm hit and they were stranded. They headed out and had a down pillow they cut open and put the baby inside to keep her warm. Neither one was dressed for the weather. They tried to make it to a ranger station where they knew there was a phone, but when they got there it had been disconnected. They went further and my aunt who was only 17 couldn't feel her feet anymore and had to stop. Her husband tried three times to light a fire to get them warm, but every time they tried the wind blew it out. Finally on the last match snow from her husband's hat fell on the match and it went out. He decided to leave her and see if he could make it faster on his own for help in the town where her parents who they were going to visit for Christmas lived. They were going to surprise them so know one knew they were even coming. He did make it there and got help from my grandfather and headed back up. Sadly when they got there Asenith had froze to death. She had taken off her coat to keep the baby warm who survived. There is a monument on that mountain in her honor today. ❤
